Looking for Recommendations Ambient music with a dark folky twist
I am looking for some ambient albums that have a folky inflection, ideally on the darker side but they don't have to be.

I've finally uncovered the identity of the mysterious artist: Moon Insun!
It was Lee Eung-su, the first-generation bassist of Songolmae and the A&R director at Jigu Records, the label that released Moon Insun's album at the time! According to his message, he had planned to release additional albums, but unfortunately they were cancelled because he rejoined Jigu Records… Still, I'm truly grateful to him for leaving behind such wonderful music!
For those who don't know who Moon Insun is: below is a video of the album Moon Insun made. It's a very impressive piece of work for something released in Korea in 1989, so I highly recommend giving it a listen!

Discussion Michael Brook’s Hybrid
Thoughts on Hybrid?
Quite love this album and I love this era of 80s ambient music where Eno is working with the same group of people aka Lanois,Roger, and Brook on Apollo,Voices,Hybrid, and Thursday Afternoon but Hybrid is my favorite out of these since it’s brilliant with its ambience and the guitar work by Brook with its helped by the wonderful Eno treatments:) so I’m glad to hear and love Hybrid start to finish with if I had to pick an favorite song then Distant Village or Midday is my pick:)

HEALSAFE - Brave Green
I made an ambient album that i'm really proud of. The first track was what became the seed that grew into the album. It was an accident while practicing piano. I added a bunch of granular, delay and reverb plugins to what was actually quite an annoying arpeggiated piano riff and it transformed it into this beautiful, pristine, undulating cloud of notes, which really gave me a strong sense of a heavenly realm. I've been looking at a lot of NDEs (Near Death Experiences) today on YouTube and Reddit, and the way people describe the realm reminds me a lot of this soundscape I managed to create. People describe a glowing, floating, non physical realm of light in which there is no time and every reality that has, will and could ever be exist simultaneously. This soundscape, where notes are randomly played, many at the same time, reminds me a lot of what people describe.
The first track is still my favourite, but 5 and 8 are my other two favourites. To me, this is a very relaxing album but it also has a sense of awesome, vibrating intense power and magnitude, like a heavenly realm would evoke.
I hope you ambient music lovers enjoy it <3

3Lux-3 - a journey through ambience (1993)
Anyone remember the 3LUX series? First two parts where more techno/trance oriented but part 3 waded more into ambient territory. Remember buying them on VHS and ofc things could be spotted during the MTV program 'Chill Our Zone'

Self-promotion Go Deo - An ambient album inspired by Ireland
Hi all :)
During the summer I had the luck of visiting Ireland.
I got absolutely fascinated by the scenery and the colors of the land, in particular the days passed in the Western side, in the Connemara region and the Dingle penisula.
While there I decided to record sounds and use them as a starting point for new tracks once I got back home.
This EP is the result of this experimentation, the recordings of the wind, the ocean's shore, pubs and general ambience were processed in different ways to create a first glance of the atmosphere. On top of that the rest of the instrumentation was built, more similar to "painting" than working in a DAW. Grid was off at all time and everything was recorded live/midi.
The titles are in Irish, a language maybe not that widely spoken, but everywhere in Ireland. Even more in these regions of it, I found it extremely interesting and did a little dive in and decided to pick words and concepts from it.
It has a strong ancient feeling to it.
Go Deo means "forever", and I really love how it sounds.
The cover was made by blending two pictures I took myself in the Connemara area in a double exposure edfect, creating a sort of illusion.
Thank you for listening :)

Self-promotion AKALM - UP (excerpt) [Ambient/drone/experimental]
Hi everyone, so after 15 years of being a solo acoustic, touring songwriter, I decided to take a break from all that and challenge myself by writing music with no lyrics/guitars/banjos etc.
I started by making minimalistic compositions with a few chord progressions and then adding layers of soundscapes using a Korg Monotron Delay (not just a toy, super fun) as well as taking a broken cassette player and turning it into a sampler. With the sampler, I created two layers, one was a nice loop of a drone from a Mellotron. The other layer, I had scrunched the tape up for a crackling effect and panned it over to the other ear.
I also used a Hexaphon that I'd constructed myself to create a low, buzzing drone to create plenty of bottom end, which glued everything together.
This is my first venture into electronic and ambient music, so I hope you all enjoy this 3-minute excerpt (the album version is about 10 minutes long). This piece will be featured on my debut album, Jump And Get The Rings on 06/11. There will be 12" vinyls on Aaahh Real Records.
I would really appreciate any feedback, especially when it comes to future releases.

Discussion Appreciation post for "The Evil That Never Arrived" by SOTL
Sorry, I just wanted to get this out there, but I LOVE the Stars of the Lid album And their Refinement in the Decline, but I ESPECIALLY LOVE "The Evil That Never Arrived." It feels so warming and it's gotten me through my most stressful days/nights. My FAVORITE off of this album, and I wanted to just share that with people who actually listen to ambient music (people around me unfortunately don't).

Question Speck-Antiheart
I was wondering if anyone here maybe had a download of Speck’s album Antiheart? It was one of my favorite ambient albums ever and it’s been scrubbed from the internet and I can’t find a physical CD for purchase anywhere since it was only limited to 130 copies. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Question How does one promote ambient music?
I’ve been making music for a couple years now, and I’ve never actually put time into promoting it.
But I wanna change that, I’m tired of putting months into projects just to get no listeners. What I’m asking is how do you promote ambient music in a generation where people have incredibly low attention spans. I feel like it’s almost impossible to get people interested into this genre
