🇦🇿 Unified Support for Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 On March 5, 2026, an unprecedented and unprovoked attack by Iranian drones targeted the Nakhchivan region of Azerbaijan, hitting civilian infrastructure, including a school and the international airport. While the damage is being assessed, Azerbaijan has responded with full military readiness and diplomatic action. We are not alone. The international community has rallied to condemn this aggression and stand with Azerbaijan. A unified message of solidarity and support has echoed from around the world. 🌍 The Nations Standing with Azerbaijan: 🇹🇷 Turkey – Immediate, unwavering, and direct military-political support. 🇮🇱 Israel – Strong condemnation and calls for international action against Iranian aggression. 🇺🇦 Ukraine – Standing with Azerbaijan's sovereignty, condemning attacks on civilian targets. 🇬🇧 United Kingdom – Expressing deep concern over regional stability and solidarity. 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia – Emphasizing regional security and support for Azerbaijan. 🇰🇿 Kazakhstan – A clear message of solidarity from a fellow Turkic nation. 🇬🇪 Georgia – Condemning attacks on neighboring civilian infrastructure. 🇰🇼 Kuwait – Standing against any threat to Azerbaijan's security. 🇲🇩 Moldova – Reinforcing support for international law and sovereignty. 🇫🇷 France – Calling for regional de-escalation and condemning the attack. 🇪🇺 European Union – High Representative condemnation and unified support.

This is a time for strength, unity, and unwavering support for international law and territorial integrity. The future of regional stability is at stake.

I have recently seen many AI-generated posts claiming that veiling is not part of our culture but us instead something Arabic. However, this is historically inaccurate. Until the Soviet period, Azerbaijani women widely wore a veil called the chador (çadra). They wore garments such as the arxalıq, araqçın, etc., but when they went outside, they covered themselves with a chador. These clothes remained beneath the chador and were mostly visible at home, rather than in public. In public spaces, women were generally veiled.

In the end, the chador is a patriarchal tool used to hide women from the male gaze and objectify them. I am not telling you to love the chador. However, do not let people use the “our culture” card to defend a ban on hijab. Being veiled was definitely part of our culture. We abandoned this practice as part of the social liberation of women, but that does not mean it was never part of our history or culture. In the end, everything in about culture is not supposed to be good.
