Like the title says.

This is going to be my first proper job, so it’s all new to me.
On paper, everything seems great, but as I’ve experienced with student jobs in the past, a bad work culture, manager, or colleagues can ruin the experience.

If, hypothetically, I decide after two or three weeks that I don’t like the job, for whatever reason, what’s the worst-case scenario?

Ik ben vandaag vooraan 2 nieuwe banden laten plaatsen bij een lokale bandencentrale, voor ik een lange rit moet maken woensdag naar het buitenland. Ik zag tijdens het plaatsen dat ze redelijk ruw omsprongen met de velgen, om de oude banden er af te halen en de nieuwe er op te zetten, maar toen ik wat dichter bij ging kijken na het plaatsen zag ik aan de buitenste wanden wat van de verf af bladeren en op plekken oppervlakkige(?) barsten? Dit is aan beide velgen vooraan. Ik merkte dit onmiddellijk op maar ze wilden er niets van weten dat er een probleem was, en ze zeiden zelfs dat het anders niet mogelijk was om de banden er op te krijgen? Ik ben geen expert maar dit leek mij een belachelijk excuus. Ik had recent dezelfde banden laten plaatsen achteraan (bij een andere banden centrale) en daar was ook een beetje schade maar die schade vanachter was een peulenschil tegenover de schade vooraan vandaag.

Ik had fotos genomen voor ik naar de banden centrale ging en ik weet dat er voordien geen schade aan was (alhoewel je dit van op een beetje afstand niet kan zien), maar ik had niet veel tijd om daar ruzie te staan maken met die mannen die toch hun verantwoordelijkheid niet wilden opnemen 😭

Is dit normaal? Wat zijn de opties? Ik zal een tijdje niet meer in België zijn met de wagen en vrees voor dat ik de kost zal moeten opdraaien om ze te laten herspuiten 😓

Ik ben fan van de podcast van De Standaard en was begonnen aan de serie over de verkiezingen in Israël. Plots zijn juist die afleveringen niet meer beschikbaar. Een server probleem dat ik nog nooit ben tegen gekomen op deze app. Gezien de manier waarop het Israëlische regime werkt, zou je beginnen te denken dat deze er van af gehaald zijn om een of andere reden. Heeft iemand die kaart eigenlijk ooit effectief nodig gehad? Wat is het ergste dat kan gebeuren als je die kaart niet kan tonen moest je toch effectief opgenomen worden in een andere Europees land gegeven dat de meeste mutualiteiten ook nog een reisbijstandsverzekering hebben (Mutas).

Ik ben al zo'n 25 jaar fan van Placebo en kijk enorm uit naar het concert in de AFAS Dome (of mag ik nog Sportpaleis zeggen?) op 1 november.

Enig probleem is terug thuis geraken na het concert. De laatste trein vanuit Antwerpen Centraal is al rond 23:35. Als de support gedaan heeft en Placebo speelt 2 uur, dan is het al snel 23u voor het concert gedaan is. Dan moet je al van je zitje in sneltempo richting metro en hopen dat je bij de gelukkigen bent die de eerste metro hebben richting station. Veel te onzeker, dus dat ga ik niet doen.

Ik vermoed dat ik niet de enige Placebo fan aan de kust ben, en hoop dat ik met iemand kan carpoolen terug richting zeetje na het concert. Is er iemand hier met wie ik na het concert zou kunnen carpoolen??

PS1: ik heb BlaBlaCar al meermaals gecontroleerd, maar er is voorlopig geen aanbod.

PS2: er is de optie van een nacht hotel, maar ik vind het een beetje weggegooid geld om in eigen land op hotel te gaan. Dan wordt het wel een erg duur concert, alsof je naar een buitenlands concert gaat maar dan zonder de citytrip inclusief.

I just turned 20 this month and I've been looking for a job in Brussels since I came here in September, I feel like everyone wants the same thing: experience (wich I can't gain without a job in the first place) and to not be so young, whenever I mention I'm 20 I don't even get a reach back I'm just ignored.

I'm not picky about working I can do anything that doesn't require a degree or specialization and I'm starting to wonder if I'm just not looking in the right place.

Hi everyone! im trying to learn flemish because of my Belgian boyfriend, Im currently doing a course and im 50% on my A2 level course (loooong way to go), but something I've been doing is watching some dutch series but prime and Netflix are short on those, I've been thinking maybe it would be nice to watch some YouTube by flemish content creators cause YouTube translates to every language, if you can drop me some YouTubers from Belgium or Netherlands (but I would prefer Belgium), if it could be make-up, healthiness and fitness lifestyle beauty influencers would be ideal because that's what I normally watch, but it can also be different types of content videos, like games, true crime, informational documentaries, etc! Hi there, I've recently been in Belgium for the first time for work, unfortunately I didn't get to see much of anything besides the highway, except a cargo facility, a hotel, and Brussels Airport.

At the hotel breakfast and (because I was traveling for work from the US) the Brussels Airport business class lounge, there was offered "Hydration Juice" in multiple flavors in a glass carafe. It seemed like it was fortified with Vitamins and I assume electrolytes. It was very enjoyable.

Is this something on offer widely across Belgium? Is it a regular Gatorade style drink that they just dumped in a carafe, or is it made by hand? I can't find any more info on it via Google search.

EDIT: the only reason I ask is because in 2 different unnasociated places, a hotel in Liege and the lounge at the airport in Brussels, there were two different beverages called "Hydration Juice" that were clear, not opaque, had some kind of vitamin infusion based on the labels, came in multiple flavors, and were very much not a sports drink, like Gatorade. They weren't that sweet. This is something I have never seen before in any other location.

Hi All - I’m facing a difficult situation with my family and would really appreciate any advice. I’m from outside Belgium, but my grandparents have lived in Brussels for many years. Unfortunately, my grandmother, who used to manage the household, passed away unexpectedly, leaving my grandfather, who has cognitive disabilities, on his own.

Since her passing, his bank account has been frozen for the past two months, leaving him unable to pay his rent and other essential expenses. I’ve been trying to obtain judicial oversight so I can access his account and manage his finances on his behalf, but there seems to be no clear timeline for when this will happen.

In the meantime, the bills are piling up, from rent to the remaining medical bills from my grandmother’s care. I’m doing my best to cover his rent for now, but it’s simply not sustainable in the long run.
I’m feeling quite lost and would really appreciate any advice on how to navigate this situation. I also don’t speak French and when I call or email certain organizations it’s very hard to even get them to talk to me 😔.

I‘m a chronic kidney stone former. I tend to need to go to the emergency department a couple of times a year, sometimes I need surgery.

I can’t get travel insurance as I’m currently waiting for a procedure.

If I had an attack whilst in Belgium, could I go to a public emergency department? Would I be treated? Or turned away? Would I have to pay up front?

I have a GHIC card. My last trip was to Spain and while there I had an attack and my GHIC card meant all treatment, including an operation, was free.

This is absolutely shameful and appalling. Tens of thousands of people dying each year because of air pollution and smoking, and it costs our healthcare billions of euros each year.

Literally billions of our taxes are wasted each year because we have to treat and save people who smoke or were poisoned by years of exposure to smoke and fumes.

I really believe this is one of the rare topics that should unite everyone - from PvDA to NVA and MR.
