I have lived in Boone for a few years and this is the 2nd year I have seen these “Rich Brown” signs around town. They always crack me up because there is no additional info besides “Rich Brown” in brown font. I thought maybe someone running for some local election since they seem to be next to political signs, yet when I goggle it nothing comes up 😭 it feels like an inside joke that I’m dying to know about

Hello friends! I’m originally from Charlotte but sister and nephew all attended/attending App so have visited the area a ton over the last two decades. I’ve recently taken up fishing and thought I would return in the next week or two and check out some local spots.

I’m looking at the Chetola Resort but also places like Bass lake. I’m usually working with my ultralight rods but have larger gear in my line up.

Any recommendations? I wonder if the resort would be too commercial, but maybe it’s a good place to start.

Downtown Boone's one-way traffic on Howard Street has created real problems: worse congestion, harder access to businesses, and declining sales for local shops that depend on walk-in customers. It's not working.

I started a petition asking the Town of Boone to reverse the direction of travel between Depot st and Appalachian st. Business owners are struggling, visitors are frustrated, and it's affecting the heart of our community. Changing the direction would restore smoother traffic flow, increase accessibility, and make the added parking make more since.

Has anyone else noticed the impact on getting around downtown? If you care about supporting local businesses and keeping Boone's downtown vibrant, consider signing and sharing. This is something we can actually fix.

Ive lived in Boone for 8 years now, im getting pretty sick of Doom metal and Emo bands being the only real "heavy" bands in the area with the occasional visiting hardcore band exception, is there anywhere i can find some genuinely heavy Hardcore, Slam, Grindcore, Deathcore in Watauga? I am a local and have recently completed my associates and am thinking about transferring to app as an associates doesnt mean much anymore. Has anyone had experience with working at least 32 hours a week and doing full-time school? How doable was it, and are there things to keep in consideration? I do not have anyone or anything to fall back on (no family, relatives, or friends) so I just need an idea of what kind of situation I am preparing for.

This afternoon we were taking photos at the Linn Cove Viaduct overlook pull-off (Milepost 304, the stone wall parking area). The wind blew my 2-year-old son's cap over the stone wall and into the wooded slope below the viaduct — it was out of sight.

I am graduating from UGA this year with a bachelors in communication studies and a masters in emerging media. I am really wanting to move to Boone post-grad. I think my best bet for a media job (videography/photography, advertising, communications) would be with the university. I currently work for the UGA Office of Research doing video packages and various communications with them. I have an extensive resume of video, photo, and comms work. Do y’all know of the best places to look for these kinds of jobs, or anyone that is/will be hiring for next fall?
