REDBLACKS I can stomach 0-18, not Chad Kelly
It's no secret this team has been a disaster for a long time, even in the extreme poor history of Ottawa Football this year is very bad. Im not going to say im going to tolerate this ineptitude, but I would not give up on the franchise over it. Despite numberous of just recent failings with the tax payer paid stadium downgrades, the just horrid management and more reasons than I cant list without becoming a novel of reasonable complaints. I can tolerate them enough to still care and show up. Trust me, they do nothing right just about ever, but in the end I'll still support them.
But giving Chad Kelly the mega deal he wants would put simply be the last middle finger from this team I can avert my eyes from. He is a touchy subject in this sub but for anyone who doesn't know, a very long story short is he violated the CFL Gender-based Violence Policy. He has off field baggage from Clemson, Ole Miss, Denver, Indy and I even hear from high school are plentiful. Theres nowhere he hasn't had something ugly happen.
If we keep it to on the field, he expects a 1 mil apy deal over 5 years. You cant build a team with one guy getting that much in this league, certainly not if he is as mediocre as he is. Maybe some years ago he was a legitimate franchise qb but those days are beyond him. This just has the screaming noise of a Deshaun Watson contract repeat, a guy with big baggage coming with him, a albatross deal thatll paralyze any franchise for as long as it persists and just a attitude nobody is particularly enamored with. It will be a horrid deal before its even signed.
I just know the management group will run for the easy solution, they want the results to be instant so chad kelly is the expensive quick fix. Its their typical textbook move every offseason. Theres lots of smoke to this currently and with what the org philosophy has always been I just know theres truth to it. I just hope it isnt true. If a guy is buns on the field that is one thing, but when that guy also represents what Chad does thats just not something I can get behind. I have heard a tiny amount of folks excited by the idea of having him come here, all I have to say to them is "there will be one extra seat available because what was mine is now all yours pal".
I completely refuse to accept his face plastered over my city and being a "Ottawa sports icon". And i certainly will not be the one who drags or pushes people I know to go to games anymore. I've been with this team ever since it came back. Even through years where honestly my love for the sport has really wanned. They just make football so unfun to watch, but I love this team enough to try to find the fun in it again. Chad however is a bridge too far for me, his behavior is just not something I can accept. Ever. I dont care what PR spin OSEG would try you arent going to ever get me to ever endorse that. If they do this then fine, it's clear they dont want me there anymore. This isn't 2005, Ottawa now has lots of other teams I can (and already do) support.
They can finish 8th, 7th, 6th all they want going forward, no amount of home playoff blowouts is going to convince me to care so long as he is on the team. Even if they somehow are good I just don't see myself being there if he is. We will see what they do. But if they do what we all know they will, they are going to lose atleast one die hard long time fan in the process for good.
TL:DR As a long time supporter I will find a way to still support the Redblacks even if they truly do lose out this year. Heck I'd do it even if they did it again next year. They have not held up their end of the deal but I will still do mine. But I draw the line at Chad Kelly and his off field controversies and am willing to walk away if he is the (currently very strongly rumored) direction they go in.

REDBLACKS 0-18 is more likely than 1-17
With all the players sask missed tonight, the fact they nearly hung 50 on us makes it safe to say 0-18 is not a joke or exaggeration anymore

REDBLACKS Redblacks are now 0-16. What would you change?
At what point does the offense just get pissed off and run the ball every play up the middle and try to punch the other team in the mouth? And similar to defense, when does the defense get angry and become more agressive? This is pathetic to watch as a redblacks fan. This is professional sports and this team is not even close to winning a game. I think they need to become more agressive and make each play difficult for the other team to make a play on. Anyways, I’m a fed up Ottawa fan and need answers, this season is incredibly pathetic.
