The UBC Mood Disorders Centre at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health is recruiting participants for a depression biomarkers study within Metro Vancouver & Lower Mainland.
The purpose of this study is to (1) test whether a specific combination of biomarkers discovered during our previous studies can help predict how someone will respond to treatment, and (2) to explore other possible biomarkers that may predict treatment response. Biomarkers are biological features such as proteins, genes, and brain images, that indicate the state of a disease in a person. This information may help us develop tests in the future that can guide treatment choice more effectively and more quickly.
You may be able to participate if you are:
• Are 18 to 65 years of age
• Have been diagnosed with depression or suspect you may have depression and are currently feeling depressed. Common symptoms include: depressed mood, diminished interest or pleasure in activities, change in appetite, poor sleep, fatigue, low self-esteem, and poor concentration.
• Are willing to take a standard antidepressant medication as treatment for your depression.
• Are willing to undergo blood/lab tests.
There will be 8 in-person visits over 12 weeks:
- 1 x Electrocardiography (ECG) (Screening only)
- 2 x Collection of blood (Baseline, Week 8)
- 2 x Stool Sample Collection (Baseline, Week 8)
- 2 x Urine Collection (Baseline, Week 8)
- 2 x Electroencephalography (EEG) (Baseline, Week 8)
- 3 x Computerized Cognitive Testing (Baseline, Week 8, Week 12)
- 8 x Clinical assessments done by a psychiatrist
Please note that you must not currently be using any recreational and/or non-prescription drugs, have a drinking problem, or have had a history of drug use or a drinking problem within the past six months.
The study is being conducted by Dr. Raymond Lam at the Mood Disorders Centre, UBC Hospital.
You will receive an honorarium for each study visit to cover costs of participating.
For more information about this study and how to enroll, please contact us at 604.822.7804 or Lam.MDDResearch2 @ ubc.ca

Im hoping to go winter camping for the first time this winter by myself, i have all the equipment i need with the proper ratings, but my question is whether the fire ban is still in affect during the winter, and if there are campsites that are open during the winter. I usually go to clearcreek or maple bay for camping in the summer and im not sure if those campsites are open in the winter. I want to practice making fires and if the fire ban is not in affect in the winter, that would be awesome if anyone can answer that (sorry this is poorly worded LOL)

I’m loosing any semblance of hope, disgusting actions are taking place in every part of the world as I type this. Individuals held in camps, being tortured, bombs dropping on children and hospitals, a never ending list of atrocities.
There is nothing I can do, I cannot help them, I cannot protect anyone.
And yet we’re still discussing meaningless topics, like any of it will matter in the long run when this planet becomes unliveable. Still hung up on gay people, still marching down streets waving Nazi flags, still debating if healthcare, food, fresh water, and a home should be something all people deserve.
We’ve been around for centuries, hundreds of years to evolve and yet we’re still going round and round rehashing the exact same ridiculous bullshit we have been since the beginning of our existence as a species.
There’s a lot of good people in the world, but somehow they never seem to be the ones with any power. Why do we sit around allowing this all to continue? What more can we do? I don’t know how to fix any of this and I’m exhausted. Exhausted for every single person suffering in this moment, it is so undeserved, so inhumane, and I’m sorry there is no one there stopping it.

Does anyone know where/who I could buy a “Fancy mouse” from? I am wanting one as a pet. I have checked the spca and pet stores with no such luck. Besides the ones scurrying around in crawl spaces, are pet mouses not a thing anymore?

Which candidate is a more strategic vote against Maahs?
Yes, I am fed up with both the Conservatives and NDP, but that seems to be Grice's entire platform?!
Do I plug my nose and vote for Shaukat as a progressive representative even though I want Eby out?
Willing to be influenced by thoughtful replies.

I have been renting space for my birds from a friend down Chilliwack Lake Road for some years now, but they are preparing to subdivide the property and I won't be able to remain there.
They have some work to complete before winter in my space so I'd like to relocate sooner than later. A long term arrangement would be preferable, however if someone had space to offer to get through until next summer that would also be appreciated.
I have 6 hens and 3 roosters who I keep in separate runs. I only need electricity when it gets below -10, then I add a bit of heat in the coops. Other than that I handle everything else on my own (bring in my own water, etc). I would need less than 1/4 acre, and I have my own fencing.
Hopefully that's enough basic info! If anyone is interested or may know someone interested then please reach out in comments or DMs. Thank you!
ETA: As suggested I'll include: I pay $150/month and I pay for electricity used with the heat lamps in winter

My wife brought home a walmart apple pie with walmart no name ice cream once, and it was their first experience with pie. They've never wanted to touch any since. I feel like I've failed them in some way LOL! Where in Chilliwack in your opinion, has the absolute best pies? If i could convince them to give pie a second chance, which pie should I lead with?

Posting his in hopes of saving a potential buyer thousands in damages and headaches. A flipper is renovating a mobile home, #55 45640 Watson Road, Chilliwack.
They have installed a bathtub on top of rotting sub floor, installed shower tile directly on top of un treated drywall, completed unpermitted gas, electrical and plumbing work. Those are issues that ive seen, but there are likely more.
In his own words "its okay, im just selling". Its not a matter of if these cause issues, its when. I hope this post pops when a buyer searches the adress. The individual buying this place will likely be low income and cant afford to deal with it.

Oh hey, if you were the passenger in the black car who fingered me while parked waiting to pick up my child from school today, I’m not sure what I did exactly that offended you, but why didn’t you say something instead?
My window was partly rolled down, your window was rolled down. I’m a reasonable person, who makes mistakes and I would rather know if I did something wrong than have some passive-aggressive hand gesture directed at me, which left me with no idea what I could have even done to piss you off.

It looked so young and healthy. There was blood all over the road and it seems like whoever killed it was speeding. Why can't people just slow down in this city, I don't get it? My family has been seeing this bear around for a few weeks. We're so lucky to live in this ecosystem and habitat and we destroy it so carelessly. If whoever hit it is reading this, shame on you. Please slow down.
