🇨🇩 Welcome to the DRC 🇨🇩

Paid over $200 for a DRC visa in Ghana, rode all the way to the Angola border… only to be told my visa wasn’t valid because apparently the embassy that issued it “can’t issue visas.”

After 2 hours of being ignored, rain started coming in, immigration cancelled my visa, and I couldn’t realistically go back.

So naturally, I started setting up my tent inside immigration.

That somehow worked.

The boss appeared, gave me a 48-hour entry stamp, told me to “go back to your country,” and I entered the DRC anyway

Congo will make it to the finals, I can feel it

Using beauty influence to spread awareness about what’s going on in Congo, while appreciating the culture & heritage. A very beautiful country 🤍 excuse any mispronunciations and please give feedback for critique/fact checking. I love making these videos but they are not perfect

Quelqu'un pourrait-il déterminer si ce film a été tourné à la mine d'étain de Manono ou dans l'une des mines d'or de Kilo-Moto (Mongbwalu-Kanga, Yedi, Zani, etc.) ?

Période : 1952-1964

Would anyone be able to determine whether this film was made at the tin mine of Manono or one of the Kilo-Moto gold mines (Mongbwalu-Kanga, Yedi, Zani, ...)

Period 1952-1964

This was what the mood was like at Kasarani during Kenya vs DRC in the CHAN match

Johnny Harris, the popular YouTube journalist with millions of followers, dropped a video about the Congo two days ago. I was wondering if any of you have seen it and what your thoughts are. I saw a lot of Congolese people in the comments, obviously. He included some experts who've studied this conflict for years, including Henry Pacifique Mayala, a researcher at the Ebuteli Institute and the Kivu Security Tracker Coordinator, as well as Policy Strategist/Governance Specialist, which I appreciated.

The video covered four sections : The History, The war economy, The gold journey, and The external war economy. He also used data from the International Information service, which is difficult to get your hands on. And honestly, I respect that he chose to make a video on this at all. He has a massive platform, and putting a spotlight on something like this can help bring much-needed attention. That said, do you think this video was an oversimplification of this complicated issue? The conflict is so layered, historically, politically, regionally, and I don't think 32 minutes is enough to do it justice.

Even with good intentions and expert input, does this seem like an outsider's surface-level take, or is it good? What do you think? At the very least, it gets the conversation started.
