Why are congregations so weird compared to churches?
Itās my 2nd time in a congregation (seurakunta). I always feel anxiety, weird and just.. weird. Congregations are small, people are weird and the way people do speeches are weird.
In an actual big church I get more out of them. You have space to sit, you meet a real priest, nobody bothers you. The vibe is just different. In congregations you meet drug addicts, criminals and shit. Not like iām judging, but I just donāt feel safe nor do I feel god in congregations.
EDIT: I meant pentecostals.

Best espresso coffee beans in Finland?
Hello! I live in Oulu, we have a couple of very nice local shops for getting good beans but I am interested in beans throughout Finland, please give me your recommendations! I am curious to hear of all types, but I personally prefer very chocolatey deep rich notes. Kiitos!

Follow up to work accident from 2024
Hey, im posting this just for people who were interested in how this case turned out and to vent.
Original post : https://www.reddit.com/r/Finland/comments/1b85c7y/work_accident_resulting_in_death/
She was delivering cargo to a loading bay in the terminal, apparently drove to the wrong one. A forklift driver drove up behind her truck to instruct her to the right spot. At the same time another forklift apparently came from behind and due to the slippery conditions was unable to break in time and crashed into the 1st forklift, which crashed into my mother who was at that point standing between the truck and 1st forklift.
There are alot of factors here but both drivers had complained about the slippery conditions prior to this, there were no nails in the tires, and last time the area had been sanded/graveled whatever was 12 hours prior to the accident. Mind you this was in January. Apparently they had also "hiekkalaatiko" on the site , which workers could shovel on the paths themselves when necessary. Except in the police interview, one of them says this "hiekka" is more like "betooni" in there , rendering it unusable. He also mentions after this accident, they added 2 more of these "hiekkalaatikos" to the worksite...
My mother was probably in the wrong here aswell by standing in that spot , but I don't think its normal for terminal workers to play bumper cars with their forklifts either.
After 2 years of investigating and police interviews , it seems the prosecutor has decided it was just an accident . No court, no charges filed , no nothing. After reading the police interrogations I was absolutely sure this is going forward, in my eyes it was pretty clear there had been work safety violations regarding the work area . The companies own workers who were interviewed by the police brought this up . Barely if any work had been done to ensure the work area isn't slippery. Honestly im in complete disbelief over this conclusion. I also don't have the legal knowledge or finance to pursue this any further legally. My attempts to contact people from this company myself have also been in vain. Thanks to their insurance company for the funeral costs I guess? Not really sure what else to say.
Rest in peace mom.

How do Finnish farmers afford those massive tractors?
I often travel around Finland and pass through rural areas, and Iām always amazed by the massive, modern tractors I see on the roads and in the fields. Some look like they cost ā¬100kāā¬200k!
How do farmers actually afford these machines? Do they buy them through loans or leasing, receive government/EU subsidies, or are farms profitable enough to cover the costs?
Curious to hear from Finnish farmers or anyone who knows how the industry works!

Thoughts about the new proposal from Finns Party for budget
Just saw a news about Finns party proposing new budget cuts. The points in brackets is my thoughts. Hereās some of the points below:
Purra said the government must examine spending across all sectors. She acknowledged that the proposed administrative restructuring would result in public-sector redundancies. (More unemployment)
Purra identified middle-management positions among the potential targets (More benefit to upper class)
It would abolish the Ministry of the Environment, the Finnish National Agency for Education and the Natural Resources Institute Finland.
Deputy chairman Joakim Vigelius said the restructuring would include ā¬150 million in agency-related savings. Abolishing the National Agency for Education would account for approximately ā¬10 million. (Education standards going low)
Healthcare regions would face ā¬1 billion in reductions to projected funding increases, while municipalities would lose ā¬600 million. (If you die you die, state has no money)
Parliamentary group chairman Jani MƤkelƤ said assistance to Ukraine would remain unaffected (Ofcourse recently Zelensky asked for 70 Billion euros. Kinda fair to make your own people suffer, while sending money to another country)
Universities and universities of applied sciences would face approximately ā¬340 million in funding adjustments. Students pursuing a second qualification at the same level would pay ā¬2,000 per semester (No more Free education Yayyyyy)
I wonder how since the beginning of this govt they have just kept on cutting and cutting expenses and saving billions yet still the debt has continued to rise and they have taken so much more loan ? Sorry to say but my Math is not Mathing.
To all those who voted for this government how does it feel to put incompetent people in Office?
What are your thoughts on this ??

12V battery in Toyota Hybrid
Hello,
I bought a toyota hybrid from 2017 fro.a dealership 3 weeks ago. Things were fine until I went on a small vacation (6 days) and now the 12v battery is dead and the car is not working anymore. Now, I talked to the dealership and the sale person said the boss is on vacation and will be back on Monday. Meanwhile, I'm curious to know your feedback on:
1) Is this normal to happen or is it because the battery is old?
2) in your opinion, can I ask the dealership to change anew one for free?
3) How to avoid this happening in the future? I go for 3 weeks of vacation once a year.
Any other tips to make my life easier asI'm not quite sn expert in cars. Thanks!

Raskasta Joulua (band)
Hi! I'm not a Finn, but I wanted to know opinion of people who live in Finland. Since it's already a bit colder where I live, I started listening to my Christmas music playlists (lol) and found quite a lot Raskasta Joulua songs. I wanted to know what do you think about this project. I know that they make large tours every year, and there is probably a demand for these tours every year...What do you think about Raskasta Jolua, their songs and concerts? Is this really considered "heavy" music? Is it popular, especially among young people? If you ever visited concerts please tell your opinion too! Thanks!
I really like most of their albums and enjoyed watching live videos till 2021-2022 I guess, it started feel another way later, but I'm not sure why, that's just what I see from YouTube videos anyway

What's the most typical text a Finnish mum sends?
I'm Italian and I'm making a game where your whole life happens through phone notifications. Right now I'm writing the mum character: all the messages your mum sends you, from the day you get your first phone at 14 until you're old.
The problem is I'm Italian, and my mum texts differently. I have no idea what a typical Finnish mum text looks like.
Could you help me? Reply with the text your mum sends you most often. I'd really appreciate it, and I'll add the messages you send me to the game.
It's still a beta, if you want to try it: https://pinglife.itch.io/pinglife

Serious Starting an import/wholesale business in Finland. Where do I begin?
Hi everyone, I'm new in Helsinki and planning to import food (vegetables, fruits, packaged goods) and household items like detergent from abroad to sell wholesale in Finland.
Is there a specific wholesale market or platform for this, or do I need to contact shops, restaurants, and distributors directly to make deals? Also, what licences or rules should I know about for importing food and detergents?
I'm still learning how things work here, so any real experience, tips, or names to look into would help a lot. Thank you!

Serious Treamer doesn't allow account removal
Hi,
As the title says Treamer doesn't allow account removal. I installed it few weeks ago and now I don't want to use the app anymore so I decided to delete my account. However, even after writing my name, the "remove" option is not working and only the "don't remove account" option works.
Is this a bug or just a shity company?

Serious Difficulty to find friends
Hellou. I have a friend who is not originally from Finland but has been living here over 10+ years. He doesnt study anymore and is currently unemployed. He said that for him is difficult to find friends even thought when was working or studying. He might have some autism way of thinking. He likes dogs and has been working in IT sector. Also likes many kind of sports. If here is someone else who has had similar problems, like autism plus non finnish in Finland, peer support would be important for him š

Finnish healthcare system
Hello
What are your thoughts about the Finnish healthcare system? Iāve heard a lot of negative feedbackāspecifically, that medical care is often delayed, with help provided only when a personās condition has already become quite serious. In my home country, I could easily get tests doneāblood work, ultrasounds, ECGs, X-rays, and so on. Iāve heard that the medical services here are very slow; Iāve been there a couple of times myself and had to wait eight hours to see a doctor. Fortunately, it wasnāt anything serious, but I saw people in the waiting area who were groaning and clearly in a bad wayāyet they werenāt receiving any care. Iāve also heard that surgeries are often delayed and subject to long waiting lists. I tend to overthink things and worry quite a bit about my health, so Iād like to be confident thatāGod forbid something happensāIāll receive timely medical attention.
Is the situation really that bad? I would love to hear some positive stories from people
