As-salamu alaykum!
During my trip to Wadi Rum, I bought this small glass jar from a Bedouin man. It contains a dry, black, crumbly substance that looks like tiny pieces of shredded wood or dried herbs.
The seller told me to take a small amount, rub it between my palms (without adding water), and then apply the fragrance to my skin, especially my neck and cheeks.
It smells absolutely wonderful!
I'm now back in Moscow, Russia, and I'd love to find something similar here. Unfortunately, I have no idea what this substance is called or what to search for.
Does anyone recognize it? What's its traditional Arabic name? Is it a common Bedouin perfume? What is it usually made from?
I've attached a photo.
Shukran kteer! Allah yatikum el-afyeh!
