🧪 Founding Beta Founding Beta – We’re Looking for Gaming Discord Communities

We’re currently looking for gaming Discord communities, server owners, admins and moderators who are willing to test LobbyOutPost during our Founding Beta.

LobbyOutPost is built around one idea:

Relevant gaming information should lead to community activity — not more Discord noise.

The current beta includes:

📡 Game Radar & official-first updates
Follow the games your community actually cares about.

⚡ Pulse
Quickly catch up on important updates and upcoming releases.

📅 Release tracking
Keep important game dates visible without manually checking multiple sources.

👥 Squad Up / LFG
Help members find people to play with directly inside Discord.

⚙️ Community-controlled setup
Admins choose the games and channels that matter to their server.

🔒 Privacy-conscious
LobbyOutPost does not monitor ordinary Discord conversations and does not require Administrator permission.

What we’re looking for

We don’t just want installs.

We want honest feedback from real gaming communities:

• Was setup easy to understand?
• Which features would your members actually use?
• What feels unnecessary?
• What is missing?
• Would you keep LobbyOutPost installed after testing it?

Positive feedback is great — but critical feedback is even more useful right now.

If you run a gaming Discord and want to test it, feel free to comment here or send me a message. 🎮

Welcome to r/LobbyOutPost – Start Here 🎮

Welcome to the official LobbyOutPost community! I’m building LobbyOutPost to help Discord gaming communities know what matters, catch up, and play together.

We’re a small community in Founding Beta. Players, Discord admins and curious newcomers are welcome.

Pick a starting point

Looking for people to play with? Use our copy-paste LFG template or join a weekend thread. Include your game, platform, region/language, time zone, open spots and voice preferences. You can take part without installing the bot.

Want to try LobbyOutPost? Start at the official website and use Add to Discord. In Discord, explore /games and My Games, then try /pulse for a catch-up. Server-wide setup is for admins; use /setup in your server. If a step is unclear or fails, tell us which step—you don’t need to figure it out alone.

Have an idea or a problem? Make a post with the matching flair. For a bug, include the command or action, expected result and actual result. Remove names, tokens, private messages and other personal details from screenshots.

What belongs here

  • Game Radar, Pulse, release tracking and Squad Up/LFG discussions
  • Useful Discord gaming and session-planning tips
  • Feature requests, bug reports and feedback
  • Development updates with a clear distinction between live features and plans

Keep posts relevant and respectful. No unsolicited invite spam. When your LFG session fills up or ends, mark it FULL or CLOSED.

Say hello below: what game is your group playing, and what makes organising a session difficult?

👥 Squad Up / LFG A copy-paste Discord LFG template: 7 details that make joining easier

“Anyone playing?” is easy to post, but it leaves everyone else guessing. Here’s a small template you can copy into any Discord LFG channel:

Game + mode:

Platform + crossplay requirements:

Region + spoken language:

Start time + time zone:

Session length:

Open spots + experience level:

Voice chat + playstyle:

Example — a fictional session, not an active recruitment:

Game: your game / co-op

Platform: PC; check crossplay before joining

Region/language: Europe / English

Start: Friday, 19:00 UTC

Length: about 90 minutes

Spots: 2; beginners welcome

Voice/style: mic optional; relaxed, no spoilers

After people join, edit the post to FULL or CLOSED so late readers don’t chase an expired session. Keep invite links and personal contact details out of public replies.

I’m building LobbyOutPost around making this kind of coordination easier, but this template works without installing anything.

Which detail saves YOU the most back-and-forth: time, platform, voice chat, or playstyle?

💬 Community Question Would you trust a gaming Discord bot MORE if it never read your chat? 🔒🎮

While building LobbyOutPost, I’ve been thinking a lot about the line between:
“smart and personalized”
and
“why does this bot need access to all of that?”
One decision I’ve made so far is pretty simple:

LobbyOutPost shouldn’t need to monitor your conversations to understand what your gaming community wants.

Instead, the idea is to work with explicit signals:
🎮 Games you actually care about
🌍 Region & language
👥 Squad Up / LFG activity
🟢 Playing Here / availability
⭐ Your own game preferences
📰 Relevant official gaming signals
That may mean less “AI magically guesses everything” — but also less unnecessary data access and fewer surprises for players and admins.

So I’m curious:
What would YOU prefer from a Discord gaming app?
A) 🤖 Make it as smart as possible, even if it analyzes chat
B) 🔒 Explicit preferences/actions only — don’t read conversations
C) ⚙️ Let the server admin decide
D) 🤷 I honestly don’t care as long as it’s useful

And the bigger question:
What permission or data request immediately makes you hesitate before installing a Discord bot?
I’d rather design LobbyOutPost around what people actually trust than add “smart” features nobody asked for.

🛠️ Development Update 6 weeks of building LobbyOutPost — turns out, building the bot wasn’t the hardest part. 🎮

About six weeks ago, I started LobbyOutPost as a community project with a pretty simple idea:

Gaming information should lead to people actually playing together.

Since then, it has grown quite a bit.

🎮 185 active supported games
📰 Official-first gaming updates & Pulse
🔥 Game Radar / discovery
👥 Squad Up with structured LFG
🟢 Playing Here / personal gaming features
🌍 EN / DE / JA / KO
👤 Personal User Install
🏠 Full Server Install for community features
🔒 Privacy-first, low-noise approach
📡 Listed publicly beyond our own Discord

And I've learned something important:

Getting a bot to work is not the same as getting a community to actually adopt it.

You can build features, fix bugs and improve UX forever — but if the first few minutes after installation don't clearly answer:

“Why should I use this again tomorrow?”

…none of that really matters.

So the next phase of LobbyOutPost is less about adding random features and more about:

relevance → action → repeated use

I want the experience to become:

See something that matters → see who's interested → play together.

So here's the question I'd love some outside perspective on:

You install a new Discord gaming app.

What would it need to show or do within the FIRST 60 SECONDS for you to think:

“Okay, this is actually useful.”

A squad ready to join?
Friends/community members playing your games?
Relevant updates?
Upcoming releases?
A personalized dashboard?
Something else?

Be critical. That's much more useful to me than “looks good.” 😄

LobbyOutPost is continuing beyond the original 6-week build — now the goal is proving that people actually want to keep using it. 🎮

💬 Community Question Gaming news bots: would you rather get EVERYTHING fast — or only the updates that actually matter? 🎮

One question keeps coming up while building LobbyOutPost:

Does more gaming news actually make a Discord community better informed?

A bot can post every patch note, maintenance notice, trailer, event and announcement…
…but at some point that can just become another channel everyone mutes.

So if you were setting this up for your own Discord, what would you prefer?

A) ⚡ Everything as fast as possible
B) ✅ Official / verified updates only
C) 🎮 Only updates for games I actually care about
D) 🎯 Let me choose the type per game — patches, releases, events, status, etc.
E) 🔥 Only notify us when something is genuinely important

Personally, I’m trying to make LobbyOutPost more about relevance than volume:

gaming signal → what matters here → useful community action

But I don’t want to assume that’s what players and admins actually want.

What would make you keep a gaming-news bot unmuted?

And what kind of notification makes you instantly think:
“yeah… I’m muting this channel.” 😅

💬 Community Question What makes a gaming Discord bot something you actually KEEP using? 🎮

Installing a Discord bot is easy.
Still using it three months later is the interesting part.
So I’m curious — especially from gamers, server owners and moderators:

What makes a gaming bot become part of your community instead of just another bot nobody uses?

Is it…
🎮 Helping people actually find others to play with
⚡ Giving useful information at exactly the right moment
🔕 Staying quiet unless something matters
🟢 Showing who’s available to play right now
📅 Making sessions easier to organize
🎯 Understanding the games your community actually plays
🛠️ Saving moderators/admins work
👥 Creating something members actively come back to Or is there something completely different?

I’m asking because with LobbyOutPost, I’m increasingly less interested in adding features just to make the feature list longer.

The goal is to build something gaming communities would actually miss if it disappeared.

So: what’s one Discord bot feature or behavior that genuinely keeps you coming back?
Negative examples are welcome too. 😄

💬 Community Question What makes you trust a new Discord gaming app enough to actually try it? 🎮

LobbyOutPost has reached a small but important milestone:

we’re now listed beyond our own community — including Top.gg and Discord’s app ecosystem.
But being discoverable and getting someone to actually click Install are two very different things.
So I want to ask this from the user side:

When you discover a new Discord gaming app, what makes you trust it enough to try it?

Is it:

🔒 Clear permissions and privacy
⭐ Reviews / ratings
👥 Seeing real communities already using it
🎥 A short demo showing exactly what it does
🧩 Being able to install it personally without asking an admin
⚡ A very clear benefit within the first minute
🛠️ Active development and transparent updates
🤝 Recommendation from someone you know
Or is there something else?

I’m currently working on LobbyOutPost, where the goal is to connect gaming information with actual community action — things like relevant game signals, Playing Here and Squad Up — without turning Discord into another notification feed.
We’re still in the Founding Beta, so I’d much rather understand what creates trust before pushing harder on growth.

What would make you install — and what would make you immediately leave?

💬 Community Question What’s the most annoying thing about finding teammates on Discord? 🎮

Quick question for gamers:

What annoys you most when trying to find people to play with on Discord?

Is it:

🔕 LFG channels that are basically dead?
📢 Too many role pings?
👻 People joining and then never showing up?
🌍 Finding players in your region or timezone?
🗣️ Finding people who speak your language?
🕒 Finding someone who actually wants to play right now?
🤷 Something completely different?

I’m building LobbyOutPost around making it easier for gaming communities to actually get people playing together, so I’d rather hear the problems people really have than guess.

What’s the #1 thing you would fix about Discord LFG?

🧪 Founding Beta If LobbyOutPost could solve ONE Discord gaming problem for you, which one would it be? 🎮

I’ve spent a lot of time building LobbyOutPost, but before adding more features I want to ask a much simpler question:

If LobbyOutPost could solve ONE problem for you, what should it be?

A) 👥 Find people to play with right now
B) 🟢 See which players are currently available / Playing Now
C) 📅 Organize gaming sessions without endless Discord messages
D) 🔔 Get relevant game updates without notification spam
E) 🌍 Find players by game, language and region
F) 🔎 Discover active players across gaming communities
G) Something else entirely

If you could only keep one, which would you choose?

And if LobbyOutPost is solving the wrong problem altogether — tell me that too.

I’m using the Founding Beta to figure out what gamers actually need, not just what features I can build. 🎮

🛠️ Development Update The bot works. Getting communities to actually try it is the hard part. 🎮

Building LobbyOutPost has taught me something I honestly underestimated:

Building the features isn't necessarily the hardest part. Getting a gaming community to trust and try a new Discord app is.

LobbyOutPost is now at the point where the core experience is running:

🎮 Game discovery & Pulse
👥 Squad Up / LFG
🟢 Playing Now
🌍 Language & region preferences
📅 Game updates & upcoming releases
👤 User Install for players
🏠 Server Install for full community features

So instead of immediately adding another 20 features, I'm spending more time figuring out something more important:

What actually stops people from trying a new Discord gaming app?

Is it…

A) “I don't trust giving a new bot permissions”
B) “Setup usually takes too long”
C) “My server already has too many bots”
D) “I need to see other communities using it first”
E) “I don't immediately understand what it does for me”
F) “I'd rather install it personally than ask an admin”
G) Something else?

This matters a lot for where I take LobbyOutPost next.

I'd rather improve the reason to use it than keep adding features just because I can.

If you're a player, server owner or moderator:

What would make you try a new Discord gaming app — and what would immediately make you avoid one?

I'm genuinely interested in the negative answers too. They are probably more useful right now than “looks cool.” 😄

🛠️ Development Update 🚀 Development Update: Wait for a Squad is now live in LobbyOutPost

LobbyOutPost v0.31 is here — and Squad Up just got another major improvement.

🔔 New: Wait for a Squad

Sometimes you want to play a game, but there’s no open squad at that exact moment.

Instead of creating one yourself or checking Discord over and over, you can now choose “Wait for a Squad.”

LobbyOutPost will temporarily watch that game on the current Discord server for up to 2 hours.

If another player creates a new squad, LobbyOutPost can notify you privately and send you directly to the original public squad post.

Designed to stay low-noise:

  • No permanent subscriptions
  • No role-ping spam
  • No presence tracking
  • No cross-server player profiles
  • No AI match scores
  • No slot reservations

⚡ Quick Create has also been improved

You can now adjust:

  • Start time
  • Voice preference
  • Language
  • Player count

directly from the Quick Create screen, while advanced options like region, playstyle and platform stay under More Settings.

The goal remains the same:

Gaming intent → opportunity → action → people actually playing together. 🎮

LobbyOutPost is still actively evolving, so if you try the new Squad Up flow and notice anything that could be improved, feel free to post it here.

Thanks to everyone following the development. ❤️

🛠️ Development Update How long should a Discord LFG post stay active before it gets out of the way? 🎮

I’m currently tuning Squad Up for LobbyOutPost and there’s one surprisingly important question:
How long should an LFG session actually stay active?

If someone says “looking for 2 more players” and nobody joins, leaving that post around for hours can quickly make an LFG channel feel stale.
But deleting it too quickly could also mean missing the right player.

I’m considering making this depend on the type of squad:
🟢 Playing Now → short lifetime
🕒 Starting Soon → stays active longer
📅 Scheduled Session → stays until the planned start
✅ Full Squad → closes automatically
But I don’t want to choose the timing just because it looks good on paper.

What would YOU prefer as a player or Discord admin?
And if your answer depends on the game — FPS, MMO, raids, co-op etc. — tell me in the comments.
Your feedback can directly affect how Squad Up works in the Founding Beta. 🎮

0 votes, Sep 09 '26
0 30 minutes
0 1 hour
0 2 hours
0 3+ hours
0 Until the squad is full
0 Depends on Playing Now / Scheduled

🛠️ Development Update Would you rather install a Discord gaming app yourself — or ask a server admin to add a bot? 🎮

Traditionally, if you want a useful Discord bot, someone with server permissions has to install and configure it first.
But I’m currently testing a different approach with

LobbyOutPost:
What if a player could install the app for themselves and start using gaming features without waiting for a server admin?

For example:
🎮 Set the games you actually play
🟢 Show when you’re available / Playing Now
🗣️ Set language and region
👥 Find relevant Squad Up sessions
🔕 Control your own notifications
The server-side version would still make sense for community-wide features such as Game Radar, Pulse, announcements and server configuration.
But for personal gaming and LFG features, I’m wondering whether User Install could remove one of the biggest barriers: getting a bot installed in the first place.

So I’d really like your opinion:
As a player, which would you prefer?

A) Install the app on my own Discord account
B) Only use it if my server admin installs the bot
C) Both — personal install + extra server features
D) I wouldn’t install a Discord app on my account

And if you picked D: what would stop you?
Permissions? Privacy? Trust? Too many apps? Something else?

LobbyOutPost is still in Founding Beta, so this is exactly the kind of feedback I want before locking in the final experience. 🎮
I’d rather build around how gamers actually use Discord than assume I know the answer.

🛠️ Development Update Would you use Discord LFG more if it didn’t rely on role pings? 🎮

One of the problems I keep seeing with Discord LFG is that it can become noisy very quickly.

A squad needs one more player → role ping.
Another game starts → another ping.
You’re at work or asleep → more pings.
Eventually people mute the role — or the entire server.

With LobbyOutPost Squad Up, I’m trying to explore a quieter approach.

Instead of simply notifying everyone, the idea is to make matching more relevant:

• 🎮 Games you actually play
• 🌍 Region
• 🗣️ Language
• 🟢 Whether you’re available / playing now
• ⏰ Scheduled squads
• 🔕 Less unnecessary role-ping spam

We’re also currently testing User Install + “Playing Now”, so some parts of the experience may eventually work without requiring every community to fully install the bot.

But before I build too far in one direction, I’d rather ask players and Discord admins:

What would actually make you use LFG more often?

A) Availability / “Playing Now” matching
B) Opt-in notifications or DMs
C) Traditional LFG role pings
D) Scheduled sessions + reminders
E) Cross-server discovery between communities you already share
F) Something completely different

I’m especially interested in what currently annoys you about Discord LFG.

LobbyOutPost is still in Founding Beta, so this kind of feedback can directly influence what we build next. 🎮

🛠️ Development Update We’re testing a different approach to Discord LFG – User Install + “Playing Now” without requiring a full bot install

Traditional Discord LFG usually starts after an admin installs and configures a bot.

With LobbyOutPost, we’re testing whether LFG can start with the player instead.

LobbyOutPost now supports a User Install flow, which means users can add the app to their own Discord account and use personal features even inside servers where LobbyOutPost is not fully installed as a server bot.

We’ve now started testing a lightweight LFG layer called Community Lite:

🎮 Playing Now – explicitly signal that you want to play a game
👥 Who’s Playing Here? – privately see other opted-in players for that game in the same server
⏱️ signals expire automatically after 90 minutes
🔒 no Presence tracking
🔒 no chat scanning
🔒 no member-list scraping

Important distinction:

This is not cross-server LFG.

LobbyOutPost can follow you as a personal Discord app across different servers, but every play signal remains strictly scoped to the server where it was created.

The private Community Lite flow is now working live.

Next we’re testing an optional Play Beacon that a user can deliberately share in a channel so other members can discover that someone is looking to play — without automatic pings, role spam or background monitoring.

If a server later installs LobbyOutPost fully, it unlocks the richer Community Mode with Squad Up, routing and the broader server features.

The question we’re trying to answer is simple:

Would you use a Discord app personally if it could help you find people already inside the servers you’re in, without waiting for an admin to install the full bot first?

LobbyOutPost is still in Public Beta, so feedback can genuinely influence what we build next.

LobbyOutPost is built around one flow:

KNOW → CATCH UP → PLAY TOGETHER

Important game information shouldn't stop at another Discord notification. It should help communities understand what matters and turn that moment into activity.

This is what the current Founding Beta looks like inside Discord.

Feedback from gaming server owners, admins and players is very welcome.

🛠️ Development Update What makes LobbyOutPost different? From game intelligence to actually playing together.

Most gaming Discord communities already have bots.

The problem usually isn’t a lack of bots — it’s fragmentation.

One bot posts news.
Another handles LFG.
Another tracks releases.
Another sends alerts.

And after a while, important information gets buried in noise.

LobbyOutPost is built around a different flow:

KNOW → CATCH UP → PLAY TOGETHER

📡 KNOW — Game Radar & Updates
Follow the games your community actually cares about and surface relevant gaming information with an official-first approach.

⚡ CATCH UP — Pulse
Instead of scrolling through endless messages, Pulse gives members a quick overview of what matters right now.

👥 PLAY TOGETHER — Squad Up / LFG
Information should lead somewhere. When something makes people want to play, Squad Up helps turn that moment into an actual group inside Discord.

That connection is the core idea behind LobbyOutPost:

Gaming intelligence shouldn’t just inform a community — it should create activity.

We’re still testing and improving that idea during the Founding Beta.

So I’d really like feedback from gaming Discord admins, moderators and players:

Which part would be most useful on your server?

• Game updates
• Pulse
• Release tracking
• Squad Up / LFG
• Or something we haven’t built yet?
