👎Low-effort post👎 Potential job offer - Moving to Luxembourg

Hi everyone!

I have just finished the final interview round for a company based in Luxembourg. I am currently wondering whether relocating is worth it.

My current situation:

I live in Poland, 26 yo, quite a decent position for my age earning above an average $$ in Warsaw, about 2300 EUR net, paying about 600 pln for an apartament, able to save about 1000 EUR monthly.

This position pays about 70-75k EUR yearly. As far as I understand that would be about 4300 euro monthly net? Unless I am missing some data. :)

What realistically are the costs of living in Luxembourg? Studio, groceries etc.

Thank you in advance for your help!

👎Low-effort post👎 Moving to Luxembourg for 6 months, any local tips?

Hi everyone! I’m coming to Luxembourg for around 6 months and would really appreciate some local advice. Any tips you wish you knew before coming there? Especially about useful benefits/discounts, everyday costs, or things worth signing up for.
Also, are there any good communities, WhatsApp/Facebook/Reddit groups, or events for meeting people and making friends?
Thanks in advance, even small tips are welcome!

👎Low-effort post👎 Student Visa Proof of Funds Query: Do I need 2 years of living expenses for a 2-year Master's?

Hey everyone!

I'm in the process of preparing my student visa application for my master’s degree and I need some clarity on the exact proof of funds/financial requirements.

Here is the breakdown of my costs:

  • Program Duration: 2 years (4 semesters)
  • Tuition Fees: €6,400 total (€1,600 per semester / €3,200 per year)
  • Living Expenses: €18,200 per year

My main question is regarding the living expenses: Do embassies/immigration authorities usually require proof of living expenses for the FULL 2 years upfront, or is it standard to show 1 year of living expenses + full tuition?

Specifically:

  1. Do I need to show: Full 2-year tuition (€6,400) + 1 year living (€18,200) = €24,600?
  2. Or do I need: Full 2-year tuition (€6,400) + 2 years living (€36,400) = €42,800?

If anyone has recently applied for a visa with a similar 2-year program structure (especially in Luxembourg), how did you handle this? Did you show liquid funds for the second year, or were income proof/sponsorship documents for year two enough?

👎Low-effort post👎 Doing PhD in Uni Luxembourg a good idea?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently finishing my Master's thesis in Germany and I'm seriously considering relocating to Luxembourg for a PhD. However, I’d love to get some insider insights on the academic culture before making the leap.

Background:

  • Master's in AI (the one I am finishing right now), I have experience in finance industry from Denmark.
  • I am fluent in English, I speak French to a level of B2 I struggle a bit with listening in french, and German B2 learned it in High school.

I previously did an internship at Spuerkeess. I absolutely loved my time in the country, and given the profile, Luxembourg feels like a very logical destination

I’m would like to know more about the actual uni experience. Here in Germany, I constantly hear stories and read posts about how incredibly stressful the PhD culture can be (heavy workloads, intense pressure, strict hierarchies, etc.).

My Questions:

  1. What is the work-life balance and general stress level like for PhD students at the Uni of Luxembourg (specifically at SnT or in the computer science/AI departments)?
  2. For those who know both systems, how does the academic culture in Luxembourg compare to Germany?
  3. In case one does not wish to continue in academia after their PhD how reputable is the uni to the industry in Lux?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

👎Low-effort post👎 Invoicing Software for Small Company

Hello,

I am looking for advice/solution on an accounting software that doesn’t charge by transaction or subscription. I tried odoo but it seems too complicated for me.

The amount of invoices are few but transaction amount is generally in thousands. I use free invoicing from guichet for govt bodies but there has been no good solution for Private consumers.

Solutions tried so far - Revolut, Stripe, Squarespace and Quickbooks. All of them either have hefty subscription, invoice based commission or not customisable for my business.

👎Low-effort post👎 help : law, Lux, internship

Hi I am a French girl at the end of my studies (second year of masters) and applying for a business law internship in Luxembourg do you have some advice ?

I ve been refused to CMS, DLA Piper, AKD, BDO, Ardian, Tikehau Capital, EY...

I am looking to apply in more specific mid-sized business law firms but I don't know who they are.

And I receive the advice to do more spontaneous applies than respond to offers.

👎Low-effort post👎 Leaving a stable job in India - Moving to Lux (spouse already working in Lux Big4s) - Suggestions required!!

I am 35 M (married).. currently no kids.
My wife is currently working in Lux on a direct work opportunity from one of the Big4s. If I am not wrong she is holding a work visa for 3-5 years. She is asking me to leave my job in India which is generating 1.5 lacs/month India (1368 Euros per month) and move to lux and find a job there.

I need to know 2 things:

  1. Will it be a viable option to leave a stable job and move there?
  2. My role is related to HR - Resource Management with 12 years of experience. Will I have enough opportunities for this role or similar roles there?
  3. I do not have local dialect proficiency.. but I will learn it for sure.

Also, I have a home loan of 1.3 crores (118K euros) that I need to fulfil through monthly EMIs.. while my spouse gave me a backing that she will support until I find a job in lux.
I am not sure if this is a huge risk I am taking if I have to leave India and go to lux or will it result in best output.
In case if I don’t get a job in say 6-12 months, I will have to comeback to India and my spouse will also have to accompany back and she will be relieved from her work contract in her current company and has to find a new one in India.. basically both will come jobless.

Do let me know your inputs.. I need some clarity for my life right now…

👎Low-effort post👎 How did you actually find your room or flat in Luxembourg?

Hi all,

I'm relocating to Luxembourg in September and the housing search has been... an experience. I've been going through atHome, Immotop, Furnishe.lu, RoomieRadar, and a few coliving operators, but most of what I find is either way above budget or gone before I can reply.

For those of you who actually landed a decent place, I'm curious:

- Which platform or method actually worked for you? Was it one of the big portals, a Facebook group, word of mouth, an agency, or something else entirely?

- Did you find your place before arriving, or only after showing up and searching in person?

- Any platforms or agencies you'd recommend avoiding (without naming and shaming, just general advice)?

- For those who went through an agency: was the fee worth it, or would you skip it next time?

I'm specifically looking for a room with a reasonable number of flatmates (not 6+ people sharing one bathroom), so if anyone has tips for finding smaller flatshares, I'm all ears.

Thanks in advance - any honest experience helps.

👎Low-effort post👎 how is the construction market currently holding up in Luxembourg?

Hi everyone, i'm french.

I'm retraining to become a heavy equipment operator, aiming for tower cranes and excavators. With the construction market in France practically stalled for beginners, I'm looking into working across the border in Luxembourg since my mother lives right nearby.

How is the construction sector doing over there right now compared to France? Are temp agencies and local companies still taking on newly certified operators, or is the market frozen around experienced profiles only?

Thanks for your feedback!
