Spoilers! [SPOILERS EP 4] VisionQuest just delivered the absolute best twist, but did Vision really have no other choice? Spoiler

That ending in Episode 4 completely blew me away.
Seeing Ultron finally pilot Vision's body after 11 years since Age of Ultron was peak MCU horror, especially with how cold-blooded he was in baiting Jocasta to vaporize Dr. Katerina Wells.
I love the direction the show is taking, but it left me with a huge debate:
1. Was Vision reckless or backed into a corner? He yielded physical control thinking Ultron was the only way to stop the Butcherbird Killer, but did he genuinely trust him, or was it pure desperation?
2. Ultron's endgame: Now that Ultron locked Vision away in the Mindspace and took off with Tommy, what do you think his real goal is? Is he rebuilding a twisted version of a "family," or using Tommy's abilities for something far darker?
3. The morality shift: Vision letting an Al as dangerous as Ultron take the wheel resulted in a civilian's death. How does he come back from that guilt once he breaks out?
What did you all think of the climax and Spader's voice work here?

Discussion (More in Comments) Loki is a proof of how some characters write their ending themselves.

Post image

As a writer, i have always believed that a good written character writes its own ending and the writers should let them write their own journey, instead of forcing them into a pre conceived idea of an ending. Audience can always tell when a character betrays themselves to serve a plot point.

Discussion I think Maggie gets judged way too harshly in the first Ant-Man

The first Ant-Man is really good at making you root for Scott. He's funny, loves his daughter, and went to prison for doing something he believed was right.

So when Maggie tells him he needs to get his life together before he can have a normal relationship with Cassie again, it feels like she's being unnecessarily difficult.

But we're watching the movie from Scott's perspective.

Maggie spent three years raising their daughter while he was in prison. He gets out, struggles to keep a job, hasn't caught up on child support, and starts getting involved in something that looks suspiciously like more criminal activity.

We know he's training to become a superhero. Maggie doesn't.

And Paxton isn't some evil stepdad trying to replace Scott. He's a cop who's helping raise Cassie, and from his perspective her biological father seems determined to land himself back in jail.

What I like is that the movies don't eventually reveal Maggie and Paxton were terrible people who needed to be proven wrong. Scott earns their trust, Paxton earns Scott's respect, and by the second movie they're genuinely affectionate with each other.

I remember finding Maggie annoying when I first watched Ant-Man. Now I think her reaction was pretty reasonable, even if the birthday party scene was rough.

It's an unusually adult family dynamic for a superhero movie. Scott being a good guy doesn't automatically make everyone who sets boundaries with him the bad guy.

Humour I just said to my GF, “He’s Moon Knight, the human avatar of the Egyptian god of the moon, whose name is Konshu” and I think that’s the nerdiest thing I’ve ever said. What’s yours?

• Upvotes

We are watching Moon Knight and the first time he suited up she said, “Who’s that? Sand Man?”
This was my response and luckily she did not give me a hard time about it. Just a joke, but humor me.

Discussion Were you already a fan of marvel stuff (x men etc) before iron man 2008?

• Upvotes

I was a fan of the x men movies (even tho they (especially the prequel with James mcavoy) were ever self contradictory and riddled with other problems) so watching mcu movies first mentioning of mutant or finally making Wanda the scarlet witch and being related(ish) to Piertro (ish) (he was Ralph boner all along hahah) felt very special to me. My bf had watched mostly the big ones like endgame and wanted me to do the marathon with him before we go to doomsday because he hadn’t seen x men or captain America, eg. And those things like seeing Patrick Stewart for him was just like ha cool!

I wish he experienced what I felt 🥲. If you were a fan, how did you feel? If you were not a fan already, were you like oh cool

Discussion Clarifying post on how Mjolnir works

Wanted to make a post cause I’ve seen several different misconceptions I wanted to address.

  1. Ive seen people say “it doesn’t make sense that Cap gets lighting powers if Ragnarok reveals that Thor’s powers are innate and don’t come from the hammer”

When Odin enchants the hammer, it’s “whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor” - the hammer give you Thor’s innate powers while you’re holding it if you’re worthy.

Thor doesn’t have his powers in the first movie without the hammer because Odin also magically took away Thor’s innate power in that movie. He says “I take from you your power” before sending him to earth.

  1. I’ve seen people say “it doesn’t make sense that Mjolnir gives Jane a costume but doesn’t give Cap a costume”

Given Thor’s costume manifests when he gets the hammer back at the end of the first movie, but doesn’t manifest every single time he picks up or summons the hammer, either costume generation is one of Thor’s innate powers, and would therefore be granted by the hammer, or something about Mjolnir can optionally give the user a costume. Things not happening exactly the same way every time isn’t a logic gap, it’s clearly just an optional way the thing works.

  1. I’ve seen people say Vision is not actually worthy, given the elevator conversation at the end of AoU.

I believe that conversation is meant to be taken as a gag. Tony and Steve are riffing, downplaying Vision’s worthiness, and kinda ironically making fun of Thor by pretending they need to protect his feelings for not being the special hammer boy anymore. Thor ignores all their riffing and says “if he can lift Mjolnir, he can keep the mind stone”, so clearly Thor believes Vision is worthy.

  1. I’ve seen people say that Cap wasn’t worthy in AoU but became worthy when he was no longer keeping a secret from Tony.

Lots of points here, firstly: Feige, the Russos, and Joss Whedon have all said that he could’ve picked it up in AoU. So the intent of the scene is that he was pretending not to be able to pick it up.

Secondly: Keeping a secret does not prevent you from being worthy, Thor lies to a whole bunch of people, betrays his father, and rebels against Asgard in The Dark World. Cap didn’t even know for sure Bucky killed Tony’s parents, he knew HYDRA did it, and he could’ve had a reasonable suspicion. But there was nothing sinister or even immoral in keeping that quiet given Tony tried to kill a man who had no control of his actions when he found out.

Thirdly: Cap NEVER actually revealed the “secret”. He didn’t come clean with tony, Zemo showed tony. If keeping the secret made him unworthy, he would never have been absolved of it.

And fourthly: If Cap didn’t know for sure that he could lift it, he wouldn’t have wasted time trying to in the moment in Endgame. He has seconds left until Thor dies, he wouldn’t waste those seconds trying to pick up the famously immovable hammer unless he already knew it was definitely an option.

Discussion (More in Comments) If you’re not famous with the cast of 2028 X-Men..

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

It’s been a very mixed bag on the subreddit of people either appreciating or complaining that nobodies or up and coming actors are being casted as the MCU X-Men. I will give you some roles to familiarize yourself with the cast so you can see their chops and potentials.

-Sadie Sink (Jean Grey) probably the most famous one out of the cast (besides Adam Driver) Most famous for Stranger Things, and has been in Fear Street, The Whale, Dear Zoe, O’Dessa, and of course Spider-Man Brand New Day

-Kit Connor (Cyclops) is most famous for Heartstopper (also stars Joe Locke/William Kaplan/Wiccan) Also voiced in The Wild Robot and The Dark Materials and played in Rocketman.

-Samara Weaving (Emma Frost) modern horror scream queen. The Babysitter duology, Scream 6, Ready or Not duology, Mayhem, Monster Trucks,Babylon, and Over Your Dead Body.

Inde Naverette (Rogue) most famously known as Nikki Freeman in this year’s Obsession, but before that her most known roles were for 13 Reasons Why and Superman and Lois

Maya Boyd (Storm) her feature film debut, has not been in any particular projects but is, like many of the other cast mates, a theater actor.

-Asa Germann (Angel) Asa is most famous for playing Sam on Gen V, but he was also in the (imo terrible) Scream 7 and that’s really all he’s been in too 🤣🙏🏾

-Christopher Abbott (Charles Xavier) is pretty underrated if I do say so myself. He’s been in A Most Violent Year, It Comes At Night, Black Bear, Poor Things, Kraven the Hunter, Wolf Man, Catch-22, The Crowded Room, East of Eden, and You Can See Everything.

The one that’s not pictured is Peter Claffey. There hasn’t been any official reliable confirmation that he’s playing Beast/Hank McCoy and at the risk of this post being either aged like fine wine or milk, screw it!

Peter Claffey is best known for playing in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. He’s also been in Small Things Like These (with Cillian Murphy) and shows called Wreck and Vikings: Valhalla!!

And that’s it! Hope this helps genuinely and maybe gives some of you a bit of insight on the cast of the upcoming X-Men movie! 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Question Ms Marvel

Just in case Ms Iman has a burner account and sees this, I love Ms Marvel and it's because of you. Aside from being completely beautiful (🤗🫣) her portrayal was really good. Never was a Ms marvel fan before but I knew a little about her. The (SPOILER) mutant reveal was kinda awesome. I hope we get to see her in future X-Men movies. Question though: the MCU has been introducing other cosmic heroines, do you think we'll see Quasar, and if so, 🥺💔 will Ms Marvel have to go? I don't know the full story but I think in the comics he takes her bands. I hope not. She's too amazing. Anyway I hope Ms Iman sees this! (Also I love you 🥺😂🫶)

Cosplay My first costume build, Doctor Doom

It all started with getting a cheap 3D printed Doctor Doom mask from Etsy and thinking, "I wonder if I can build a costume."

It took me nearly one year to learn how to fabricate EVA foam, dry brush acrylic paint to look like metal, program arduinos (2x) to control RGB LED sequencing, and sew my first thing ever.

The design is based on a Pepakura download from Etsy, but it seemed a little basic, sooooo I added a few things. The only thing here that I didn't make or alter is the chainmaile print shirt.

What a journey towards Doomsday!

Blu-ray Steelbook + 4K Blu-ray Steelbook

There’s not much to be said about this movie that hasn’t already been said. It did everything it needed to do to prove the concept of the MCU and did so in an incredibly entertaining package. The chemistry between the cast is perfect, and every character gets great moments to shine!

Discussion If Adamantium bullets could pierce a Vibranium body, then what will happen when Wolverine’s claws eventually slash against Cap’s shield?

Thumbnail

Visionquest has made it MCU canon that Adamantium is stronger than Vibranium.

So I was wondering…when the MCU Wolverine eventually pops up and uses his Adamantium claws on Cap’s Vibranium shield, will he destroy it?

Maybe Logan destroying Cap’s shield will be what necessitates a second shield being made (which would be a combination of Adamantium and Vibranium, like the comics) which would have the design of Sam Wilson’s current blue shield in the comics.
