Election day
Go vote!
r/mississauga • u/Iradecima • Sep 15 '26
Did you know that we had a 21.84% voter turnout in the 2022 election? That's pathetic! We had less turnout than Brampton. C'mon Mississauga, we can do better than that. Please go out and vote! Remember: if you don't like any of the candidates you can decline, reject or spoil your ballot so that your displeasure is counted.
Election Day is October 26. Polling locations open at 9am.
Advance voting takes place October 6-11th
We are voting for: Mayor, your Ward/Regional Councillor and School Board Trustees for the City of Mississauga for the 2026 to 2030 term of office.

Your locally-elected representatives that serve as the community’s advocates for public education. They are responsible for student achievement and well-being, for ensuring effective stewardship of the board’s resources and for delivering effective and appropriate education programs for their students.
WHICH BOARD AM I VOTING FOR
In Ontario, there are English public and Catholic (separate) school boards, as well as French Catholic and public boards. People are assigned to the English Public school board by default.
You can only be a supporter of a French or Catholic board if you are of the Catholic faith or speak French as a first language.
You can set your school support designation through MPAC:
June 1 was the deadline to update your school support designation so MPAC could provide accurate information to Elections Ontario for the creation of the Preliminary List of Electors, in accordance with election timelines. You can still update your designation after June 1 using MPAC AboutMyProperty™ or MPAC’s online portal for tenants. Your change will be recorded by MPAC, but it will not appear on the Preliminary List of Electors. After submitting your update, you’ll receive an email confirmation. Share this with your municipality so your information can be updated on the final Voters List.

Whoever was throwing out the green bin today destroyed my yard waste bag and left it on the curb. To say I'm mildly infuriated is putting it lightly. I know it was them because pieces of the yard waste bag were underneath my empty compost green bin.

My fiance and I are looking for wedding dresses and she wants a dress that ideally is mostly a traditional dress, but with some green floral designs on it as well. Does anyone here know if anything like that exists in the GTA?

A futuristic downtown skyline, highlighted by the twisting Absolute World towers and the blocky, under-construction M City skyscrapers. To the left, a seemingly infinite row of heavy-duty wooden utility poles and messy overhead power lines runs down the grassy sidewalk, looking hilariously like a rural highway that accidentally crashed into a sci-fi metropolis. The warm golden hour sunlight denches the entire scene, giving the clash between suburban sprawl and high-rise density a dramatic, cinematic glow. #OhMyDouglas

Please be aware of a psychopath walking the Waterfront Trail around Jim Tovey/Marie Curtis park.
I was riding along and see this guy and his wife/girlfriend in front of me walking on the wrong side of the path. I moved over to the centre to avoid him and he strong armed my bike straight into the path another bike coming from the opposite direction.
No personal damage but both our bikes were damaged.
Another cyclist went looking for him to take his photo but they went off trail. The cyclist said it was the second time today that the psycho has done this.
PSA. In Canada, we drive on the right and walk/bike paths on the right as well.

I only know of these noodles existing in mall food courts. Where can one get some Asian noodles like this? All you need is soy sauce and voila.

Have you recently gotten into the tv show the Traitors? Are you a huge fan of the social game of Survivor? Do you like board games where you can LARP as a drunk or village idiot? Well if you are, we highly encourage you to come out and experience the highly deceptive and secretive game know as Blood on the Clocktower ("BoTC")!
In BoTC, you are placed in a village with a bunch of strangers who are either friend or foe. Your goal and the groups goal is locate and eliminate the demon and their minions hidden amongst you before they kill the innocent villagers. Or maybe not, maybe you yourself are the demon 😈.
Our excellent storyteller and game master will help guide all new players to the game and make sure that you have a great time. We've run this event several times and the amount of fun and hilarious twists we've experienced make it a cult classic with the group.
(Honestly, personally speaking this is probably one of the best games to play to celebrate Halloween too!!)
The entry fee is $20. This fee helps to cover the cost of the private space we've rented, and includes food for you. Please shoot us a DM if you want to sign up, spots are limited (we only have 9 left as our members gobbled up the rest of the seats!).
And if you want to join our amazing group please shoot us a DM for the discord invite. We run a bunch of side events and activities including TTRPG sessions, Escape Rooms, Food Adventures, Hikes and runs!!

I was going through the city of Mississauga's website to find where do I vote. I am not sure which maps they are using but it is not accurate/up-to-date.
It shows a Canadian Tire at Lakeshore and Cawthra, in place of a McDonalds, Shoppers and many more stores. I noticed it as I live close by. Wonder how many more such mistakes are there in this ESRI powered map.

A lady stopped on the street, at Nahani way and Belbin St. Is stopped asking for help with her car. Talking with her for 1 min her story made no sense to me so I just left. Tried to call the police, they sent me to the non emergency number (fair), and at that number nobody answered.
Be advised, in this type of scam she may try to offer some collateral (typically fake jewelry) for some money so she can get her car fixed.
-- EDIT to add details --
I believe in looking out for our community, which is the reason why I pulled over.
I can't say with 100% certainty this was a scam, but the interaction raised a red flag for me
I’m frustrated that the police don't have a way for residents to verify or report suspicious encounters like this.
What happened:
Because the Eglinton and Hurontario intersection is closed for construction, I took the back streets to get from East to West Eglinton. That's when I saw a woman waving down passing cars, so I pulled over.
The interaction went more or less like this:
Me: "Good morning, are you okay?"
Her: "Do you know anything about cars?"
Me: "What’s going on? How can I help?"
Her: "I need to get to a client, but when I turn the key, it goes tick tick tick (she made sounds) but the car won't start."
Me: "That sounds like a dead battery. You’ll need a boost, but I don't have jumpers on me. Do you have roadside assistance?"
Her: "Yes, but they take too long. Can you just come over to my car and check it out?"
Me: "Sorry, without a booster or jumpers there's nothing I can do. Roadside assistance is your best bet. Have a good day."

A large, plump white Pekin duck floats serenely on water that looks like a liquid optical illusion, radiating absolute "no thoughts, head empty" energy.
The duck, looking like a flawless scoop of vanilla ice cream, has its eyes peacefully closed in a state of pure bliss or deep midday dissociation. Its bright pinkish-orange bill is slightly upturned as if it knows it is beautiful. Below, the water is a mesmerizing, dizzying ripple of bright gold, bronze, and copper reflections from autumn trees, framing the duck as it lounges majestically in what looks like a giant bowl of melted caramel. #OhMyDouglas

I'm in his Ward and I've been trying to find any information on him. He reguarly calls our landline with those pre recorded messages.
I looked at his Twittsr and he seems very religious. But there is close to nothing on what he actually stands for. He's deputy mayor and just crickets online.
I also did a search on him and lgbt and nothing as well. He never mentions Pride month like other Mississauga city Hall public servants.
I grew up all through the Hazel years where there were no lgbt celebrations or events. We didn't exist. It's only in the last decade and a half where things have changed for the better.
I want to know anything about this man. I want to do my civic duty and vote knowing what and who I'm voting for.

Noticed a lot of vintage, classic and historic vehicles in Mississauga. Are there any local groups for meet-ups, group cruising ?
