Hello everyone!
Lately, I've found myself torn between two political outlooks: democratic socialism and progressive Catholic monarchism. I'm still trying to work out where I stand, so I thought this community might offer some interesting perspectives.
What appeals to me about democratic socialism is its emphasis on social justice. I believe that a decent society should protect the vulnerable, provide people with access to healthcare and education, defend workers' rights, and ensure that human dignity means more than simply having equal rights on paper. At the same time, I'm not particularly attracted to political movements that treat religion and tradition as obstacles to progress.
As a Catholic, I find the Church's social teaching — particularly its emphasis on solidarity, human dignity and the common good — compelling. I believe that a society should be judged not only by its prosperity, but also by how it treats those who have the least.
This is partly what draws me towards monarchism. The idea of a Crown standing above party politics, representing national continuity and a sense of duty beyond electoral cycles, genuinely appeals to me. I like the idea of public authority being understood as a responsibility to serve rather than merely an opportunity to exercise power.
Nevertheless, I have some serious reservations.
Why should someone inherit a position of constitutional importance rather than earn it through democratic elections? Can hereditary monarchy really be reconciled with political equality? And, perhaps most importantly, what can a constitutional monarchy offer a modern democratic society that a well-functioning republic cannot?
I'm not interested in arguments based purely on nostalgia, royal pageantry or the romanticisation of the past. I want to understand whether monarchy has a convincing philosophical and practical justification in the twenty-first century.
So here's my challenge to the monarchists of this subreddit: convince me.
Give me your strongest arguments, whether philosophical, historical, constitutional or rooted in Catholic political thought. Explain why monarchy is worth defending, how it can serve ordinary people, and why its advantages might outweigh its inherent problems.
I'm particularly interested in hearing from those who support constitutional government, social responsibility and the welfare of the people, rather than those who defend monarchy simply because they admire royal families.
I'm genuinely undecided, and I'm willing to have my views challenged. Perhaps the arguments presented here will help me understand where I truly stand.
Thank you for reading. I look forward to a thoughtful and cordial discussion!

"Dear students, dear youth of Serbia, From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you on your great victory! With courage and perseverance, you have awakened hope and shown that Serbia is loved through deeds. As a Karađorđević, I look with special pride at the generation that preserves the libertarian spirit of our nation. May this victory be the beginning of reconciliation, justice, and the restoration of trust. May it bring us closer and remind us that we build the future of Serbia together. A great responsibility lies before you. I wish for you to carry it honorably, wisely, and humbly, in the service of all citizens. Long live our Serbia! 🇷🇸"

I was wondering this as it was the Germans who sent Lenin back to Russia with the intent of causing instability there and forcing them out of the war.
Had they not done this, is it possible that the Tsar might never have been overthrown, let alone murdered?
Curious what people on here think.

(Apologies if the "Question" flair was not appropriate)
So recently I discovered this poll which used on Wikipedia in which 13% of respondents said they would support monarchy. This sample size is also much larger than the usual polls. I personally think that should relatively realistic though I seriously doubt support would exceed 15% (contrary to what I used to think. France restoring the monarchy is still unlikely). I think it is more realistic than the previous 38% figure which was used there and support being around 10-15% sounds reasonable to me, but I'm curious what you people, especially those who are French, think about this? Please let me know something better if you could tell me.

Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II of Jordan paid his condolences to the families of those killed in the deadly attack on St. George's Greek Orthodox Church in Karak on October 23, 2026. The attack claimed nine lives and left dozens injured. The Crown Prince's visit was a gesture of solidarity with Jordan's Christian community during a time of national mourning.
His mother, Queen Rania also paid her condolences.

As a huge lover of history and someome interested in other cultures, I really monarchist cultural impact and symbolism but as political ideology i disagree with it. I have seen two types of monarchists here, One who wanted powerless and ceremonial powers, the other which is seem to be the overwhelming majority of the subreddit, Monarchies with political power.
For ceremonial monarchies, I can understand why they exist and we people like them, they represent the unity of country even though I hate how they take working class tax money for their wealth.
For powerful monarchies, it seems like everyone here who wants power monarchies but at the same time they all hate current monarchies with power like Moroccan, Saudi, Emmariti and Qatari monarchies. They hate them for the oppression they cause which something happens under every monarchist system yet they still support establishing powerful monarchies, I don't understand why you sre complaining about modern power monarchies being oppressive and wanting to overthrow them when you support something similar that would result in the same results.

Bavarian Minister-President Markus Söder (CSU) inaugurated on October 13th a Bavarian “Way of Honour” in imitation of the Hollywood Walk of Fame as a means of honouring outstanding Bavarian individuals. One of the first two such individuals was Duke Franz of Bavaria, who, “alongside the House of Wittelsbach, stands for the union of tradition and progress as well as the upkeep of the castles in the Free State.”
