Just Ate This Just found a gem in DFW
I’ve been here in the DFW area for 6 years now and it took me this long to find a market that has everything for the food I like to make. And very good little cafeteria that had very good rice and pork. It’s a Caribbean market, so there’s food from Cuba, DR, and PR.

Just Ate This Sampler Plate from Parada 22, San Francisco
I took a friend who had never tried Puerto Rican food and we both ordered our own sampler plate: pernil asado, chicharron de pollo, yuca al mojo, tostones, amarillos maduros and some salsa roja dip. It was excellent. My friend loved it and asked me when are we going back. Made me quite happy.

Just Ate This Breakfast from Las Vistas Cafe
Went to PR at the beginning of the month and this was my favorite breakfast. The fruit was so fresh and delicious and the banana coconut pancakes were amazing!

Just Ate This Pasteles.
Just had Pasteles for the first time. They were absolutely delicious. PR food never disappoints. Thank god we finally got a decent restaurant here that serves good homemade Latin food. I was dying out here!

Just Ate This Pasteles, but in a cupcake tray.
Great way to use up the left over masa sitting in the freezer from making traditional pasteles a few months back.
Banana leaf on the bottom of the tin, brush on some achiote oil. The masa used this time was a plantain masa. the picadillo inside was chopped beef with the typical… sofrito, culantro, etc. Top with more masa. top with other banana leaf piece.
Set cupcake tin in other tray with a lip, i used a larger cookie sheet with edges. Top it up with water. Cover all with foil. This will indirectly steam them.
Bake at 400 for 40min. Take out, let sit with cover on for 5 min. Enjoy.
I think these turned out great, it’s a smaller portion, and they’re not that ‘slimy’ that can happen when pasteles are boiled.
Buen provecho

Just Ate This Sampler Plate de Casa Borinqueña
In case you missed this post by Reva, they're also in Philadelphia.
