What's up?

[Firefox] Reddit Account Switcher not working. Also unable to log out of account using the regular "log out" button when using old.reddit.com . Reddit keeps saying "Reddit Broke" when I try. Logging out only works when I switch to sh.reddit.com instead.

Where does it happen?

Running current RES on Macbook Pro Tahoe V26.6.2. I have UBlock Origin Light for Chrome. I have the RES setting where all child comments are hidden in every thread. Starting today, I can click 'show n child comments, and they will load, but if I click 'show n child comments' on one of those child comments (AKA a grandchild comment), I get an infinite red "loading..." cue like this.

What's up?

The latest release of the RES Firefox extension (5.24.11) requires at least version 140. I'm using an old Mac that can't run higher than ESR 115, is there any possibility of continuing to support 115, or does some new functionality require 140?

So a while back (maybe 1-2 months ago) a problems started occurring where whenever i receive a comment reply and view my inbox, the notification in the top right will still be orange and still show it as if its unread. Even replying to the comment doesnt fix it. the only way i've been able to clear my inbox is by clicking "source" under every reply and clicking the text, or vieweing "context" of a reply. anyone happen to know if this would be something caused by RES?

What's up?

When expanding YouTube links (both posts and comments) (example 1, example 2), the resulting embedded video is using a new embedded video player that is worse than the old one (can't double-click to go full-screen, and a dimmed overlay with a play/pause button will display over the video any time you mouse over it, so the slightest mouse wiggle will pop it back up).

I much preferred the video player that was used previously. I suspect this is probably YouTube worsening embedded players to drive people to watch the video on YouTube, so they can better track what users are watching and serve up ads.

Where does it happen?

For all YouTube expandos - both posts and comments.

What browser extensions are installed?

• RES
• Old Reddit Redirect
• LeechBlock NG
• NoScript
• uBlock Origin

(Note that all of these were present before the video player changed, so I do not suspect they are the cause.)

NOTE: My gut feeling is that this is likely something that RES will not have control over, and that RES is likely stuck using whatever embedded player that YouTube provides, but I wanted to bring it up in case it can be reverted / by-passed.

Thank you to everyone who makes RES happen! I am very fond of it and very thankful for the work you have done to make Reddit less shitty!!

What's up? Starting yesterday, the account switcher doesn't switch accounts anymore, it only logs me out. The popup that would normally say successfully switched says that it couldn't switch them due to load

What's up? I tried to expand a twitter/x link to display an image. I failed to click the allow permission, and now all x link images are gone.

Is there a way to manually add the allow permission, or retrigger the ask prompt?

What's up?

Edit: as of 2026-09-08 this is now working correctly.

For the domain i.reddit.com, the [l+c] opens two new tabs, but both are the comment window. This is recent behavior; it worked properly two days ago. It still works correctly for other domains.

I know about problems the domain reddit.com; this is i.reddit.com

The comment or subreddit filters are working I believe. I see the posts are supposed to be filtered by title or flair. I have many regexes for both titles and comments. I haven't changed any setting to break the filtering.

When I reply to a comment and hit save, the form just says submitting... and never completes. But if I refresh the page, or look at the comments I've submitted in my profile, I can see the comment has been saved.

In firefox on Linux the shortcut for switching tabs is alt + number (unlike windows where its ctrl + number). Switching into an RES enabled reddit tab works fine. Once you're in however you can not switch out of it again with the alt + number shortcuts.

I tested both with the RES extensions enabled and disabled and confirmed it is only happening when RES is enabled.

• As of today, when clicking the expando button for links on any page, it no longer changes the color of the link to dark grey on night mode (or purple on day mode). It only affects media (image/video) links. Text links still behave as intended.

What's up? When I go to switch account a pop up says reddit is under heavy load and to try again later. This always happens no matter how long I wait. When I refresh to page I'm logged out of reddit entirely

Edit: Just discovered now when using new reddit I can switch fine. Seems to be an issue with old reddit specifically?

Where does it happen? On the entire site.

i have certain words in custom filters and i'm still seeing them in reddit title posts.

this used to work, i havent changed anything.

im on a pc, firefox

When using the Filterline filter, I have a basic filter, 'visited'. I normally filter out the visited items.

As of today, this filter seems to just not work. When I invert it (to only show visited links), it does show a handful, but then when I switch it back to block visited links, it's still showing mostly visited items.

Where does it happen? In Filterline, any subreddit.

What browser extensions are installed? No new ones recently (in between the filter working, and now)

With the recent issues of the account switcher no longer working due to Reddit changes. We have taken the decision to disable the account switcher from RES and migrate people who have it enabled to be turned off.

With the endpoint no longer working and no option for us, we do not want to set expectation that it should work.

We will be releasing 5.24.9 today with this and a few quality of life bug fixes.

The module can still be found here.

Recovering Passwords Via RES Command Line

1. Launch the RES command line:
   • Press . (period) using Keyboard Navigation
   • or click here and click Launch (do this in a new tab).
2. A black box will appear.
3. Copy and paste in: RESStorage get RESoptions.accountSwitcher and press enter.
4. A box will appear containing a pile of JSON like {"accounts":{"value":[["username","password",false],["user1","user1password",false]]}}
5. Look for your account and password (bolded above).

What's up?

A day or two ago RES stopped being able to switch/login into reddit accounts. If I click and choose an account it gives me an error:

"Could not switch accounts. Reddit may be under heavy load. Please try again in a few moments."

The only way to switch or login is to click "sign up" and the choose "login" from reddit dialog box that pops up.
