Admittedly didn't expect to do another tierlist after Series 7 but given the three reboot seasons have so few I went ahead and did Series 8 (and maybe 9 and 10 as well) for the sake of it. Have a go yourself: https://tiermaker.com/create/robot-wars-eighth-wars-competitors-17487350

The city trembled as Tech Head stepped into the street, surrounded by a swarm of high-tech robots and razor-winged drones. Red targeting lasers swept across his armor. Above him, the drones descended with a mechanical howl.

“Let’s see what you’ve got,” he said.

The first robot charged. Tech Head slid beneath its swinging arm, planted a pulse charge on its chest, and rolled clear. BOOM! The blast sent the machine crashing into two others.

The drones opened fire. Blue energy bolts tore through the pavement as Tech Head sprinted for cover, his visor flashing warnings. He launched a grappling cable around a streetlight, swung into the air, and slammed feet-first into a drone. Sparks flew as he seized its controls and sent it spiraling into the swarm.

For a moment, the sky cleared. Then the largest robot stepped through the smoke, its armored fists glowing with power. It struck the ground, splitting the street beneath Tech Head’s feet.

He looked up, grinned, and powered up his gauntlets.

“Now this is a fight.”

A few months ago I showed up on this subreddit saying I was working on a documentary about the early history of robot combat, and dropped the first 18 minutes as a teaser here.

Progress on the documentary has been slow, but I'm hoping that I can get a lot of work done over the next two weeks. In the meantime, allow me to show you the first 23 minutes of the documentary:

I always thought this robot was underrated in terms of looks, with all those panels, seams, drawn on bolts, and the teeth and eyes. It's one of my favourite looking robots ever, but they came back the next year with an ugly looking fiberglass shell. Perhaps the biggest downgrade ever. Went from personality 100 to personality 0 in a year.

Discuss any other robot you think had a bigger downgrade (or upgrade) in one iteration.

Hey people, my amazing girlfriend has bought me tickets for the Robots Live show in Stoke later this month...I already know team Apollo are planning to be there (which I'm really excited about), but are there any other RW teams confirmed (or that will probably be there)? I'm a little apprehensive that my lack of robot combat knowledge post-2017 will make it all a bit of a metallic blur.

Also: are there any non-RW era bots I should be looking out for? (A bit of knowledge/narrative might help me understand what I'm watching).

Apologies for being such a giant casual, but any advice or info on the kind of roster I can expect would be appreciated.

Introducing my latest Antweight replica of a Heavyweight robot, this time its PO4 from Extreme Robots ! The Heavyweight PO4 is a product of Team Roaming Robots XR Academy, which allows builders access to tools and machinery to help them achieve their roboteering dreams and is an ode to Protsmouth FC, the postcode of which is where it gets its name.

The Antweight version features as many details as i could muster at this scale, including the PO4 Logos on the upper portions of the armour, the bolt on HDPE armour panels, the access flap in the right hand side armour, as well as the Portsmouth FC crest on the rear end.

Overall im really happy with how this one came out and whilst i dont have plans to fight with this one (i suspect it would "do the thing" and get stuck on its sides if flipped), it should make a nice detailed addition to the ever growing collection of Antweight Replicas on my desk at work.
