Might get hate for this but I guess it probably boils down to another thing in the lack of affordability.
I have been donating to county clothesline for years. They are the preferred location for me to donate to and occasionally shop at for a thrift store because they give back to the Sherwood Park community. That being said I need to ask a question— what is going on with the pricing at County clothesline?
Maybe I am missing something about why the prices are being set so high and I would truly like to understand. I just walked out of there completely flabbergasted at how the prices were set for some of these items. Mind you, these are all donated items. A vintage coat for $500, a regular polyester and well worn coat for $60, Small Tupperware containers that looked at least 30 years old priced at $5/piece, a big ziploc of random LEGO pieces for $100, an outdated giant picture for $40, worn toddler shoes for $8, a well worn and dirty purse (non designer) for $30, one mug for $5. I could go on….what am I missing? Thrift stores used to be a place where people who wanted to shop sustainably or people who couldn’t afford brand new could shop. People in our community. Why are many of these items being sold for higher prices than what someone could buy for brand new? I know county clothesline is non-profit. I know value village and goodwill ARE for profit. Seriously though, who is pricing these items and WHY are they being priced so high?
