Theater #4 at Cineplex isn't properly set up for 4:3 films
This is the weirdest and most nit picky complaint, but it has happened twice now.
First was Primetime and noticed that something was off. The sides of the screen as they approach the top begin to come in. It wasn't the worst thing in the world, but it meant some of the scenes felt a little more soft than they should.
Then last night I saw You Can See Everything and it was REALLY noticeable to me. It almost looks like the top bar that holds up the screen has slumped down over the years so now the screen isn't entirely straight and both sides of the film were keystoning inwards towards the top of the screen and it was incredibly distracting.
I assume this is not an issue for them with Widescreen films because you can go a little over the bounds when projecting those, but for 4:3 it was supremely distracting. Am I the only one noticing this or are there film obsessives out there who have noticed this as well? I just wish they would hire a decently paid projectionist again, it was one of the biggest losses when the theater was bought by cineplex and switched everything to fire and forget digital projection.
