Troubleshooting Tips

1. Update your mods, if an update is available, otherwise take it out and wait for an update

   • HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED TO UPDATE MY MOD(S)?
     • Use mod status master lists: Scarlet's Realm, LuthienRising, OR check the mod creators' platforms (twitter/X, Patreon, discord)
     • Don’t know how to update? Scroll down for general instructions but you should check the specific mods’ instructions as they can vary!
       

2. Test vanilla: remove ALL of your mods, delete cache and repair your game. DO NOT SAVE YOUR GAME WITH YOUR MODS REMOVED.

   • Delete cache:
     • Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/ on both PC and Mac.
     • Delete the localthumbscache.package file
   • Repair Game:
     • Launch the EA app and go to your Library.
     • Find The Sims 4 and select the three-dot menu in the top right-hand corner of the game tile.
     • Choose Repair.
   • Repair via steam
     • Open your Steam library, right-click the Sims 4 tile, and select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of the game files.

3. Try a new save to test if the problem is still happening.

5. Updated your mods or creator cleared them but something is still broken?

   • Mod creators can't test for every situation, you have to test for yourself using methods above.
   • Report the bug to the creator, links usually can be found on their Patreon, discord or other platform.

Troubleshooting mod recommendation: Better Exceptions by TwistedMexi, there is also last exception help with MCCC if you use it. These are NOT guaranteed, if you can’t find the problem using these, you will need to do the 50/50 Method.

Remember, even mods that never ever break or CC can cause issues. UI can be broken even if the mod(s) are not UI-related.

HOW TO UPDATE MODS:

• Delete the old file, DO NOT TRY TO OVERRIDE OR REPLACE FILE
• Unzip and move new file into the mods folder
• Delete cache and repair game
• Correct file path: Documents > EA > The Sims 4 > Mods* Make sure it is NOT in your OneDrive and make sure you unzip the file.

You cannot update mods until the modders have updated them, check the release date, check the version number. Do not just delete and reinstall the same version. Also, do not update your mods if you have not updated your game.

Please note: CurseForge is known for being behind in the updates the creator makes, so if you use their mod manager, make sure it is the correct version by checking the date.

Hello, I found a feet mesh I really like but It's broken and the author of the mod is not active anymore I think. I tried to fix the mesh myself in blender but well... I have no idea how to use it. Would anyone be willing to fix it?

it's been stuck like that for hours, and I mean HOURS. I left my pc on for the night and went to school and it was still trying to scan the last files. I tried resetting the s4mm settings, deleting folders, clean reinstalls, deleting local files from sims 4 folder, changing S4MM versions and nothing. It's been weeks and I can't open this shit...

anyone know how to fix this? i install wonderful whims from itch.io

My sims look dumb just standing around unless theyre doing something, are there mods for poses they will automatically go to when not performing actions?

I really love skills and am looking for more to spice up my gameplay! all different ones are cool!

I've got most expansions(I think all?), most game packs(no Batu and I think I'm missing one or two others as well, don't really remember) and several stuff packs so dependency is fine!

So this is barely mod related, but what do you do when you need to join a mod discord server, but discord won't let you verify your phone number to be able to chat at all? Am I just never getting into it? 🫠

I'm rather tired of my sims deciding they LOVE something and every single free second they get they race to do it (fitness or whatever) to the detriment of their own basic needs. Sometimes to the needs of their own children.
I mean, can we at least vary what the sims do with their autonomy.
I always give my Sims a ton of options. My current house they could do fitness (and that is traditional fitness equipment or swimming), they can do logic skills with a chess board or telescope, they can read, use the computer, play the piano or other musical equipment, use the easel, woodwork or apothecary tables. I mean name a skill category or activity category and I usually have it covered.

yet, the fitness loving sim, I've had to freaking lock out of the room with the treadmill before. My husband actually had an elder sim die on the treadmill (old age), because they refused to give it up.

It would be much easier to get our sims to level up skills if they would take advantage of all the stuff we bought for them.

I made this sim last year and I can’t find his hair anywhere. He is currently bald.

Sharing a household with a friend always ended the same way for me: the tray importer copies every package the Sim touches, so one lipstick from a 1 GB merge drags the whole merge along.

So I made TrayTrim. You pick a household, lot or room, and it exports a zip with only the CC that's actually used, one small package per item, cut out of whatever merge it's in. It shows the size before you export, warns about missing or conflicting CC, and checks the export file by file afterwards.

It also has a Mods tab that shows what breaks if you delete a package and which of your Sims and lots use it, which helps a lot with cleaning up Mods.

It only reads your Sims 4 folders and never changes anything in them. It's free and open source, for Windows, Mac and Linux. The app isn't signed yet, so Windows will show a SmartScreen warning (More info, then Run anyway).

I'm currently working on developing a religion and belief gameplay mod for The Sims 4, and I'd really love to hear from players who would be interested in something like this.

The goal is to incorporate religion into everyday Sims gameplay in a way that feels immersive, meaningful, and respectful of the beliefs and traditions being represented.

My initial focus is on Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, while also accommodating Sims who are nonreligious.

Rather than developing everything based solely on my own preferences, I'd like to hear what the community actually wants from a mod like this.

My biggest question is:

If you could choose only THREE features for a religion mod, what would be your absolute must-haves?

I'm particularly interested in the things that would make you genuinely want to incorporate the mod into your regular gameplay.

Some possibilities could include:

• Religious affiliations and beliefs that influence Sims' lives. • Functional churches, synagogues, mosques, and religious services. • Religious holidays, celebrations, and traditions. • Religious careers and leadership positions. • Prayer, worship, and religious education. • Religious clothing, dietary customs, and cultural practices. • Raising children within religious households. • Religious relationships, marriage traditions, and interfaith families. • Religious communities and social activities.

These are just examples, though! I'm equally interested in ideas I haven't considered.

A few other things I'd love your thoughts on:

1. What would make this mod feel like an actual gameplay system rather than just another collection of interactions?
2. Are there any particular religious traditions or practices you'd especially like to see represented?
3. Is there anything you think a religion mod should absolutely avoid?

I'm aiming to make the core gameplay compatible with the base game, with additional functionality potentially available through expansion packs.

I'm especially interested in feedback from people familiar with the religions being represented, as I want to approach these traditions respectfully.

Ultimately, I want this to be something players can incorporate naturally into their Sims' lives, whether religion is central to their storytelling or just part of a character's background.

I'd love to hear your ideas and, most importantly, what matters most to you!

I've recently started using the Mod Manager by GameTimeDev and I like it a lot but sometimes modders update their mods before the Mod Manager seems to pick up on it. So I got a notif in game that there's a new version of MCCC but the Mod Manager doesn't say there are any updates available. So I went to my Mods folder to do it manually but it's empty (only has Resource.cfg file) but all my mods are still working in game. Where can I find my mods now so I can update the ones that need manual updating?

Hi guys! I got some kind of slider from a sims dump that makes my sims hips/butt wider/bigger when I change the foot size, but I can't find it in my folder when I search, it doesn't come up in tray importer and it's not in merged packages. Does anyone know of other ways to find it?

Do you guys have any idea how to fix the failed network error when downloading on sims fileshare?

Out and About lets you mark any household member as “Outgoing”, and they’ll start leaving the home for activities that match their personality and skills. Sims may bring friends along or make new ones while they’re away!

I made this mod because I always disliked how you gain full control over the sims you move in with. The character who was once an autonomous NPC is now completely managed by you, loses their personality, and adds a lot more micromanagement.
