This thread is for students applying to Winter 2027 co-ops during the Fall 2026 term.
As usual, we're looking for salaries for new postings, or updates to existing salaries, so if you're willing to share, please open up a chat/DM the mod team. Please include the company name, salary, any benefits, the role and the year if possible. I would highly encourage you to submit if you have salaries for non mathematics/CS positions as we are severely lacking in those. We will try updating these ASAP.
The sheet is here: Salaries + Blacklist Spreadsheet
Average Canadian Co-op Earnings (2024)
If you have details about interviews, rankings, etc, you can add information to watrank.com for visibility.
If you had a poor experience with a company, you can message the mod team with details and it can be added to the blacklist candidates below. If it's already a candidate, it may be added to the blacklist depending on the severity/consistency of complaints. On the contrary, if you had a good experience with something on the candidates/blacklist, please message the mod team and it may be removed. Candidates will be removed if no more reports are received after a couple terms. Even if something is on the blacklist already if you've had a bad experience let the mod team know, as more reports increase confidence that it is problematic!
Candidates:
Note that reports from submitters with no previous account activity may not be accepted to aid legitimacy.

My least favourite sound is the sound of first years walking into a quiet study space only to loudly complain with their fake friends from orientation who they barely know about how they can't study and they have so much work to do.
"Oh my goddd I haven't gotten any work done this week im so stresseddd"
Like yeah I can tell
First I thought it's just the DC larpers, then the same in DP, but not even floor four MC empty lecture halls are safe. I walk in to study and half an hour later a group of three 1As come in talking abt how they "don't have any time to study" and yet SOMEHOW they DO have an hour to complain abt their work.
Every word they say feels like one percent off my next quiz because I can't even understand a basic concept while they talk.
As the three other people actually trying to study slowly trickle out of the room, I wonder if I should follow suit. No matter how much I stay to stand my ground, I am inevitably worn down, and, thus, decide to leave along with them.
But seriously tho why do they do this. If u have the time to rant and disturb others u have the time to study.

Hey uwaterloo,
I am a 2a amath student, recently got a FT job offer paying around 120k cad after completing my internship there. The job is roughly in the industry im targeting. Obviously, I’m far off from graduating. Was thinking of dropping to an easier major like the general math 3-year option or math studies and completing the rest of my degree part time while working FT. Has anyone else done this? Any issues I might run into with the school? Is it worth getting a shittier degree for more early work experience + no student debt?
side note - not a huge amount of opportunity for growth at this company. Id be able to get to the 150-200k level but that’s really where it tops out except for managerial positions.

I am posting this because I think people genuinely don't know. There is a sign by the door, but it's only from the inside of the room and people don't see it when entering.
Also, the tables and chairs are arranged towards each other which makes it seem like group study.
IT'S NOT.
You are not even supposed to whisper.
People say that when people come in and talk loudly, you should confront them.
Fine. But then 3 more groups come in and do the same thing within an hour, and then I'm not reading, I'm nagging.
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD.
PS. People also play instruments/do talks in the room next door, and you can hear all of it in the reading room. Not much I can do about that

Urgent help needed in rehoming/fostering a cat
Due to unforeseen Visa conditions I need to leave Canada in the next 5 days and have to leave my cat behind.
I am unable to know what the exact return date would be - but I should be back here by December mid week or early January.
I am seeking a temporary foster at this time for my cat- someone who can take his possession and take care of him while I am gone.
If interested please message me as it would help me out a lot.
I will share more details in DM

As UW students, we can vote in the Waterloo municipal election, voting is super important !
Today, we can vote at SLC (or other locations) between 10am and 8pm (if you're in line at 8pm you can still vote)

I think I just screwed up my MATH 147 midterm pretty badly, and now I'm seriously considering dropping to 137.
The thing is, I actually enjoy 147. I like doing proofs and learning the material at a deeper level.
I'm aiming for at least an 80 in the course, and I'm honestly worried that staying in 147 might f**k my GPA.
I know advanced courses have a reputation for generous curves, but what if there isn't much of a curve this year? I really don't want to gamble my entire grade on that.
So I'm torn. Should I stay in 147 and take the risk, or drop to 137 and play it safe?
Would especially appreciate advice from people who struggled with 147 but ended up doing fine, or people who dropped to 137 and didn't regret it.

Hi everyone,
I am facing severe mental difficulties right now and would like to drop my course load to spare time for treatment. I just visited campus wellness and was prescribed medicine. Has anyone successfully dropped their course after the deadline without it appearing on their transcript? Did you get a refund on the course?
Thanks

I’m a third year comp sci and I’ve never gone to Phils or Rare, never gone on a late night run with friends, never gotten drunk or wasted over a weekend, never goofed off at like 1am, never played pickup even though I love football ⚽️…I’m not depressed or anything, I’m not socially inept either, I can talk to people, make jokes, laugh but it doesn’t go passed surface level stuff… I stay in my room, talk to my high school buddies who live in the states and Manitoba, play FIFA, watch football (soccer)… I feel like I should put myself out there, do more side quests, meet people, stop being so scared… but then I think about school, landing internships, my fitness and find myself watching my favorite shows or doomscrolling till 3am

Is anyone else having issues signing in to their uwaterloo account (for learn, outlook, outline.uwaterloo.ca, anything else that uses the university's SSO)?
I am signing in with my WatIAM@uwaterloo.ca, and the same password I always use. I use a password manager, so I know I am not typing anything in wrong.
