LOST BRAZILIAN PASSPORT

I lost my Brazilian passport sometime between September 18 and September 25 in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, including DFW Airport and possibly Tyler, TX.

The passport contains my U.S. work visa and other important immigration documents.

If you found it or have any information, please contact me at:

A generous reward is being offered for its return.

Name on passport:

RODOLFO VIEIRA DE OLIVEIRA

Does Texas have more functionally illiterate people?

I should add impulsive to the title as well.

It seems to be my experience living in Central Texas. Ranging from obnoxious "me first" drivers with their pick up trucks and Dodge Chargers making the road hazardous. People not knowing basic etiquette when getting on/off the elevator (granted this is more Gen Z)

I've even dealt with BASIC stuff at restaurants & food trucks where people don't know how to work their POS system, having to constantly repeat my order, even having trouble giving me the right change when using cash.

Part of me gets frustrated because these daily frictions I've encountered quite frequently on a weekly basis going outside the city and it makes me just not want to be near these idiots, but it also saddens me society is declining in this way and feel like we should fix it.

I can give more examples of what I deal with and being from the South, I don't necessarily subscribe to it being "slow", but Texas isn't the South either! Some of the idiocy I've dealt with is totally perplexing.

What's it like living in El paso texas?

My husband is dead set on moving to El paso texas, however im not. Ive lived in NY my whole life, and theres a lot of things im concerned about in Texas (spiders, scorpions, snakes, wild animals, safety, weather) but im especially concerned for my saint bernard, im scared he wont be able to tolerate the heat. Id like to hear people's experiences and opinions before I agree on this move. I also want to know if our dog will be okay.

How many voters do you think will split Talarico and Abbott, and how many will vote straight blue?

How likely is it that Paxton "wins" by magically finding enough votes at the last second?

Do you have any bad experiences with tourists from Mexico?

I am Mexican-American, and some of you may be a bit out of the loop, but there are a type of Mexican tourists (from Monterrey) that come shopping to the Valley and San Antonio and have their heads up their ass and are really obnoxious. They're notorious here and nobody likes them.

Some of the stuff they say/do:

  1. They think they support the Texan economy just because they go retail shopping (Ross, Target, Marshalls, etc)
  2. They treat people in service industry like utter trash. Throwing clothes at them, being entitled to discounts, yelling at people. "I make a mess so you can clean it. I give you a job."
  3. They make jokes that people in the Valley area are all servers and cleaners that are there to serve to them. If we behave, they'll leave a tip. Everyone works in retail or the service industry. "McAllen doesn't have anything else" (sorry nurses, lawyers, engineers).
  4. Because of them, they keep Texan jobs afloat and we should be thankful.
  5. You make good money and are better off? Lies, you're an illegal and work as a gardener!
  6. "Monterrey is a world class city with better and more exclusive shops" (then why not shop there?), and they go to McAllen "to feed the people" since the Valley is just a tiny farm compared to Monterrey.

People from Monterrey are the equivalent of the stereotypical racist Karen being mean to Mexicans. They even have a nightclub in Monterrey (went viral) where they let people in based on their skin color.

Adopt a highway sponsor from 1996 - a pizza slice with a gun?

I’ve researched this and tried asking AI models but haven’t gotten a clear answer. In 1996 we took a road trip from Albuquerque to Orlando, and throughout some part of the I-10 there was a “don’t mess with Texas” highway sign (I think it was the adopt a highway program) where there was a pizza slice with arms, carrying a revolver type of gun. Kind of like a gunslinger pizza slice.

Anyone that grew up in the area remember this? Is there a business name or known logo that comes to mind?

Thank you fellow Texans!!

Voting by mail issues

Hey yall, I mailed by ballot in October 7 and I just called the Collin County voting clerk and they haven’t received my ballot…. Has anyone been experiencing this with your mail in ballot? For context I’m a Active Duty Member reason why I’m voting by mail. I’ve voted by mail multiple times and I can’t help but think my ballot has been lost….

Did anyone else receive a fake trans rights flyer?

Fake flyers from a nonexistent trans rights group is showing up in voters’ mailboxes, fueling right-wing hysteria.

Right-wing groups have sent this out to people as early voting early begins, targeting conservatives to think this is a real trans rights organization that encourages emancipation from your parents.

Vikki Goodwin’s Lt. Governor race is SO CRUCIAL. Do Texans know that this role has more power over lawmaking than the Governor?

Just curious, because I still haven’t hear many people giving this race the importance it deserves! Vikki Goodwin has so many good policy ideas like her plan for THC regulation and healthcare!

Do you all know about her priorities, the role of Lt. Governor, and what this race means for Texas?

Texas (local's) travel tips

As the title says, I'm looking for local's travel tips & hidden gems of Texas - mainly in the San Antonio/Austin/Houston areas.

I've been around many years ago but now planning a trip for next spring around feb-april. Ideally, some more western stuff like rodeo (keeping currently an eye on the rodeo artist lineup, as I'd like to see some country singers) but also any horse ranches, honkey tonks etc stuff. So no partying at the 6th street, been there and done that already ;)

Any tips or recommendations are welcome!

Voting ID

After moving back to Houston, I updated my DL and registered.to vote. I have my voter registration card, but misplaced my DL with my current Houston residence. I had it last week because I had to use it to enter a building. I have traced my steps and called the last places I visited and have not been able to find it. I do however have a DL from when I lived in Austin that is not expired. I also have my birth certificate, utility bills, mortgage statement and a letter for TEC. Is that enough information to cast a ballot ?

Does anyone else find the talarico and ken paxton ads hilarious when you compare them?

The ads are very funny when you compare the severity of them. Talaricos ads are about paxton giving a sex offender a 30 day jail plea deal and not having to register on the sex offender list or how he has been investigated multiple times for fraud and has been impeached and how he is backed by billionaires like elon musk and will most likely do the bidding of them. Ken paxton ads are like " Talerico is weird very wierd". He calls talerico a communist which is completly false if you know what communism means and what his policys are. He also says talerico wants boys in womens sports which talerico said he didnt want and he is also saying talerico wants kids to have gender reassignment surgery which is also something talerico is against. Another one is that he only wants to use clean energy and no more gas which is also false.
