Spite Foods
So the story goes that the Spanish got so heavy on eating pork to show that they were good Catholics and no longer following the Islamic faith after the moors were expelled from Spain. And can I just say, they do pork SOOOOO well!
The American's started drinking coffee allegedly because they were fed up with the East Indian Tea company's tax increase on their tea just prior to the Revolutionary War. And coffee is also well done.
Can anyone else think of examples they know where a food or drink that was done well seems related to some form of spite or setting apart that is also done well. I'm looking to try all the other spite foods I can!
