Discussion/আলোচনা She was 14. He is 34.

She was married off, because her family was struggling with poverty while the man works in UAE, with an attractive salary and willingness to accept the ‘transfer of burden’.

She died 34 days after her wedding, due to excessive genital bleeding. The bleeding started on her wedding night, and she had promptly informed her in laws. Far from ensuring the urgent medical treatment she needed, the man continued to have intercourse with her, while the in laws took her to the ‘kobiraj’ (village doctor). When her condition got worse, they finally took her to a hospital, but by then it was too late.

The family of the girl have filed a complaint with the local police station against the in laws, although in selling off their meritorious, 8th grader daughter to a man 20 years older than her to reduce expenses, they themselves have committed an offence under our child marriage law. It didn’t matter she was the second best student in her class. It didn’t matter that she could one day have been their ticket out of poverty.

While it should be clear to anyone that this girl died after constantly being raped by her ‘husband’, the sad thing is our law would not consider this man’s actions to be rape, as marital rape of wives above the age of 13 is excluded from the offence of rape. The one offence that the man could be charged with is ‘contracting a child marriage’ the maximum punishment for which is 2 years imprisonment and can also just be an order of fine.

Therefore, if any sex-crazed man wants to rape a girl every night of the week with total legal immunity, child marriage continues to be the perfect option - there is always plenty of unwanted daughters to choose from and no police station or court could file a rape case against him.

This is our law. This is our reality. Know it. Loathe it. Challenge it.

A Jamaat-backed female MP Nurunnisa Siddiqua recently asked in parliament:
"Are only girls citizens of this country? Are boys not citizens? If both have equal rights, then why is education not free for boys as well?"

The irony is that this question came from a reserved-seat MP. She accepts it without realising the difference between equality and equity. A parliament is supposed to debate policy with evidence and context. Questions about public spending are fair. Questions about effectiveness are fair. But any discussion about gender policy should start with an understanding of the difference between equality and equity.

Equality means giving everyone the same thing. Equity means recognizing that different groups face different barriers and designing policies to reduce those barriers. For Example: If one student starts from the top of a building and another starts from the bottom of a deep pit, giving both the same ladder isn't fairness. It only creates the appearance of fairness.

The rationale behind Bangladesh's female education stipend programs was never that girls are "better" or "more deserving" than boys. These policies were introduced to address specific problems: higher female dropout rates, child marriage, poverty, and social barriers that historically kept girls out of school.

Reserved seats themselves are a form of affirmative action. They exist because political parties, including her own, have historically failed to nominate enough women in general constituencies. Likewise, When girls receive scholarships, some see a special privilege. They don't see the social conditions that made those policies necessary in the first place.

Bangladesh still struggles with child marriage and gender-based educational disparities. Female education incentives were introduced as policy interventions to address those realities. Whether they should continue indefinitely is a legitimate policy debate. But dismissing them through a simplistic "where is equality?" argument ignores decades of research and development experience.

Discussion/আলোচনা killing people for blasephamy in 13th october

On October 13, 2026, a tragic incident unfolded in the Kuliya area of Debhata upazila, Satkhira, Bangladesh, resulting in the mob lynching of a 40 year old man named Wahiduzzaman Shamim over unverified blasphemy allegations. The incident began following a domestic dispute between Shamim, who reportedly suffered from long-term mental illness, and his wife. A video of this argument was shared online, which caught the attention of a local religious preacher named Fazlul Haque Amini. Amini subsequently broadcasted a Facebook Live video in which he accused Shamim of making derogatory remarks about Allah, Prophet Muhammad, and Islam over the past six months, openly calling on local residents to gather and protest.

Faced with escalating public outrage and a gathering crowd, Shamim attempted to harm himself. He survived the attempt and was rushed to the Sakhipur Health Complex for emergency medical treatment. However, the angry mob tracked him to the medical facility, breached the hospital security, and dragged him out to beat him severely. Although police intervened and managed to transfer him to the Satkhira Medical College Hospital for advanced care, Shamim succumbed to the severe injuries sustained during the assault and was declared dead. Local authorities have since launched an investigation into both the lynching and the online incitement, while noting that the original allegations of blasphemy against Shamim remained unverified.

Discussion/আলোচনা My father secretly finalized my marriage and tricked me into the ceremony. I froze, signed the papers, and now my life feels completely ruined.

Hi, I am 25M & I am an extreme introvert, and I feel like my entire life has just been destroyed by my own family.

Last year, I made it very clear to my parents that I didn't want to get married. I told them my plan was to move abroad and that I wouldn't even think about marriage for another 4 to 5 years. My father, unfortunately, is the kind of person who loves to show off and talk big to other people, even though he doesn’t do much actual work himself. Because of my introversion and his nature, we don’t really have a close or open relationship.

Recently, he found a match and pressured me to just "go and see her" at a restaurant. I kept saying no, but he insisted there was no harm in just looking. Our families met at the restaurant. I didn't like the girl at all. Afterward, my father didn't even bother to ask me if I liked her or what my opinion was.

The very next day, the girl's family came to our house. I was furious and threw a tantrum with my mom, reminding her that I want to go abroad and do not want to get married. Despite this, my parents kept pushing forward.

Two days later, my dad told me the girl's family invited us over to "see the girl." I thought this was my chance, I planned to talk to the girl privately and tell her to cancel it.

On the day we went, my grandfather's younger brother was there and casually asked me, "I heard you didn't want to get married and wanted to wait? Why are you getting married now?" I was confused. He then revealed the truth: my marriage had already been finalized 5 days ago (the day the girl's family visited our house). My dad had fixed everything behind my back and kept me completely in the dark.

I immediately went to my dad and told him to cancel it. He said it was "impossible" now, that it was a matter of honor, and lied to me again, saying we were only going there to fix the dates for the engagement and the Kabin.

I arrived at the girl's house thinking I could still talk to her and stop this. I was wrong. I was the only young guy there no friends with me to tell me or keep me company, just surrounded by men who were 45+. They isolated me in a corner. Without any discussion with me, they set a massive Kabin amount, an amount of money my father has never even seen in his life, yet he agreed to it.

I had no idea how weddings work. Suddenly, the Kazi was there. They put papers in front of me and just told me to sign. The Kazi didn't even properly ask for my consent. When it came time to say Qubool, I was in such deep shock. Everything happened so incredibly fast that my brain completely froze. I couldn't react. I couldn't speak up.

It was only after all of this was done that they finally let me speak to the girl. We have absolutely 0% compatibility. Our mentalities don't match at all. She is younger and is neither family-oriented nor career-oriented. To make things worse, her family is very wealthy with a big business, while my family has nothing.

I wanted to immediately file for divorce, but doing so can easily lead to the girl's family filing false abuse or dowry cases against the guy, which terrifies me.

I confronted my dad and told him what he did was incredibly wrong. He finally admitted it, saying, "I did it without understanding, I should have discussed it with you." But it's too late. I told my family straight up: I cannot accept this. I will not stay in this family, I will be leaving the country asap, and I will be cutting ties with them. I told them, "You deal with your new daughter in law, and if I can, I'll marry someone else abroad."

The hardest part is that I had a crush on someone. I wasn't financially stable yet, so I was waiting to get settled before confessing to her. Even if she rejected me, at least I would have tried. Now, that door is closed forever. My father destroyed my life, and I am completely lost on what to do next. How do I even survive this?

My father ignored my wishes, secretly finalized my marriage, and tricked me into going to the girl's house under false pretenses. As an extreme introvert, I froze under the pressure of older men and signed the papers. I have zero compatibility with the girl, fear false legal cases if I divorce, and feel completely betrayed and hopeless.

Everyone is saying to continue the new life but i can't and no one can, nobody can feel my pain and mental pressure.

Discussion/আলোচনা Why some Bangladesh support Argentina, do Bangladesh know how they view people of dark skin color?

That is of course mass generalization and there is really good Argentinians that are really nice, but the occasions where this has happened, are way too many times to simply pretend this doesn't exist. Knowing Bangladesh has a lot of people of dark skin color I wonder are they unaware?

Discussion/আলোচনা Hindustani media at it again

This post is straight up LIES. It's not even like exaggerated claims or anything, it's blatant lies.

Indian right wing makes every Hindu death a communal matter. It's bread and butter for them. Seriously? How is the religion relevant in this? 13 million Hindus live in a country of 170 mil. Of course there will be murders between people or sadly family kilings. Yes, some communal tensions are there but most hindus aren't killed for their religion!

Not only that, news reports show that the accused PERPETRATORS Mugdho and Siddhartha were both Hindu. That already doesn't make any sense. The poster claims Islamists did it and the girl was Raped, burned, acid etc. and also about the fake 12 year old son or "him getting circumcised". There's no claims of all of these happening. None. Killers haven't got any links to any of these.

The Right wing Hindutva IT cell of India is at its max capacity to fracture relationships and try to cause Hindus to rebel against other religions by spreading misinformation. He then blames the leftists for whatever reason and almost Every sentence has the word Hindu in it.

Please, report these types of posts, always verify sources and DON'T engage with them if possible

I've seen a lot of people hating on him for being against divided Bengal. Although to me, it was for a good cause. He didn't want muslim and hindu bengalis separated, he wanted them together in 1 Bengal. They also say that he was against the creation of Dhaka University but that's a myth with no evidence (see 2nd image). What are your thoughts on this?

Discussion/আলোচনা Rise of niqab

I visited Bangladesh before COVID (2018) and now and it feels like there's been a huge uptick in niqab. I understand there are some hanafis who seem niqab to be obligatory but does anyone know what the cause of this is? I don't remember anybody wearing niqab before, let alone this many.

Is it coming from social media or are imams in masajid preaching this in a coordinated manner? Or was it still fairly mainstream back in 2018? Is it Saudi pushed or simply coming from.the deobandi madrasas?

I’ve lost attraction to my wife and I genuinely don’t know what to do

I’m a 28M, married, and it’s just me and my wife in our household. When we first got married, I was very attracted to her and this was never an issue. Over time, however, she has gained a significant amount of weight, and I’ve gradually lost physical attraction to her. The frustrating part is that she doesn’t seem to do anything about it. I’ve confronted her at least every 10 days or so and told her directly that she needs to start working out or at least walk 10k steps a day. She does the household chores, but outside of that she’s become very inactive and seems quite lazy about taking care of herself. Even doctors have advised her to lose weight.

Meanwhile, I’m the complete opposite. I work out 5 days a week and take my health and fitness seriously. I’m also a very sexual person, but because of how I feel about her now, our sex life has basically disappeared. I barely want to initiate anything anymore and sometimes I’d rather masturbate than have sex with my wife. I’ve even told her honestly that I no longer feel like coming close to her because I feel like she doesn’t listen to me or make any effort. I know that sounds harsh, and I probably could have communicated it better, but I also don’t want to lie about how I feel.

Now I’m genuinely at a breaking point. My testosterone is apparently at an all-time high and my sex drive is extremely strong, but I’m not getting the intimacy I want in my marriage. I’ve started thinking seriously about sleeping with someone else, and that honestly scares me because I don’t want to become a cheater. At the same time, I feel extremely frustrated and sexually/physically disconnected from my own wife.

So what the hell do I do here? Do I stop mentioning her weight entirely and accept that this is her choice? Do I tell her directly that my physical attraction to her has become a serious problem? Is there a completely different way I should be approaching this? I’m not looking for Reddit to tell me whether I’m “right” or whether she’s “fat enough” to justify losing attraction. I know attraction can’t simply be forced. I just want to know how I handle this without cheating, humiliating her, or completely destroying our marriage.

Edit : guys I love my wife and I've tried every possible way to tell her that her health is getting worse. This was my last resort to make her understand how bad the situation has become.

Discussion/আলোচনা do bangladeshi men think being 'bou pagol' is a bad thing?

i personally believe that the most masculine thing a man can do is openly showing his love for his wife and prioritizing wife over everyone but idk why some oshikkhito chesra men like to bring other men down for this??? like how is being obsessed with your spouse a weakness or insult and whats even embarrassing about it?

like who else are you supposed to simp for? your mom? sydney sweeny? mia khalifa?

ei shob disgusting purush ra ato insecure and give off such small dihh energy to me like their ego is probably bigger than their dihhs. they be shamelessly thirsting over adult content actresses online and goon to onlyfans models every night and when they finally see a man their age in a happy and secure relationship they cant take it anymore. oi betare degrade korar jonno 'bou pagol' 'performative male' aro koto ki tags lagay and mfs think they look and sound cool doin it😭

another group of oshikkhito men like to bring out their mommies into the equation. I've literally seen men commenting on other men's posts stuff like 'prithibi te ma chara keo apon na bhai'...shalara nijera cheka khaise mone hoy. maane how the fuck can a sane person even compare his wife to his mother. everyone's mother is the very precious to them but comparing her to your wife is DISGUSTING. so is women comparing their husbands to their fathers like that shit is weird and absurd asf bro wtf? like why dont u marry ur momma then bruh.

Discussion/আলোচনা Is it possible to publish a book about atheism in BD?

I am an atheist and want to write and publish a book about atheism and religious belief. It will not be meant for religious people; it will be for atheists like me or any open-minded people who want to understand atheism better.

My goal is not to make people read my book and convert them to atheism. Despite being an atheist, I understand why people believe in religion and what religion means to them. Whether I believe in it or not, I try to respect people's beliefs as much as possible.

Anyway, is it possible to publish a book like this in BD, or would any publisher dare to touch on a topic like this?
