Announcement IMPORTANT UPDATE

Due to recent increase in bot and karma farming accounts, we will henceforth be requiring users to have a verified email. This will not be visible to any other user or the mods, however it will be detected during posts and comments. Kindly do not mod mail us to approve posts if you don't wish to verify your email address.

This subreddit is community oriented and we are open to discussions that are honest, factual or seeking genuine help. What we don't appreciate is low effort posts, travel advice, prohibited services etc- detailed list is in the subreddit rules.

P.S- Mods are available only at their discretion to monitor the sub. However if any member finds a post/comment in violation of a rule, do report it as it helps us rather than expecting us to screen through everything (IMPOSSIBLE!).

"Where are the mods?" doesn't help when it is one reply comment in a 300 comment thread.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER! DEV BOREM KORUN...

Discussion we are burdening our children with hate and they will carry it the rest of their lives

I was thinking about this the other day. The government trying to erect Shivaji statues and trying to remove Portuguese influence from the state of goa. I get the urge to keep a legacy alive. I don't think our history books in schools teach our children history. they teach them what the adults think is good for them. Something that doesn't grow the hate in them. something that doesn't make someone a target after reading about history.

AskGoa Looking for a Brass Jewellery Maker in Panjim, Goa (:

Does anybody know of a brass jewellery shop or maker in Panjim, Goa (apart from Mogasuni)?

I’m looking to get some brass hoops for my 3 lobe piercings, preferably seamless hoops. I’ve been searching high and low, but I seem to be hitting a dead end🥲

If you know of any local jewellers, small businesses, or artisans who work with brass, please do point me in the right direction and DM me!

Any leads would be greatly appreciated✨🫶🏻

AskGoa For people living in Goa, what’s something you wish more visitors understood about the state?

I’ve visited North Goa a few times before, and I’m hoping to spend more time exploring Goa beyond the usual tourist spots.
One thing I’ve always been curious about is what everyday life in Goa is actually like for the people who live here year-round, especially outside the busy tourist areas.
For locals and long-term residents, what’s something about Goan culture, lifestyle, or everyday life that visitors often overlook or misunderstand?
I’d love to hear perspectives from people who grew up here or have lived here for years. I’m interested in understanding the place beyond its beaches and nightlife, and learning what makes Goa unique from a local perspective.

Tiling costs

I have about 210 sq m (2210 sq ft) of flooring that needs to be replaced at home. The new tiles cost about 1.65 lakhs and I am currently being quoted 8 lakhs in total (including cost of new tiles) to lay the new tiles over the existing ones by a contractor. Does this sound legit or can i get it done for cheaper?

AskGoa Vehicle transfer

I’m selling my scooter and need to transfer the registration to the buyer’s name.

Does the buyer also need to be present at the RTO for the transfer process, or can I complete the formalities myself?

Also, does anyone know if an agent can handle the entire transfer process? And is the Ponda RTO open on Saturdays?

Any information or personal experience would be appreciated. Thank you!

Looking for freelance work in Tech (unemployed for too long)

Hi Goenkers,

I recently moved to margao and I'm currently unemployed. I've been applying for jobs for a while now but haven't had much luck, so I'm trying to find freelance work and project-based opportunities to survive.

My background is in networking and system administration, and I'm comfortable with a wide range of technical work, including:

  • Setting up and fixing computers and laptops ( I have electronic lab)
  • Linux installation, troubleshooting, and training
  • General tech support and tech consulting
  • Setting up home and office networks (Wi-Fi, routers, networking issues)
  • Setting up servers, both on-premise and in the cloud
  • Creating personal cloud solutions to store photos, files, and backups instead of relying on Google Drive or iCloud
  • Helping migrate data from Google Drive, iCloud, and other platforms
  • Setting up and managing websites, portfolios, and small business websites
  • Setting up storage servers and file-sharing solutions for homes and businesses
  • Data recovery from damaged or corrupted drives
  • Setting up VPNs and secure remote access
  • Managing Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 for businesses
  • Ongoing IT support and maintenance for small businesses

If you're an individual, startup, small business owner, or know someone who might need help with any of the above, I'd be grateful for any leads.

I'm trying to get established in the city, so even referrals, recommendations, or introductions would help a lot.

Feel free to comment or send me a DM.

Thank you! 🙏

Discussion When will the government actually fix these issues

Thumbnail

As a resident, i generally try to avoid riding my scooter on this road if I can. There has been no maintenance on these grid drains for years.

These potholes are present for 500-600m stretch to the Miramar Circle, while making half of its lane unusable. (2/3)

Why not just ride on the drains?

As you can see with the other pictures (1/3 and 3/3), these are poorly maintained and are uneven. Due to this, a rider may feel sudden bumps that can throw them off balance.

Due to the uneven level, these steel grids actually stick OUTSIDE of the frame, which is a safety hazard. My cycle got completely punctured once.

It's not that it's some small village road, its in fucking panjim "smart city"

Now that scooters and cyclists need to ride in the inner lane, cars now will too be slowed down and start honking at us. Even worse if there's a B_U_S passing through that road, blocking everyone behind.

Share your thoughts and experiences. Much appreciated
