Seeking Support Why does Allah keep testing His servants?

Why does Allah keep testing His servants like the tests never come to an end and it’s just test upon test upon test?? Like how much can a person handle fr? Its like I keep being tested and everyone just says ”oh it’s a test from Allah” well I know but how much more do I have to be tested for ease to come? Like Allah sees my tears, sees how badly I want to harm myself and kms and He still keeps testing me. I cry in duaas and keep begging Allah to ease my life but He just makes it harder. It’s like He doesn’t hear me. Even when I do good in hopes of Him answering my duaas, nothing changes. Like why does He test us so much even when we beg and pray to Him to ease our hardships??

Question about Islam Making up missed prayers

I’m going to be praying tawbah in a bit, and one of my shortcomings were prayers.

Do I still have to make up for missed prayers of before or just go on with my days as normal (counting that I try my best not to miss prayers anymore)?

Seeking Support Is there really a purpose to this suffering

The last thing I wanna hear after enduring the worst test of the my life for 2 years and presumably the rest of my life is to hear that it’s a punishment. Everyone always seems to when some silver lining like “allah tests those he loves” and “allah is with the patient”. But that just doesn’t really feel like anything. This test has done nothing but make be doubt if this is all empty words, which supposedly is signs that it’s a punishment. What did I ever do to deserve this

General Discussion How true is it that most Muslims/Arabs don't "really" support Palestinians and look down on them because of Arafat from decades ago?

I am American and sympathetic to the Palestinian cause but, what I hear a lot of people (who are anti-Palestinian) bring up always is how none of the Muslim countries, "like" Palestinians because they're "trouble." The three events I see people bring up all over Reddit post-October 7th:

1.The conflict in Jordan (that there was a leftist organization who was against the monarchy and this caused a rift between Palestinians and Jordanians; but there were people on both sides). Usually people will then claim "Jordan kicked them (Palestinians) all out" even though every source will say how 50-60% of Jordan is Palestinian so it was just organizations that were sent into exile and King Hussein ended up recognizing the PLO eventually.

  1. The war in Lebanon is in my experience, blamed entirely on Palestinians when I see it discussed. They say Lebanon was Paris of the Middle East, "before they came." I find this overly simplistic because Lebanon was already unstable in the 1950s even before the PLO existed and the Druze and Christians had something like a rivalry going back to the 1880's that just can't be blamed on Palestinians, alone. I am curious to hear thoughts from people on it to me it seemed like Lebanon was always a mess.

  2. Arafat supported Iraq in the Gulf War. But, Kuwait in recent years start bringing Palestinian teachers and even saying how their education was at its best when they were recruiting from Palestine (people who like to bring up this episode never mention this though), and there are still Palestinians in the Gulf too like 500k in Saudi Arabia.

  3. Another one is that the Palestinians in Egypt are to blame for the Muslim Brotherhood, though I can't find evidence yet this but it was all over in worldnews. People in Reddit were saying that Palestinian refugees in Egypt founded the MB and stuff. Basically some people in Reddit are blaming Palestinians for every problem in Arab countries Lol

Finally there are people who say Israel tried to give Gaza to Egypt, or the West Bank to Jordan, but you guys refused it because of how much "trouble" they are (that's just quoting what ppl say in reddit, I am NOT agreeing with it). So basically they say we have no choice but to occupy Palestinians because "no one else wants to rule them" or accept them as refugees. This isn't compelling to me personally because even if they're saying we have no choice but military occupation, I don't see the justification for establishing settlements and sending civilians to live in the West Bank OR the settler violence against Palestinians somehow being justified.

And they make a big thing out of how Palestinians "cause issues everywhere they go" but they support policies that are displacing them which makes 0 sense to me. Like if you're worried about Palestinians emigrating, shouldn't you oppose the policy that is displacing them in the first place? Netanyahu wants to ethnically cleanse the Palestinians and the current US administration was supporting it.

My opinion is that, I think the PLO does deserve a lot of criticism, they hurt Palestinian relations with other Arab countries. I disagree with blaming all Palestinians for the PLO, especially when most of Gaza's population wasn't alive when any of these events happened and even back then most Palestinians were civilians. Like they were already all over the Arab world after 1948, and the conflicts people talk about all involved the PLO. There are also Palestinians in Chile, KSA, the UAE, Honduras, the US, there was no issue with them there (the people who keep making this argument is trying to say that Palestinians can't live peacefully anywhere). if Westerners are worried about Palestinians coming to their countries then we should be against what is causing them to flee in the first place.

Seeking Support Duties towards toxic parents

My female friend lives with her parents who are physically and mentally abusive.

We think they may have underlining, unresolved mental health conditions and the father is anti-Islamist as well.

She lives under the same roof but has completely estranged herself from them and only interacts with them as needed or when she’s at home.

Currently, she’s very guilt-stricken about abandoning her parents, even though she understands that the relationship is irreparable and will cost her peace if she tries to mend things.

Nonetheless, in this scenario, she wants to at least monetarily contribute to the household since the parents are old and she’s still living with them. But she knows it will open another can of worms coz they don’t pressurise her to contribute but also don’t skip an opportunity to insult her for still living and being dependent on them.

Is there any Islamic reference/scholar she can study and assess to understand what are an offspring’s duties in such a complicated and toxic scenario?

I recommended her to financially contribute since she’s earning and take up household chores despite resistance, but she’s scared of increase interactions with them since it’ll give them access to emotionally and physically violate her again. Right now, she works like a robot and only sleeps and showers at home.

What would be the best Islamic approach in this difficult and complex situation?

Knowledge Is Light!

Knowledge is a light that illuminates our minds and shows us the right path. It brings us peace and earns us respect. It strengthens the bonds of brotherhood among Muslims and bridges the distances between us.

Who among you thirsts for knowledge and how are you experiencing it?

Seeking Support I've fallen out of Islam and I want to return but I get hesitant

Years ago, I had OCD and I was an insane germaphobe. In islamic studies, I am taught to be pure and clean before my prayers. And I took that seriously.

I would spend hours, daily, trying to clean myself from any impurities. This might be tmi but I would wipe my privates about 5 times or more just to make sure I was clean. If I saw the slightest bit of colour, I would panic. And sometimes, the scary part is, there wouldn't even be any colour on the tissue paper and I saw just seeing things (which happened way more than I would've liked). I remember this one time I was washing my hands and I got fascinated by the way the soap felt, which started by obsession with washing my hands. Everyday and every time I felt necessary, I spent a good 2-5 minutes washing my hands with anti-bacterial soap. I also got obsessed with hand sanitiser and I could finish a bottle in two days. It got so bad that my hands changed colours and was extremely dry.

Alas, I managed to still feel impure. I was afraid to step on floors or sit on the sofa in case there was dirt. By dirt, I don't just mean urine and whatnot, it also included makeup. I would wash my face for about 1 hour just to make sure the cotton pad had no more makeup on it.

During that year, every day I would be stressed and anxious. I would be worried to pray because in my head I would think: "If I mess up and I didn't know, God wouldn't accept my prayer and my efforts will be wasted and I will end up in hell".

Ever since then, it has been hard for me to go back to Islam. I am ashamed to admit it. Honestly, I want to go back but my past habits catch up to me. Some weeks back, I tried focusing on my prayers again but all I could think of was "Am I reading the right thing? If I am reading the wrong one then my prayer's invalidated and I am going to hell."

I think a year after that, I got a bit weird. I started exploring different beliefs, specifically atheism and satanism. Okay, atheism was because I kept watching Sheldon but satanism was because I got really into heavy metal. But in the end, I can't deny it. Islam makes the most sense to me so I really really want to get back into it. Despite all the stress I got over my 'impurity', I had a glow or a shine to my face and also peace in my heart.

pls any advice 😭

I’ve been able to stay consistent with my dhikr over the past few months, alhamdulillah, after seeing so many posts about the benefits of dhikr, particularly istighfar and the du’as of the Prophets (peace be upon them).

I’d love to hear from you all: Which dhikr has had the biggest impact on your life, and why?

Seeking Support Looking for free online Islamic classes in Hindi/Urdu

Assalamu Alaikum! Does anyone know of any free online Islamic classes in Hindi or Urdu for beginners?

I'm looking for live classes with a teacher where I can learn about Islam from the basics, ask questions, and learn in a small group. I'm not looking for paid courses, degree programmes, or recorded lectures.

If you know of any such classes or qualified teachers, please share their details.

JazakAllahu Khairan! ❤️

Seeking Support Are both hard work and tawakkul needed simultaneously all the time for something to come true?

Over the past year I have been obsessively focused in doing everything humanly possible, thinking through every solution and overcoming every obstacle to achieve something and each time I am met with failure. I get anxious thinking about having to do this and it is starting to eat away at my sanity and will to live.

I had a breakthrough the other day that made me realise that I was taking the whole “tie your camel” thing too seriously and had little actual exercise of tawakkul even though I constantly told myself I did.

So my question is, now that I have realised this, can I just let go all of it to Allah? I’m on the brink of actually losing it if I continue to strive for this any longer but I’m scared that if I stop that part then it’ll just me being tawakkul and asking God for something but not working towards it anymore.

Can what I’ve done all this while count towards “tying my camel”, or doesnit have to be simultaneously both aspects for it to work?
