Any other diaspora girlies that don't know how to speak the language fully? Ever feel completely disconnected when visiting Libya?

I completely relate to this experience as someone that was raised abroad and had to adapt- despite knowing Arabic, I had to turn my existing words to those of the Libyan Dialect.

That's when I realised- most other languages, you can find easy lessons and tutoring. But Libyan Arabic is so uncommon and niche its difficult to find proper, high quality sessions.

كانوا يسألوا شن رايكم لو قامت ليبيا كدولة إسلامية كان تفاعل الشارع الليبي ياحبذا اصلا نحن مجتمع متدين وهكذادواليك.

يلي صار في 2013 ماصارش فجأة وحتى بعد انتهاء الدواعش وانتصار الشريعة وغيرهم ماطلعوش من البلاد هم استسلموا بس وتوعدوا بالعودة

الشي هذا يذكرني باخر رحلة من كابول لما قامت طالبان

أولا تم منع النساء من السفر بعدين تم منع الشباب بداعي انهم ممكن يقعوا في الفتن بعدين تم منع السفر بشكل كامل

وكانت تلك اخر رحلة من كابول لما الناس ركبت فوق الطيارة عشان تنجو

ممكن تقروا الموشح هذا وتحسوا انها مبالغة

I have lived in tripoli till 2009 and i am getting an opportunity to relocate back to tripoli again. I am not libyan though but Libya really feels like home to me. So despite all the negative news about libya, i still do want to take the opportunity.
Anyone who is wiling to answer my stupid questions that i have to understand what to expect if i do decide to come back

I have been trying to make libyan baryoosh at home, not croissants. Although they are also called croissants, baryoosh are soft and sweet unlike croissants which are crispy and flaky. I managed to get recipe of them but i still cant perfect them. Any guess where i am wrong?

Recipe:

**Baryoosh Recipe — 500g Flour (Makes ~11 pieces)**

**Dry Ingredients:**
- Maida — 500g
- Vital wheat gluten — 2 tsp
- Sugar — 10-12 tbsp
- Salt — 1 tsp
- Instant yeast — 2 tsp (critical: fresh packet only!)
- Nido milk powder — 3 tbsp
- Baking powder — 1 tsp

**Wet Ingredients:**
- Warm water — 16 tbsp
- Warm milk — 7 tbsp
- Oil — 5 tbsp
- Honey — 1.5 tbsp
- Vanilla extract — ½ tsp
- 2 eggs (dough) + 1 egg (egg wash)

**Lamination (margarine layers):**
- Soft margarine (Blue Band) — 3-4 tbsp
- Spread thin layer on rolled dough before folding and shaping

**Method:**
1. Mix wheat gluten into flour dry first
2. Add all dry ingredients, mix well
3. Add all wet ingredients, knead **10 min** until smooth and elastic
4. Cover, first rise **1.5-2 hours** in warm place (kitchen near stove)
5. Punch down, roll flat **4-5mm**
6. Spread thin margarine layer, fold dough, roll again
7. Cut triangles, roll wide-to-narrow into crescents
8. Second rise **40 min** near heat source
9. Egg wash generously
10. Bake **175°C, 18-22 min** (upper rack, not bottom!)
11. Last 3-4 min light top grill for color (watch carefully!)
12. **Cover with cloth IMMEDIATELY** after baking!

السلام عليكم انا من شباب الخليج العربي و أحب أسمع هالأغنية بسبب لحنها الجميل و قصتها الرائعة و كيف انها تحاكي اختلاف أهل البادية و الحاضرة بطريقة جميلة و حتى و ان كان فيها مبالغة.

ولكن للأسف لم أستطع فهم جميع كلمات الاغنية فقررت أبحث عنها في الانترنت فوجدت منتدى ليبي و شخص ناشر منشور يشرح فيه الكلمات الغير المفهومة في الاغنية, ولكن الغريب انه يشرح الكلمات الي انا فاهمها مثل "ننشد" و "مكنه" ولا يشرح الكلمات الي مو فاهمها.

أثر صاحب المنشور يشرح الاغنية لليبييين في الغرب او في المدن مثل طرابلس فما يحتاج يشرح الكلمات الي يعرفونها و يشرح كلمات البدو الي انا اعرفها بالفعل.

يعني تقريباً بصيغة اختزالية بأن لهجة بدو ليبيا خليط بين لهجة أهل الجزيرة العربية و بين لهجة المغرب العربي.

شيء عجيب انك ترى أشخاص أقرب بكونهم أبناء عمك يبعدون عنك الآف الأميال

أنا منتج موسيقى هيب هوب تركي. خلال بحثي عن عينات موسيقية (Samples) لاستخدامها في صناعة البيتات الخاصة بي، استمعت إلى موسيقى من جميع أنحاء العالم تقريبًا، واقتبست منها مقاطع موسيقية مختلفة. لكن من بين كل هذه المقاطع، كانت أكثر العينات التي أحببتها تلك القادمة من العالم العربي، وخاصة من ليبيا ومصر.
لقد وقعت في حب أغاني الفنان المحترم الذي يظهر في الصورة، وبالتحديد أغاني «ليش بتا مرسلك عني»، و«عندك دوا»، و«ذكرتك». أعجبتني هذه الأغاني بشكل لا يوصف، واستمعت إليها مرات لا تُحصى، حتى إنني تعلّقت بها وأصبحت قريبة جدًا من قلبي لدرجة أنني لم أعد أستطيع استخدامها أو التعديل عليها في أعمالي الموسيقية.

I’m interested in buying gold as a way to save money for the long term, but honestly I don’t know much about the gold market in Libya & I’d rather learn from people with actual experience before making any decisions.

I keep hearing about 24K, 21K and 18K gold, new gold, used gold and ذهب كسر.. but I’m still trying to understand the differences and what makes the most sense when buying gold mainly for saving rather than just wearing jewellery

I’d really appreciate it if anyone experienced in buying and selling gold in Libya could help me understand a few things:

- Which karat is best for saving money long-term? Is 24K, 21K or 18K the better option and WHY?

- New gold vs used gold vs ذهب كسر: What is the actual difference? Is used gold a better deal because you pay less for workmanship and what should I know before buying it?

- How does pricing work in Libya? What should I ask the jeweller about the price per gram, workmanship (المصنعية), and any additional charges?

- When is the best time to buy? With gold prices constantly changing, does it make more sense to buy now or wait a few months? How do you follow prices and decide when to buy?

- What should a complete beginner watch out for? How can I make sure the gold is genuine, the karat is correct and I’m not overpaying?

- How easy is it to sell gold later? Are some types easier to resell & how much difference is there between the buying and selling prices?

I’m not looking for a quick profit scheme or anything like that. I just want to understand the market properly and make informed decisions instead of walking into a gold shop without knowing what to ask.

If you have personal experience with this especially in the Libyan market I’d genuinely appreciate any advice/tips or mistakes you think beginners should avoid.
