At dahil start na ng review for January Cycle, I'd like to share my honest feedback and experience with 1010 (based pa 'to sa experiences ko with their previous instructors (Sir Harold, Sir Dai, Sir Hans) ily guys huhu the best kayo!! :")
Pros:
1) As someone with a short attention span, I really enjoyed Sir Harold's synch sessions. I can literally listen to him yap for 2 hrs straight without fidgeting because he really has a way to keep the discussions lively and engaging. Fave ko pa rin yung FC session niya wherein he used his Hironos to discuss all of the passages, and I KID YOU NOT GIRLLL HUHU IT WORKED!! (tanda ko pa rin yung story nung mga passages hanggang ngayon) IMY SIR PLS HUWAG MO KAMI GGHOST SA IG EME
2) HIGH YIELD FC!! No explanation needed. The feedback and testimonies sa NMAT FB group speak for themselves.
4) SOCSCI WAS A PERSONAL FAVE mainly because im a psych grad. But also, super galing lang din talaga ni Sir Hans. He has everything consolidated in a single docs/drive, and yung comprehensive handout niya covers all the topics that it can honestly stand on its own even if you don't attend the synch sessions. But attending pa rin adds so much value because he explains the topic in great detail!! + may nasisingit siyang topics na i think relevant in these trying times (eme oa)
4) QUANTI AND PHYSICS: Okay, I used to be the biggest physics hater. Quanti was bearable pa for me but physics? Girl goodbye. BUT ANG GALING NI SIR MAL AT ANG HABA NG PASENSYA NIYA, and it actually made a huge difference. I went from dreading physics to actually loving (medyo lang hehe) the subject. I also really appreciated how well thought out his discussion flow was. Iirc he started with Kinematics II first, so that late enrollees wouldn't struggle to catch up. Thank you, Sir Mal!
5) PA/IR/BIO: I used to dread these subtests as well pero super helpful lahat ng tips ni Sir Dai! He also made the Bio concepts easy to digest at sobrang comprehensive ng powerpoints niya. He’s also surprisingly fast at replying to questions even with his busy schedule (super appreciated, Doc!). +++ I love how he'd initiate a mini check-in before class to see how everyone was holding up. I think malaking factor din na he has taken the NMAT himself and is now in med school, so he understands the struggles and self-doubts na we were all going through. Thank you, Doc! Goodluck po sa med school :"))
Cons:
1) Their mock exams does not mirror the actual NMAT exam. Ang dami pang errors sa answer key lol. While I understand the intent might be to challenge the students pero hindi ba mock exams should ideally serve as an accurate benchmark for students to gauge their actual readiness and progress? Anyways, sa mga enrollees now, huwag niyo masyado damdamin scores niyo dyan/huwag niyo seryosohin nalang (binara bara ko nalang yan guys lol). I've seen so many enrollees get super disheartened because of the low scores they're getting from these mock exams to the point na they are actually considering na mag no show. Promise guys, sobrang layo ng mock exams na 'yan sa actual!!
2) Out of all the instructors, sa Chemistry lang yung sablay. I tried attending his synch sessions pero wala akong naintindihan at all. I don't understand the reliance on analogies that didn't quite land, making it hard to grasp the topics. IIRC, gumamit siya ng BINI, ubas, adobo, to explain chem concepts tapos napa "huh" ako kasi bakit? Pwede naman niya diretsuhin yung pag explain? Hello? Hindi po kami Grade 2. Luckily for me, I was enrolled din sa Bwitz, kaya I relied nalang doon for the chemistry lectures + youtube!
I mean who does that? Hindi ko gets bakit gustong gusto pahirapan yung students? Naalala ko pa rin when I took that exam, jusko ni isa sa mga tanong doon ay hindi naman na-discuss sa amin hay nako.
6) Wala masyadong practice tests. Although, you can request naman from the instructors, I still think having a proactive accumulation of practice sets would be very very helpful.
7) MEDYO FAST-PACED. Recorded naman yung lectures but I think con 'to if working/student/may internship ka because the daily schedule with 2-to-3-hour lectures (especially for heavy subtests like SocSci) can be overwhelming. Gentle reminder lang na the lectures stack up quickly, so if you dislike backlogs, this is something na you should consider also.
Overall: I would still recommend 1010 primarily because of its instructors. They explain concepts in great detail, provide all the necessary resources, and very responsive din sila whenever may questions ka, kaya hindi mahihirapan mga non-trad pre-med na makasabay. Reminder lang, these takeaways are based on my personal experience with their previous instructors, pero I think okay naman din yung mga bagong instructors now :")
