Found this rare unicorn at a gaming store in Boston and I bought it. I dusted it off and cleaned it. Just bought a couple of accessories and installed a dust protection mesh filter.

This is from a reviewer who has played the game on PS5 Pro, most likely will be the same on base PS5 without PSSR.

I was a release day CD player, and honestly while yeah the game had trouble areas, like large scale battles and dips when it rains, fog, ect, other then that it ran pretty well regardless of quality or performance mode. Quality mode, which was my preferred mode, was always generally really stable outside of being near water or rain, which would drop fps or so by maybe 1 or 2, but I'm one of the types that if given the choice I prefer a steady 30 rather then a jumpy 60 where framerates are constantly going from 60, to mid 50s ect, but even performance mode rarely dipped under the 50s.

I jumped back into it because I haven't played since they released "enhanced", which adds more depth to the story, so I started a new game. Immediately the opening area in quality mode was already constantly dipping. That entire battle sequence was at around 25 fps, which earlier, even after they added pssr2 in the quality mode, would still hold between 30 with an occasional dip.

The horse ride afterwards from the lake to the town was also choppy with dips, which again didn't happen before. The northern area outside hernand is also very dippy now, while the weird part is in the actual city itself with all the NPCs, which used to dip to like 29 28 fps in the past in the big crowd areas is now actually performing better and holding 30 lol. It's the outside foliage areas that are now the issue which weren't an issue before.

I posted a topic on the CD subreddit but trying to get an unbiased opinion there is hard. They are very defensive there in general over this game, telling me it's my console or I need to get a PC, only a few people chimed in with actual useful info. A few people actually think they made the game perform better on base consoles, but somehow fucked over the pro version in the process, so now the base consoles actually have a smoother running version then we do.

Any of you here that play or have played CD recently can chime in here? Is it possibly my console? Or did they just fuck up the game? My console runs other games just fine, i not had any crashes, overheat warnings, and I deep clean my pro every 6 months. Its almost 2 years old.

As the title states I’m receiving my ps5 pro tomorrow. I’ve never played on PlayStation before I’ve always been an Xbox guy.

What are some titles I must play? I’ve already got mw4, resident evil requiem, stellarblade, spiderman 2, god of war ragnarök, fc 27 and ghost of yotei. Anymore titles you guys recommend and I buy?

Visually the best one in the series imo.

I would like to suggest a few new features for your PlayStation 5 console. I have outlined my ideas point by point; feel free to choose whichever ones interest you most—ultimately, the decision is entirely yours:

-PlayStation 5:

1. Develop emulators for PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3 for the PlayStation 5;
2. Create software to enable support for PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3 game discs;
3. Implement keyboard and mouse support for PlayStation 5 games by emulating controller button inputs, in cases where developers have not provided native keyboard and mouse controls;
4. Add support for voice-to-text input using the built-in DualSense microphone or third-party microphones, and expand the dictation feature to support a wider range of languages;
5. Introduce a "PS Mod Store" on the PlayStation 5 system for installing mods and add-ons for licensed games (both disc-based and digital). Since anyone can create and install mods, the store will require strict moderation—utilizing algorithms, AI, and human oversight—to detect cheats, prohibited content, excessive hardware strain, and stability issues. Furthermore, mod creators will have the opportunity to earn money by selling their mods on the PS Mod Store at prices they set themselves; when a player purchases a mod, a portion of the proceeds will go to the mod creator, while the remainder will go to Sony as a commission. If a mod requires the use of copyrighted elements (such as characters, music, etc.) that belong to a game studio, the mod developer must provide proof of consent or a license from that studio. If the system’s algorithms detect copyrighted material, the mod will not be published; instead, the developer will receive a warning stating that they must obtain the necessary consent or license from the game studio. To prevent the algorithms from flagging such content, developers must submit the required consent or license—duly approved by the game studio—before the mod is uploaded to the processing servers for review and publication. This measure is necessary to protect Sony from potential legal action.

-DualSense:
1. Resolve analog stick looseness and drift issues;

1. Improve battery life.

-PlayStation VR2:

1. Develop an emulator that allows PlayStation VR1 games to be played on the PlayStation VR2.

-macOS:

1. Port the PlayStation®Accessories application to macOS.

PERFORMANCE NOTES

I tested Skybirds and Birds of Skyrim extensively, but had to remove them from my personal load order because activating either one caused a significant performance drop, from 60 FPS to around 40 FPS
The two mods are therefore optional and not recommended for my personal 60 FPS setup
Goblins and Durzogs and Wraiths are additional monster mods and were optional additions, not essential parts of the experience

GTA V, Mortal Kombat 11 and GT7

Lately my PS5 Pro has been intermittently ejecting the inserted disc on startup when the game is left active during rest mode.

On reinsert of the disc the game launches fine and keeps the saved game state.

Sometimes the disc doesn't get ejected on wake from rest mode but the PS5 Pro doesn't recognise the inserted game disc and doesn't resume the game state. It doesn't recognise the disc in this case until the disc is ejected and reinserted.

This is particularly frustrating when using remote play for a disc game as the PS5 totally ejected the disc on wake from rest mode today while I wasn't home using remote play.

I am going to try checking the disc drive attachment screw, the power connection and factory reset the PS5 Pro when I'm home so I'll report back if those fix it.

I have read it could be caused by those things being misaligned or it could also be some HDMI/CEC handshake issue which I have a few of with my Sony TA-AN1000 AV receiver, Philips Hue 8k sync box and Bravia 8 ii TV it is connected to via HDMI.

So I picked up a ps5 pro last week was very impressed with how well it was running, fast and everything I had to return it cause another one was coming in the mail. I'm playing the one I received in the mail today and The performance feels a lot more poor than the one I just had. I'm playing Residnent evil requem and it's just not performing the same as the last ps5 pro, graphics seem more stale, textures are popping slower. Any ideas?

Title pretty much says it all. Love seeing everyone getting a pro, but I’m curious why they are so hard to get lately? I’ve had mine for a while now, so I haven’t needed to search for one thankfully. But anyways, what’s the deal?

now that base ps5 is getting its own qssr like dlss/pssr,etc to boost frames and image quality how will pro compete with it?
