When I first got this tank there was an imperfection in the silicon. When I asked them about it, they said that it was a blemish that is a non-issue. And a year later it looks like this. Sent it to them and they said it’s fine again. We shall see…

You can see it in the center left amongst the algae. This is the 2nd or 3rd round of babies so far and I can't wait to see the colors develop. 😄

Coral ID Request

Hi all, I bought this coral from a guy on Marketplace who told me it was pulsing Xenia. I've had it for a few weeks now and haven't seen it pulse, even when I turn flow off during feeding, any idea what this could be?

I killed my clownfish

Maybe my corals too. I don’t know yet. I’m so sad. And I’m so confused. All I know for sure is I put the nail in their coffin.

My tank is 3 months old. It’s been going great. I just got back from a trip where I set up an auto feeder and had been keeping an eye on my clownfish over a Wyze camera. They looked happy and healthy, swimming in the current while I was gone.

Today I got home and something wasn’t right. They were hiding from the current in a way they never did before. As the day went on I vacuumed the sand bed and they got worse. They started gasping and lying on the sand bed, hyperventilating. I pulled them out thinking I had released some kind of gas pocket in the sand, dropping them into a bucket of saltwater I had ready for a water change.

In my panic I forgot this bucket had a 1.035 specify gravity from a water change before my trip, when I pre mixed extra salt in this bucket.

When my clowns needed me the most I killed them. They were dead within 60 seconds after that.

They had so much personality. They vibrated against each other and rode the current all day. They were so eager for feeding time. They had such a long, bright future and I killed them.

I don’t even know what caused the problem to begin with. My water parameters all tested ok and the problem began before I even vacuumed the sand bed. I’m at a loss. I don’t know whether my coral will make it. I’m so heartbroken.

[Pic] Tank mate suggestions/tank improvements

Post image

First time poster here. I’ve had this Fluval Flex 32.5 gallon for about 5 years. My tank water got too salty about a year ago and it killed a lot of my livestock when I brought the level down. Only the one clownfish pictured and some cleaners remain. My tank is really healthy now other than some Aiptasia that has grown on the rightmost rock.

What would be a good plan to introduce more fish back into the tank? Bonus if they help with Aiptasia. Other tips are appreciated to take my reef to the next level.

Thanks!

Closed Duncan

Looking for advice on a Duncan coral that isn’t looking too good.
All other corals in tank look good. My euphyllia look the best they ever have. No obvious reasons for downfall.
Parameters:
Alk-8.8
Mag-1350
Ca-430

1.0255 salinity

All my parameters have been steady for months. And this coral was grown from 2 heads to many.

Recently added an emerald crab who I have not seen bug this specific coral but he has been all over my Digitata. Not sure if it has been agitating it. Tailspot Blenny is the only other tank mate that I have seen chomp a coral.

For 1-2 days the Duncan was closed, now day 3 its neon green base is looking splotchy/ loosing color. If it was just closed i would be less concerned, however the loss of color raised a red flag.

Any idea what could be causing this?

Tank is about 16 months old now. Finally had everything dialed in, it's all on cruise control. Corals are all colorful and growing, parameters are rock steady.. nutrients are a tad low, but otherwise just fine. I don't even run anything in the media chambers except filter floss now.

Life was good for a few months. Then a little patch of GHA which I suspected might be Bryopsis. Then what I suspected to be Aiptasia, which I now think is Hydroids. Then bubble algae.

I dosed Flux RX, same container I had used about 6 months ago that knocked out my GHA in a week. Nothing, it didn't even flinch. Turf algae too

So, I am pulling out all the stops... Got a 2nd Emerald crab, got a tuxedo Urchin, even got a goddamn ugly Sea Hare. I haven't seen the Sea Hare since about 30 minutes after I put him in the tank, the Urchin hasn't moved a centimeter. The Emerald crab is running from the other emerald crab..

I have a good sized cleanup crew, they aren't making a dent in anything. I have 2 days left of Reef Flux to run a full 21 day cycle now.

From 10' away my tank looks perfect, it ain't. I have tried smothering the hydroids with glue and poxy, they just seem to multiply when I do. The GHA is growing in the absolute worst places, under a plating Monti, around my Acro..

I don't have many tools left to fight these bastards and I am finally considering hydrogen peroxide.. I am thinking of using a tiny foam brush and brushing the GHA with all the pumps off? Manual removal is impossible, it doesn't seem to really pull off the rocks, it's stuck in deep.

Twin spot goby update

Must be close to 2 years now my twin spot goby that everyone said would die is still thriving. Although it did have a fall out with its partner that ended up to that one dying, I think this was around a time I started feeding less so was more competition for food the dominant one got rid. Anyway it attacks all food that ends up in front of him. I just turn off my flow for a while during feeding so that food is on sand bed up to an hour a day sometimes I’ll have flow off. I also notice my mandarin come out and eat frozen during the times I have the flow off. I honestly would say this is a pretty easy fish to keep if you can turn your flow off and make sure the food is on the sand bed once daily.

'Cause my upgrade comes Tuesday!!!

Started this fluval in January, and it's taught me a lot! This is just after I was getting over dinos from using algaefix to help with bubble algae lol.

Anyways, the IM Nuvo100EXT is scheduled for delivery and I'm so excited after the long wait! Im mostly excited to be able to get more utilitarian fish, and better lighting.

Wish I could keep both tanks going, but I'm already pushing the line here with the wife lol.

Any tips to make the upgrade smooth, or experiences with the innovative marine 100ext would be appreciated!

Best starter coral?

• Upvotes

I’m looking to get my first ever coral for my 15 gallon nano cube that has 2 hermits, 2 snails, and will be getting a shrimp, goby, and clown. I’m looking for something easy to care for and also pretty good looking. Any suggestions or tips on raising it would be much appreciated!

[Pic] My Zoanthids seem to be traveling

Post image

Everything that’s I’ve researched says Zoanthids multiply but don’t travel. This one seems to do the opposite. In 5 months there are a few new polyps but they clearly are spreading out. Can anyone explain why?

This is my only Zoa that does this.
