West Ham Match Thread
Going to need to pull out all the stops today if both Downes and Larin are out injured. It’s the sort of game where you need all your best players, facing a team that’s going to be looking for automatic promotion.
Yander will need to be on his game, and we clearly need to get Mubama doing something.

Total Saints Podcast 399 – West Ham 2-3 Southampton! A Statement Win?
A very enjoyable one to record this week after that win at the London Stadium!
We're looking back at the 3-2 victory over West Ham, including that incredible start, James Bree's goal and Daniel Peretz putting in one of the best goalkeeping performances we've seen for a while.
Plenty of credit to go around, particularly for Dobbin stepping up in Larin's absence, Ward-Prowse on his return to West Ham and the defensive effort to see out the result. We also discuss whether this was a genuine statement win and what it means for our promotion hopes, with Saints now just three points off the top two.
We then turn our attention to QPR on Saturday, with a Rangers supporter joining us to preview the game, talk about their impressive form and give us an opposition perspective.
Plus, Alfie talks us through his interview with Johannes Spors, including the latest on Eckert's contract and whether we might see any business in January.
And next week we're celebrating 400 episodes with a special in-person recording in Southampton!

Watch: https://youtube.com/live/KCMaAeKMsvg
Interested to hear what everyone thinks. Was West Ham our best performance of the season so far, and are you starting to believe we could be genuine automatic promotion contenders?
As always, thanks for listening and watching!

OTD Quiz - Can you name the starting XI?: Southampton 6-3 Manchester United
Six days after a 5-0 drubbing at Newcastle, Manchester United go to The Dell, Saturday 26 October 1996, and lose 6-3. Graeme Souness's Southampton begin the afternoon 17th and Sir Alex Ferguson's visitors fifth, yet within 21 minutes United have lost Butt to injury and Keane to a second booking.
I’m pretty unsure on the formation so if anyone has feedback on that it would be welcome!

Bree wonder goal as Saints down Hammers 🔥 | West Ham 2-3 Southampton | E...
youtube.comWhat a game! Don't care how soaked I got on the walk back to the car.
Some great performances but felt we definitely rode our luck too.
Jander was great, though Dobbin showed some promise with his hold up play!

Listening abroad...
Does anyone have any tips for how to listen to the radio commentary abroad? ( Europe).
I thought I could try radio Solent with a VPN but it doesn't seem to be working. Anyone have any ideas? Many thanks?

Former Head Steward
galleryWe were clearing out my grandads house and came across these pics. Brian was the old head steward when saints were at the dell. He did one season at St Mary's but said there were too many stairs and retired.
One of his jobs was to take the MOTM around to the executive suites and boxes after the Sky interviews.

What two old Pony Saints shirts actually sell for, and what are we missing?
I've been tracking what retro Southampton shirts actually sell for on eBay (real sold prices, not asking prices). So far I've only got proper numbers on two:
- 1993-95 Pony Dimplex home: five sales, from £37 up to £115, usually around £95
- 1997-99 Pony Sanderson home: three sales, £80, £80 and £125
The Dimplex one seems to hold its value a bit better. Which old Saints shirts should I be looking out for next? Any away kits or keeper tops people rate?
