Hello, I love reading all your tips and tricks. I'm coming in need of help with this little beauty from Earthtones Girl (link below - at the first part of the video).

I am a longtime knitter, but this is the first try at colorwork. I thought that this little sock would be a good way to start learning. I still think it is, but having a time with it. I am also including my snowflake chart so you can see what I am talking about. What is the best way to go about changing colors and floats. There is a snowflake on each side of the sock leg. I am knitting this side of the round with 11 sts. white, 1 red, then 12 white. Then I am to do the same on the second side (Magic Loop, btw). What is the best way to get red going on the other side of the sock? My first try I was just going to have one ball white and one red. That didn't work. Too much floating. My next thing to try is to have a strand of red for each side. Is this correct?
Another thing is, for example: on rnd 4, I K10 white, 3 red and there I leave red and finish row with white. On rnd 5, red is all the way over to st. 5. Is that ok to float that far (and just catch it in the middle on the next rnd)? The sock isn't going to be worn so won't get caught, but I want the back to at least look decent. So far, I have restarted snowflake about 3x and end up with a mess Lol. Any advice would be very much appreciated. TIA
