I have been thinking about this cake for YEARS!
I used to go into people homes for work and a lot of very nice people would offer me food. If the house and kitchen looked clean enough I would usually accept.
This particular time I was offered a white cake with whipped topping, it had an orange flavor, and was possibly soaked/baked with an orange liquor/syrup. It was so light and delicious!
Problem is there was a language barrier. Based on their house decor and the sound of their language, im guessing they were eastern European of some sort. We got by with a lot of hand gestures and when I was finished with my job, they pointed to the table, gestured for me to sit and presented this cake to me. I tried to ask what it was called and they unfortunately were unable to understand.
Now I know I can Google "orange cream cake" and probably find some recipes, but I am looking for THIS RECIPE. Does ANYONE possibly know of a traditional Czech, Romanian, polish, or maybe even Ukranian cake that fits this description???
Im doing a friendsgiving in a few weeks and would love to find out where this comes from and share it with others (as well as the story behind it.)The cute elderly couple that invited me into their home and fed me live rent free in my mind because of this cake! I NEED TO KNOW!

okay so my dad keeps talking about these candies he used to get as a kid that came in these little metal tins, like the size of an altoids tin maybe? he says they were hard candies in different colors and they had this slightly sour coating, but he can't remember the brand or what they were actually called. does anyone recognize what i'm describing? i'm lowkey determined to find them lol

Posted a couple of days ago about my maple fudge that we found out it was maple butter ! He gave us some maple syrup and these hard sticks and said “use it for maple sugar” so I am once again asking the reddit culinary detectives, what are these maple sticks ? The are super hard, feels like almost a bone like weight made entirely of maple lol !
Let me know if you need more detail !!
Thank you in advance !!

My mom said she grew these in our backyard. It tastes slightly citrusy like a lime. It also leaves a bit of a starchy aftertaste like quenepas.

Hello, TOMF! So growing up, my mom's best friend was a Bosnian immigrant to the United States. She used to make this Bosnian dessert that we just called "yellow squares" or "[her name] squares". I never learned the Bosnian name, and I can't find any recipes for it by searching its attributes.
As our name for them implies, they are these squarish, layered bars. The layers alternate between cream (which is a yellow color) and a soft, sweet layer that is kind of like cake but less spongey. On top are crumbled nuts, I believe walnuts. The whole thing is nutty and vanilla-y. I remember my mom saying that she tried to make them once (and has since lost the recipe), and they're hard to make here in the United States because they use a special vanilla sugar (?) that is common in Eastern Europe but not so much over here.
Thank you all so much in advance!

I get these at a local farmers market and they don’t always have them so trying to see if I can recreate at home. They call them “vegan green olive rolls.” Wondering if someone can help me identify what the olives are mixed/seasoned with and how to try and make the rolls? It looks like they fold the rolls over and tuck the olives on the inside but can’t tell how this will work without making it soggy or uncooked inside. Thanks

i remember having these as a kid and they were lowkey addictive but i can't for the life of me figure out what they were called. they came in like a plastic tube, were super sour, and i think they might've been different colors? does anyone remember what these are because i've been thinking about them for weeks now.

When my parents and I would go on our weekend trip to the San Jose flea market we’d always get these clear containers that carried about 4-6 meaty brown pits that were covered in what I can only recall as like liquid Caramel or very sweet honey I loved them as a kid

picture early 2010s when teens all used to buy snacks (and other things) and hang out at the skate park
me and my friend were obsessed with this one sweet from Poundland (UK)... it was a little straw of creamy fruit substance. almost like a thick yoghurt consistency??
we have searched Google for years with all sorts and never had success so my final attempt is this reddit.
not sure if it was a UK brand or imported by Poundland. it was a big pack of small straws but we really can't remember much

I do in-home therapy for this little boy and his grand mother is always giving me snacks and food. I really like this one she gave me but I don’t know what it is. She only speaks Vietnamese and when I asked her, the translation said “Japanese cake”. I couldn’t read the packaging, I couldn’t get a picture of it either.

Hello, there's a bubblegum icecream I've been searching for for about 7 years. I always used to get it from a shop called p&gs in the UK but it closed down a while ago. It was the most amazing icecream and I haven't been able to find it anywhere since. I've searched online for it a few times, but I can't find the exact one. All I remember is that it was a very blue/cyan colour and it came in a round tub. The tub had a similar design to mackies icecream. Please let me know if you have any ideas of which brand it could've been 👍🏻👍🏻

Over 3-4 decades ago in Long Island, my favorite snack food was a brand of chocolate wafers. The wafers were so fine, and the chocolate was so rich. They were stacked in a rectangular package that you had to open with one of those thin red plastic strips. I got them from Waldbaum’s. All of a sudden they disappeared and I can’t find them anywhere on the internet. Packaging was maybe had some gold and red on it? Did they get discontinued? Anyone know what I’m talking about?

Hi all! In the late seventies, in the US, my dad used to bring home "English Beef Tea" concentrate, and I cannot remember the brand name. It came in small glass bottles, like A1 or Worcestershire sauce. It wasn't Bovril. I vaguely think it was Major Something's, or Colonel Somebody's, Beef Tea. I assumed it was a British import. What's it called, and so they still make it?

I was eating a bag of fried rice from Trader Joe’s and noticed this leafy thing in it that doesn’t appear to be a normal veggie. What is it?

Hello! Sorry for such a bad drawing lol
Please help me find this brand of dark chocolate. My uncle brought it from US a couple of years ago. It comes in a pack. Each bar is covered in plastic with the design I badly drew. Its like a mix pack of sea salt, wine, and some other flavors.
PLEASE HELP ME FIND IT IM CRAVING FOR IT THANKS ♡

I’m trying to identify cookies my family used to buy at Big Lots in California (although I’m sure they were in other states), during the early 2000s.
They were sold there for YEARS, and I haven’t been able to find anything like them since.
Here’s what I remember:
The cookies were round, slightly bumpy, and crunchy.
They were extremely dark, almost BLACK like Oreos, and chocolate throughout.
They contained pieces of walnuts or pecans mixed into the dough.
They were actual cookies, NOT wafers, sandwich cookies, or chocolate-chip cookies.
They came in a cardboard box with a completely plain silver metallic bag inside.
The cookies were loose inside the bag, not stacked or individually wrapped.
They were sold in the regular cookie aisle at Big Lots.
I’ve searched for years and would love to find the original brand or even a picture of the box.
Does anyone remember these?
