Hey everyone,
I'm a student and completely new here in Austria (living in Villach). Tonight I ordered McDonald's through Foodora, and I ended up with an incredibly frustrating situation.
My Foodora app interface is explicitly set to English, but the McDonald's menu items and customization options still displayed entirely in German. Because of the language barrier, I completely misunderstood the checkboxes. I thought I was selecting all the toppings, but I actually ended up selecting "all ohne" (without everything).
The restaurant literally delivered an empty burger box, along with just my fries and a coke.
I know that technically the kitchen just followed the receipt ticket, but this happened because the app failed to translate the menu into my chosen language interface. I tried contacting Foodora live support immediately, but they were completely unhelpful and refused a refund or goodwill voucher.
As a student, this money is a lot to me, and now I’m left out of pocket and without dinner.
Has anyone dealt with Foodora support refusing to help over an app translation/interface issue? Is there a better way to escalate this (like emailing a specific address), or should I just dispute the charge with my bank/PayPal?
Appreciate any advice from locals or fellow expats!
