Colt Colt 1911 Gold cup

Post image

I got this colt gold cup national match 1911 for my 21st birthday recently. It was found in a storage unit and was a seal of a pice. But somebody painted to hide the pitting. Should I leave the tan+black combo or restore it back to its original state?

Originally wanted a m45a1, but this will do.

Threw a x300 and was able to use my crucial concealment holster!
Will be buying the full black grips.

Looking for a 1911 Commander .45 and these are the two that currently have my interest. Anyone happen to have/had both that could help persuade me one way or the other?

I am looking for a holster for a Springfield Armory Operator with a Surefire X300U-A. I’m leaning toward Safariland but I’d rather find something that is a little more concealable.

New Operator or go full TRP?

Post image

I'm going to get my first single stack 1911 in .45

Everyone speaks highly of the Operator, and with deals like the picture shown, it makes it hard to argue with. Plus it has a rail and the optic, which I prefer.

I know how legendary the TRP is, and I want one so badly. I'm all about Buy Once, Cry Once, but once you get into the $2k range, it's just a small jump to a Les Baer or even a used Nighthawk.

I stay low to the ground with my collection because I like to shoot my pieces. This will be regularly trained on and shot, so it can be in the nightstand rotation.

Is the Operator a good enough starting point that I won't regret it, or should I jump in directly with the TRP?

Help Me Help purchasing first 1911

Can someone help point me in the right direction?

I was looking into buying a TRP from Springfield armory but was wondering what the difference is when it comes to something like a TRP vs potentially putting some more money into something like a Dan Wesson.

Is there really a big difference when it comes to brands and their price ranges?

I have a budget of $2000-$2500, if I’m purchasing a 1911 I want to buy into something I’m going to want to shoot and not upgrade from for a long time. Any help would be appreciated.

Help Me Quality leather holster options?

I know of Milt Sparks and Bitter Root, but they seem to be out of stock virtually every month so far.

What do you guys use for an AIWB holster for a 5" 1911? Leather? Kydex? I would prefer leather but I just can't seem to find any quality ones in stock (though I'm not knowledgeable on what other brands there are for leather holsters).

Help Me Looking for a shoulder holster

I am having the worst time trying to find something.

Have only full size 1911’s and looking for a leather shoulder holster. I prefer one to have the 2.5” shoulder straps and want the pistol to sit at either a 30 degree or 45 degree. Also must have a dual mag pouch on opposite side.

Don’t care about price. Would rather spend more for a quality piece that will last as opposed to something cheaper that I need to replace in a few years

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If it it’s going to a custom shop that’s fine I just don’t know who to go to.

Update. Ordered a few Andrew’s monarch rigs. Thanks for everyone’s help!

How come when talking high-end 1911's, people don't talk about Cabot? Are these mainly safe queens or BBQ guns?

1911 Failure to Eject

Post image

UPDATE: barrel link broke in half, see in comments

Picked up this goofy thing off gun broker on a whim, it’s phenomenally accurate, but after about 200 rounds it fails to eject on every round and the slide is very difficult to rack until the round is removed, easy to rack thereafter.

Side note, is this weird bill barrel comp conversion a normal thing or some old gunsmith hack? Looks like it’s a threaded 3” with a bull barrel/comp extension on it.

So far it’s been a good buy.

Only gun with irons that I enjoy shooting. Such a great gun! Still contemplating to get it cut for a red dot but I’m leaning towards no just to keep the OG aesthetic.

Tisas B45R carry for a steal

My sheriff office has their own version of classified that other employees can use. Officer from a different agency had this brand new never fired B45R asking 250. Couldn’t really believe it. I brought an extra hundred just in case it was a typo. Looks like he wasn’t interested in it. Win for me there’s always deals out there. Just keep looking.
