Why does Amazon allow drivers to take packages when they are visibly drunk/high?

Maybe it's worse at my station because I live in a rural area where lots of people are day-drunks, tweakers, or crackheads. Seems like any time I go to pick up a block, at least one driver is totally zonked out of his mind. I've tried mentioning it to the station manager, who agreed that the individual was clearly "on something," but he still let the driver go out on delivery like it was nothing!

I'm not asking for drug tests, I'm not even asking for amazon employees to get any kind of "field sobriety training," but when a driver is clearly so high/drunk that everyone knows it, maybe they should just get sent home without pay.

Edit: This post got flamed way more than I was expecting, I guess I'm just the only person who delivers flex while sober ¯_(ツ)_/¯

It Begins… Amazon Starts Closing ALL NYC WAREHOUSES

I think the democrats are doing nothing but making good points in New York. I think the video creator is a shill for a multi trillion dollar corporation. He cherry picks local news clips of DPS that supposedly have benefits but ignores the reality of the work conditions. Honestly I've never seen someone glaze Amazon so much in a single video. It's weird to me that he can find so many positive news clips too. Almost like Amazon is paying the local news to do these stories in response to the Mayor's bill.

How can I report sexual harassment?

On Tuesday, I had some random man who worked as someone who would direct traffic for the Flex drivers just walk up to me and give me a hug after apologizing for being hostile towards me. I've dealt with annoying and creepy men like this countles times and I am getting fed up with barely doing anything about it. I need to start taking action and having power.

There were times that the male workers would even stand around my car watching me and never asking to help me nor anything. I had to complain to get them to go away.

I saw anoher reddit post and the user said that multiple women have complained about the same thing. I wasn't surprised at all.

Fresh Completely Unsafe Station

Post image

This fresh station in my area is an absolute disaster all the time. As my main job I work in a safety sensitive environment so I just have an eye for safety issues, and this station is just a living, breathing fire code violation pretty much every time I pick up at it. Not pictured behind me in this photo is a narrow hallway before the exit door which is also just full of carts that nobody is in a rush to move out of the way. I’ve talked to station management about it multiple times and nothing has been done. Today when I talked to a station manager about it he was super rude and dismissive to me “oh so you need help getting your cart out… 😒” no I need you to have this area clear so it isn’t a constant fire code violation. After that encounter and after I brought my cart back he came walking out to me as I was headed to my car to demand which cart number I had as he was going to report me, what for idk… but him and his entire station have been now reported to the Fire Marshall so whatever ✌️

Overnight deliveries?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I got this email again, two weeks ago they sent one and I haven’t seen anything change, but I have not seen a difference in blocks they already offer. What time are these overnight blocks and early morning blocks supposed to start? And for which were house. Because my areas already had the 3:15am blocks, so I’m confused on what’s changing

Day 2: Tried Fresh deliveries, how often are tips?

It appears a drawback of Fresh vs sub-same day deliveries is the payment wasn’t instant after the block (no clue why they don’t pay out the base pay instantly if they want to allow for 24 hours for tip adjustments).

I finished a 2 hour block with enough time to have driven back to the station. Is that typical?

Google implies Fresh might automatically suggest $5 tips, so are tips frequent? If so, that could make $30+/hr seem the norm? (Chicago suburbs)

Still trying to figure out how schedule blocks. Do you typically do whatever you first want, and wait to schedule another until later? Or is it possible to do say 4:15-6:15 and have a 6:30-8:30 booked as well and normally you’d always make it back in time? Thank you

They accused me of missing package and asking me to pay restitution fee

Has anybody ever had this experience? Amazon just called me and said that i didnt return package. He said that package was inside the cart when i scanned and when i did my route. Now they want me to pay for the missing package, which gonna cost me around $450. What should i do?

Undelivered Package email

Post image
2 Upvotes

Had a block on Saturday- 4 hours 17 packages.

Delivered all with no issues then got this email today saying I didn’t try deliver all packages. I had no packages to return or a notice to do so. My thing is if you don’t deliver a package the app prompts you to do a return or it won’t let you schedule till you have.

I’ve scheduled and completed 4 blocks since then. So this email has to be a glitch right??

For the past 3 weeks I’ve been trying to get ahold of a human team to review my pings. Things similar to the video above happened to me several times and couldn’t pick up a route because of it. I’ve tried to appeal it but I constantly keep getting the same responses even after asking for a manual review. Could anyone help me with what I can and should do? How can I get a human team to review my appeal? How do I make an appeal? What should I say? I have a few videos where I tried to tap kiosk to sign in but kiosk wouldn’t work.

Early block on morning.

If I pick a 3-4am block. Can I load these packages to my car and sleep in the station until the sun comes out like around 7am and start delivery? Will this hurt my account and be late in my account? Since early blocks price are super good. Anyone doing this. Before?

Question How long should we keep screenshots as evidence?

Before & at the end of every route, I record a video of my itinerary. I also take photos and screenshots along the way if I think there's an issue that could lead to a ding. Amazon makes stuff up, so I try to proactively record evidence of all deliveries completed on time. My question is, how long should I keep this evidence? Is two weeks long enough, and then I can delete?

Vent

I'm sick of the time I spend (waste) scrolling, browsing, exchanging, hedging constantly within the offers and calendar tabs just to determine when, where, and how I decide to slowly kill my car. There really isnt a right answer for any of this.

It will never be enough money, because that's not what it's here for.

I got stuck in the mud and guess what? They were more concerned about the delivery of the package than about me stuck in the middle of nowhere at 4 a.m. They’re absolute shit.

Columbus Message for drivers in cold weather states.

I pray that we all make it out alive this winter. Some of us won’t. I’ve been doing this for 3 years now. If this is your first winter delivering, you’ll be seeing some of the most dangerous driving conditions you’ll ever see, especially when it’s dark and very cold early in the morning, on roads with black ice, and with no other options than delivering the packages given to you. Be safe. Remember, your life is more important than the little they pay us.

got blessed yesterday

Post image
49 Upvotes

Yesterday I had a 4 hour block scheduled for $102. I was already dreading this block because typically these blocks will either send me somewhere 30 minutes away with 40+ packages or somewhere an hour away with 20 packages. Typically I always and I mean ALWAYS get Santa Monica, which is about an 1 hr and 20 minutes away from the station with traffic. I was dreading it as I had spent all day cleaning but I needed the money for groceries. Finally god heard my prayers. Pulled up to the station and scanned my ID and got a cart instantly. When I walked over to pick it up, I saw only 6 packages. I thought there must be a catch. Nope, 20 minutes away from the station and my house. Finished in 1 hr and 20 minutes. I also noticed the packages were meant for a 3 hr block. I felt so blessed as this has never happened to me on a 4 hr route. I know it was only a one time thing since the station was pretty empty and out of carts. But thank you lord. Have any of you guys gotten a route like this since starting flex? First time in 6 months that this has happened.
