Hi!!! I'm very new to art commissions. I recently made a commission to someone I knew and was a bit surprised by the price, which was 300 usd (actually 355).
Still, I agreed, because I love her art and want to support her.
She initially asked for 350-400 but agreed on 300 if she removed some details of the art (doves and the flower). I gave her a very detailed description of what I wanted, which is why she knew what to remove. I told her I might be able to gather some more money for those details.
When she made the sketch (which I attached) she included the doves and flowers, but less so than what I had asked, so I just assumed she settled on not removing them but removing the amount of it in the art. She had also mentioned before hand that she might have time to add them without up-charging.
I sent her 153$ for this sketch, and added 3$ to cover a bit of the paypal fee.
Now, before sending me the final work, she asked for 50$ more for the details. It left a bit of a bad taste cause I thought she would include them but reduce their amount (cause I asked for a bouquet of flowers and a crowd of birds instead of what was in the sketch), but I might've just misunderstood. She agreed on an upcharge of 35$ instead of 50$. Now, shes asking for 10$ to cover the fee of the sketch. One of my friend told me the seller is supposed to pay the fee, but maybe its different in the art community.
So, overall, this is set to cost me 355$ for the art (153$ is already paid)
Im just wondering if everything is standard and if the price is normal. Im not going to cancel the art, im just curious since im planning on buying more art later on. Thank you for y'all's help!!
