Just a quick word of warning - this needs to be a subreddit that is clearly not for "I have these symptoms" posts

although I like a lot of the medical subreddits, even the bigger ones that clearly state that they are not for personal medical questions, get a lot of personal medical questions. With a name of 'askMedical' a lot of people may miss interpret the name. Good luck, I might post another comment to get the ball rolling but just be careful.

I appreciate everyone who had helped. My next question is my doctor prescribed tramadol 50mg for pain but, it’s next day and I haven’t noticed much pain reduction but my mood has been better. Should I ask for alternative for pain as the tramadol has given me side effects of a headache and being nauseous a bit. Is it too early to ask or should I just stop taking it?

I went to the pharmacy today and got some disinfectant ream because soap and water wasn‘t doing the trick.

First pic is before cream, second is a few hours after I put the cream on. That yellow stuff looks suspicious to me.

Hi everyone, I have persistent ear pain and sore throat for three months now. Ent did a scope and no abnormalities found. Was given rabeprazole twice a day to take but symptoms persist. I am convinced it's throat cancer. Should i be worried? TIA.

What is the largest dose of medication you have given a pt?+what’s done for a pt’s non-medical safety during/after an operation?

Im not looking for medical advice, just hoping to get some context/thoughts from medical professionals or people that have personal experience in the medical field (ex if you have a non medical job in a hospital, have been a patient for longer and frequent times or if you’re close to(and can ask) someone that works in the field)

Backstory:

I, 18F, recently had to have an ambulance take me into hospital due to acute appendicitis, and it turned out to be caused by chronic appendicitis (and here i was, going to gynecologist bc I thought it was period pain).
And with my luck this happened around midnight between a Friday and Saturday, so the surgeons were off for the weekend and I ended up having to wait two days for my surgery (still forever grateful and in debt to the nurse who came into my room with a sandwich and glass of apple juice when I woke up and got back to my room)

Question 1 (medication):

I was going through my digital journal a couple days ago, and I had to look up a few of the notes (which is fair enough, the notes are for my future medical providers). But one detail stuck out a bit more, and that was the dose of morphine that I was given by the ambulance medics, which was: 10mg/ml - 6ml. Which (correct me if I’m wrong) is a total of 60mg morphine….. I was about 170cm and maybe 65kg soaking wet…. No history of taking any over the counter pain meds, aka: I’m very opiod naive.
(Could have been 6mg/ml - 10ml, but im pretty sure it’s the same dose of medication either way)
That dose made my pain go from a 10 or 9 to a 5.
I was still completely conscious and alert, slightly low respiratory rate and bp (low Bp is normal for me)

So my question is: have you ever experienced a similar situation, but from the perspective of a medical provider, and do you think it’s possible that the wrong morphine dose managed to make its way into my final journal? Because from what I found online, 60mg is practically a lethal dose-

(Context for question 2)
For those of you that work in the operation room or work with patient care post op.
i know that there’s multiple people present during the surgery itself, and I 100% trust and felt safe around my surgeon and the other staff I met, but I think they forgot to mention that they would remove my underwear after I was put under, and I just want to make it clear that I do not believe that what I’m about to say happened to me, Its just a creepy horror story type of thought I got afterwards.
But the realisation that anything could have happened while I was unconscious, especially since i took multiple hours to wake up after the surgery, and I would never have any memory of it at all.

(Question 2)

But it made me wonder about what hospitals do in order to prevent anything unprofessional/unsavory happening to patients while they are unconscious from anasthesia after a surgery?

Possible nerve damage?

Hey, so before I start, let me just make it very clear, I’m a hypochondriac. I work at a tractor supply and multiple times a day I am moving 100lbs at a time if not more. So it could just be muscle exhaustion for all I know, and I’m freaking myself out, you know?

Now that, THAT, is out of the way..

2 years ago, on November 8th of 2024, I was in an ATV accident. It landed on top of me and into a ditch with me still beneath it. For reference, I am 5’ tall, and weight about 105-110lbs. It lacerated my liver, gave me a stomach ulcer, bruised my left kidney, broke my 11th and 12th left rib, concussed me via whiplash, and fractured/broke my L1,L2, and L3 vertebra. During the time in the hospital they also found out I had a cerebral fluid leak at the base of my skull that I was told was not lethal, probably from the past and not my crash as I don’t recall hitting my head at all during said crash, and I could basically just ignore it. It gives me constant headaches but I am without insurance so I can’t get it fixed. I am also left now without the left three fins attached and was told would adsorb into my body.

Well, two years later, I am now showing possible signs of nerve damage. I’ll be honest, because I had no insurance I did not go to physical therapy like I was suppose to. I could not afford it. Crazy.

Sometimes when I run my fingers over my old fracture sight, I get the sharpest, almost burning pain that just runs up my spine. Even now the area aches as I right this out, and feels like when I was healing from the fracture the first time. It’s hard for me to lay on my sides like it was the first time I tried after breaking my back. It’s horrible, I can’t even slouch for a long period of time like normal people because it just aches, hurts, and locks up.

Again, I could just be tripping myself out. I do it all the time with the stomach pain I feel because I was diagnosed with IBS. But this feels different from my usual back pain. I mean I can’t even touch it without it sending shocks of pain up my spine. I don’t know.

I know if I’m really concerned I should go to a doctor, only issue is I’m still insurance-less, and even with insurance I am poor. I’ve looked into the Medicaid/medicare stuff and always get denied. Texas doesn’t have many other options for people who are working part time, and my job won’t offer me full time for insurance. So I’m at a loss of what to do.

Thanks for kind of just reading my medical rant. Because that’s lowkey what this turned into. I appreciate any advice anyone could give me. I’m considering if I could possibly get a back brace and if that’d help?
