Looks like Jester King is seeking new ownership. That ain't great. Last few times I was out there they were only serving beer out of the former Stanley's and the inside taproom and outside bar were both closed. Looking around I saw a lot of cocktails and very little beer and folks were sitting watching TV in the pole barn. Didn't get the feeling they were in that great of shape and I guess I was right.

I know it’s not an Austin beer but it’s pretty good and it’s spooky season so decided to have this tonight. It’s an IPA with Blood Orange. Nice soft citrus flavor, super crushable!

I know it's not beer but I bet someone here knows. It was so good!

I inherited quite a few fancy beers recently, had to drainpour a bunch of Bourbon County, CBS, and other amazing beers. It was easily hundreds of dollars worth of really good beer that was spoiled.
This Jester King Synthesis Analagous is bottle conditioned, however, I am not sure if it has been cellared correctly. La Vie en Rose is one of my favorite beers, I do intend to crack it in a week or two. My question to you is: realistically, do you think there’s any way this bottle will be enjoyable?

(These are public records btw, nothing secret is being shared here. We have no further information on our end, please share if you know more.)

I'm really into the barrel aged stouts these days, so I'm looking for a store that has many stout options from other states.

Especially looking for stouts from Anchorage brewing, revolution brewing, or side project brewing.

(Bottles or cans to take out)

Thanks in advance for your recommendation!

My Dad just passed away a few months ago from ALS and I just got his beer journal spanning 20+ years. I haven’t personally brewed since 2021 and I always went to Austin Homebrew. Unfortunately, I saw they have permanently closed their storefront after being bought out. Are there any other local homebrew places I can go visit and get supplies to brew one of his old recipes?

Hey r/AustinBeer,

I'm helping organize the 9th Annual LoCo Trash Bash, a volunteer cleanup of the Lower Colorado River below Longhorn Dam. It's this Saturday, Oct 24, 7am–3pm. Paddlers and bank crews cover six water sections and three bank sites, and since 2018 we've pulled roughly 65+ tons of trash out of the river.

Everyone who helps is welcome at the after-party at Big Webberville Park, and that's where Austin's beer community has always been a big part of it.

We're looking for local sponsors. We'd also gladly take in-kind support for the after-party, like ice, cups, or food.

If you work at or own an Austin brewery, bar, bottle shop, or any local business that wants to back the river, please comment or DM me at al@allwaterguides.com. Details are at locotrashbash.com.

Thanks for reading. And if you'd rather just show up with gloves, volunteers are always welcome. 🍻

I'm visiting Austin soon and would appreciate some recommendations for quality food and locally made craft beer. I know the BBQ in Austin is famous and I am gonna need to try some, but I enjoy all cuisines, so all suggestions are welcome! I appreciate all beer styles, but I gravitate towards lagers and IPAs. Thanks for any suggestions!

I don't live in Austin anymore but look for the Oklahoma Suks beer every October, when I can find it.

I know back in the day it was just Austin Amber relabeled. Last time I had it (2024) it was a nice cream ale at 4.5%. Yesterday I was at HEB and saw it and grabbed a six pack. Looked online at their website to see what was up because I thought Independence as a whole had gone out of business and discover that, according to their website, now it's a Lager. Untapped calls it a Pilsner. Is it now just Native Texan relabelled?

I'm gonna buy and drink it either way because I'm a UT alum and enjoy the cans, but curious if anyone knows why they changed from the Cream Ale? There's a million lagers out there but not that many Cream Ales so I looked forward to that.

Tried a few westies so far and I’m wondering where all the good ones are.

Join us on TOMORROW for our annual Oktoberfiesta celebration at our Sprinkle Valley taproom (10300 Springdale Road). Festivities will kick off at 11am and be going until 8pm.

We'll have live music all day from plus special food offerings from Rocky's Grill, La Taquicardia Tacos, and Parish BBQ.

Favorites like Montecore and Black Thunder will be on tap, in addition to Primo Primos Festbier.

Come dressed up in your lederhosen and dirndl and be ready to party. See y'all tomorrow. Prost!

Rather light fresh hop season in Austin. I counted 7 beers from local brewers. Can still catch a few out there:

Brewtorium’s FH DIPA is still listed on their website.

Hold Out may still have FH Ripcord on tap and/or cans.

St Elmo Crosby is still listed on tap at both locations.

Pinthouse FH Mosaic Takedown (Burnet Rd) and DDH FH Green Battles (Ben White - also at Burnet Go To)

WhichCraft has two FH IPAs in cans from Gigantic Brewing out of Oregon. I was told they have kegs of them waiting to be tapped as well.

Hey guys,

I'm headed to Austin for F1 weekend and wanted to make beers back home to Dallas.

Who are the current best IPA and barrel aged stout producers down there? I haven't been to Austin in about 10 years so I'm sure there are some new gems down there. Probably wont have time to hit up any breweries so let me know the best bottle shops down there too.

Also, do you guys get baa baa there?

Thanks!

As the title says. I'm looking for who actually has a good selection of the larger format jester king beers around the cedar park/lakeline mall area. Specs/total wine seems to have swapped entirely to cans and HEBs will sometimes have some, but it's basically always noble king or wunderkind which are good but I'm wanting to branch out.

Anyone know where to go?

In Austin for work for a couple days, hit HEB and brought Electric Jellyfish and Yellow Rose back to the hotel (I have a rental car).

Underwhelmed by Electric Jellyfish... Enjoying Yellow Rose. I drink a lot of WeldWerks and Toppling Goliath hazies, and Sierra Nevada Torpedo and Bell's Two Hearted if that helps.

Update: Ended up with less time to get around town than I had hoped. Hit HEB on the way out of town and bought both PintHouse recs, Meanwhile Secret Beach and Jester King Sasha. I also bought a 2nd Yellow Rose and will try to ration them (which means they might last until Sunday).

Update 2: Really enjoyed all of the beers. Ended up having a few Electric Jellyfish on draft and it was much better. Lone Pint and Training Bines were my favorites. I will definitely stop by Pinthouse the next time I'm in Austin.

Haven’t been to this brewery in years, I forgot how awesome their hazies are. I had the Haze, Daze, and Shine. 🍻

I have no affiliation, I'm just sharing because I want people to show up and bring good beers :) no idea what to expect otherwise.

Hey all, Craft Beer Austin has partnered with a couple of upcoming festivals, and we wanted to share information on them and provide some coupons!

On October 17th, the San Antonio Beer festival will be back for its 21st year. They run a fairly large event, I went a few years ago and it was definitely worth the trip. Last year, they moved to a larger location right next to the Tower of the Americas. You can read more about the event here, and you can purchase tickets here. Enter code CRAFTBEERATX at checkout for $10 off!

The following weekend, on October 24th will be the third annual Howler Fest at Suds Monkey Brewing. There will be 15-20 breweries attending. Dripping Springs Beer Fest is on hold while construction is going on, so this is the biggest festival in the area for the year. Article link, ticket link, and you can use code CBA for $5 off. I haven't attended this one before, but seeing the growth this year, I'm planning to check it out.

Finally of course, the Texas Craft Brewers Festival is just over a month away on November 14th. I'm sure you already have your tickets, but in case you don't, the early bird discount ends October 17th. Here's our article, and we always publish a second one the week of the event with a beer analysis, so look forward to that!

Thanks for reading, apologies for the slightly promotional type of post, but hope you all enjoy the fests!

I have a friend who isn't drinking alcohol but likes to join if he can get a THC drink instead. What are our options?
