New Rule Posted - Fuck Cancer
Rule #9 has been posted as a further explanation regarding our automod, specifically around the phrase "fuck cancer". We review each of those as they come through and approve them as quickly as we can. It can be frustrating so we wanted to add some transparency to how things work to keep this place supportive. Cancer is horrible to many people, their friends, and families; and we are happy that the community at r/bald can provide some minor relief to those managing the awful disease. Fuck cancer.

Bald Picture Update #1
This is a follow-up to https://www.reddit.com/r/bald/s/6u41rbniKn
Riff Raff costume and hair status
Beard: Gone (temporarily, for makeup purposes).
Makeup: Attempt 2. Trust me that you don't want to see attempt 1. Definitely still needs work. I wasted a lot of time and powder correcting mistakes and I can't afford to spend that long every time I have to do this look (I have a lot of Halloween stuff coming up this week)
Costume: Attempt 1. Still missing black fingerless gloves and a couple other bits.
Hair: Shaving complete for now, looks pretty good. It will definitely fit the costume better once I've bleached it though. Bleach going on tomorrow morning.
Honestly, I'm surprised by how decent the skullet looks on me, even without the makeup. But I'm still going ahead with the plan.

After 6 months of dealing with alopecia with no improvement with treatment, I figured it was time
I started lurking this sub over the past few weeks and have seen nothing but positivity from you all that inspired me to accept and embrace shaving my head as it felt inevitable with the progression of my alopecia.
I couldn’t go down all the way to the scalp due to some folliculitis I’m dealing with but I feel a whole lighter physically and mentally. No more having to deal with seeing all my hair fall out, having to clean it up, and trying to hide the spots anymore. I should’ve done this a while ago!

Shaving my head was the best decision I ever made
Saw my bald spot on camera during a work meeting and shaved it the next day. I knew my whole life I would be bald one day but didn’t know how thin the top had gotten. Easily one of the best choices I’ve made and if you’re debating it. Take this as your sign to do it you’ll be surprised by how much you like it!

Bald Picture Shaved it down to the wood.
Shaved it down to the wood this past weekend. I think I’m happy with it but regardless I’m sure bald is better than balding, for me anyways.
First pic is this morning, the next 3 were right after, 5th - before and 6th was my best friend ChatGPT showing me what it might look like.
Now I just need to work on smiling more.
Edit:
I was so nervous about going out in public and to work. At the grocery store this weekend I saw some friends and they didn’t even say a word. At work someone said “I didn’t even notice you were balding” after I explained why I shaved it down.
Everyone has been very gracious and kind.

Bald Picture I did it yall, after months of denial......
It took guts ngl. Ive spent a long time scrolling this subreddit to see if im ready. I did it. Big thanks to this community for making me just do it 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Bald Picture After Lurking on this Sub, I Did It
Holding my niece a few months ago (they request no social media, which I completely agree with), rocking my severe combover (which I’d been doing for years), versus telling my sister (cosmetologist) to just cut it all off as of today.

Bald Picture Smooth and fresh.
Cleaned everything up with a razor last night. Everything feels smooth and refreshing, but can see that I need some more sun so everything in top matches the rest of my skin. Hoping for the best in the long run 🤞
Also decided to smile since I guess I needed to. ☺️

I’m free. If you’re on the fence, do it. If you can even see the fence in the distance, do it.

It is done
Long time lurker, did not seek the councils approval first. But thank you all for the motivation.

Bald Picture UPDATE! Did the thing.
5 months ago I asked the council for advice and yall told me it was time. Took me a while but finally took the first step. I know it’s not the full deal but this was big for me. Be nice

Hold the line, or ?
Long-time listener, first-time caller here
People around me say it's not time yet, but I think people are averse to change.
I figure I've given up too much ground already to be saved by a magic elixir.
Part of me says, "Let's just get this over with," and the other part says, "Savor what you have while you have it."
If it helps, I'll add a little context nugget. Married 20 years, divorced as of January.
Which means 2 things:
1) No wife to talk me out of deleting my hair.
2) I'll re-enter the dating pool in the near future (so there's that).
I overthink stuff like this, so...
I need input from people who understand but have no skin in the game. 🙂
Thanks in advance!

A picture is worth a thousand words
After having a child, I began seeing myself in a lot of candid photos with the little one, showing me angles not normally seen. Angles the bathroom mirror could not provide. Repeatedly seeing these types of pictures certainly shed some light on the situation, and helped make the initial decision. Now any time an old photo pops up it confirms the right decision was made. Of course, going too far back into the old albums can show what once was, and is now lost...
On another note, who else found out the hard way that they have a wrinkly head?

Before/After. Dig it?
Did I jump the gun? Im still working on a good shaving routine. I don’t have the boost in confidence that I hoped for after doing it but Im slowly getting used to this new reflection in the mirror and learning how to love my new look. Would like some pointers or encouragement if you got it. Thanks for the push guys.
Also, it wasn’t inflamation on my scalp, I saw people getting worried. I was just very sweaty after work and also nervous posting a photo of myself on the internet which I barely do. Thank you for the concern but Im fine.

Bald Picture Is it finally time?
I have been putting it off for years. Should I just go for it?
Hairloss Wondering if I should hold off, or shave it clean? I’m able to cover it decently up with my bangs. 35 male 😭
Bald Picture Definitely the right decision
Decided it was time about two months ago to just get rid of it all. It has definitely been the right decision and I’m enjoying the new look! I’m 45 and been balding slowly for the last 10 years. And one old photo for reference.

Bald Picture Your favorite electric shaver
After several weeks into my most recent and permanent adventure into baldness, I'm interested in feedback on your personal favorite electric shavers. My beard trimmers just don't do the trick and take a bit too long for the dome. Foil? Rotary? Laser cats? What do you use?
Pic of my updated work 'Teams' profile pic for tax!
