You may be surprised how many times this happens. They expect the bees to cooperate and hand over their honey without a lashing 😂

I’m a beekeeper, and I have a question Bees swarming lights

I went out around 6:30am to take my dog out and it was still really dark out, I hear something and there is a tons of bees flying around all of my lights and more just keep coming. My hives are around 35 yards away. I have never seen them come in so heavy like this when it’s dark out, they just kept flying in to all the lights. Is this weird or am I overthinking. I have had hives at the house for over 2 years and never witnessed this behavior. SWFL

I’m a beekeeper, and I have a question Dead wet bees on landing board

Hello all have a question and could be nothing. So I have a double deep nuc im going to overwinter this past Sunday I inspected and put in 4 total (2 per brood box) varroxsan strips in the hive. Then Monday morning I looked and saw dead bees like the photo on the landing board and they were wet. Also some dead varroa on the side and a little moisture buildup. I took out the entrance reducer to see if any bees were piled inside and non were and seem to still be active in the day and stuff as well. So I cleaned them out and tilted the hive a little more just in case. Then this morning same thing happened. I have 3 other hives that have 1-2 dead bees on them in the front but the landing/ bottom board isn’t as big. So just trying to see what’s going on if this is normal cleaning house behavior and morning moisture or what? I’m in athens Georgia.

il expérimente ici un dispositif de sa propre création repoussant les frelons, ça a l’air vraiment efficace, et mériterais d’être produit à grande échelle en complément d’autres pièges

les fils de bordure pourraient être transformés en « harpe électrique » …

I’m a beekeeper, and I have a question Question about robbing and comb in supers after honey extraction.

Hello everybody,

I'm a beekeeper in Hawai'i with 2 years of experience and 2 hives. I just extracted my fall honey harvest(2 supers) and decided to set the supers out for a day for the bees to clean instead of putting them on a hive to clean like I've done in the past. It's two days later and I came back and there were a lot of dead bees and a ton of chewed wax bits under the supers. I think it was just some bees fighting/robbing over the honey, but I just want to confirm that.

Thanks so much for the help!

General Relocated?

Had a swarm move into and open soffit on the second floor on my house around june/july. Haven’t had the time to go rent scaffolding and go up there to do the cut out. They have been very cordial neighbors, never bother us even being in a high traffic area above the garage door.

Anyway, noticed another swarm the other day moved into some bench seating on our back lanai. Not uncommon, there have been 2 other swarms I’ve cutout of the same bench over the last couple years. Figured it was another new crew. However, in the following days, the soffit hive has thinned significantly, wondering if maybe the finally figured out that they were too exposed and decided to relocate?

Pictures before, always thick with bees, could almost never see any exposed comb. And after, still bees coming and going but significantly less and the exposed comb looks pretty empty of brood/honey.

Location: HI

I’m a beekeeper, and I have a question Anyone beekeeping in the East African region?

Hey, I’ve been at beekeeping for the last two years, and information about our bee varieties is limited. I feel jealous watching people in Europe and America working with their bees, most without suits, I feel like if I do as much as blink near my bees I get swarmed. Anywho, got some questions about our bees…

1) can you over-smoke bees when using a smoker
2) thoughts on using plastic frame supports versus wax, pros vs cons
3) what does your harvest cycle look like, I tend to get somewhat of a harvest every 3-4 months
4) what do you guys do for honey badgers….

3rd year NJ. I was drying my double filter after extracting and noticed this rust stain on the towel. Should I be concerned? Should I buy a new filter/will this affect my honey now or in the future?
