Conor Garland 0 points in 17 games- help me understand why did we trade for this guy?

Post image

I’ll admit he’s looked more active and driving play the last couple of games… but woof.

Why doesn’t the media ask Don about this? Plenty of head scratching moves that he doesn’t have to answer any questions about.

Section 105 - Aussie named John vs Vegas

John, if you see this buddy, you might be wondering what happened to the new Blue Jackets hat you bought Sunday morning. After what I could count was your 6th or 7th Jamo and coke, you gave it to my daughter.

I’ve sat next to a lot of people at a lot of games. Thanks for making it a memorable one for us, I’ll always be able to remind my daughter of you and she’ll know exactly who I’m talking about. It was an overly priced hat to you, but is now a memory for my daughter. Thanks for being special. Hope your “mate” got you home safe! Go Jackets!

Discussion Snoopy Bobblehead from VGK game

So, I screwed up, my wife, who is a huge fan of the peanuts, came to the game with me on Saturday. I thought the bobble heads were the giveaway for the night only to find that you had to purchase them in advance or get them as part of a package…

She was pretty bummed out.

Unfortunately, as a season ticket holder, I didn’t realize that these were the only options and therefore I didn’t secure one. If anyone has an extra and is willing to sell it, please send me a direct message.

Thank you!

The Randomizer has spoken. Today’s selection is Kevin Stenlund.

A 2nd round pick by the Blue Jackets in 2015, Kevin Stenlund saw some meaningful games during the COVID seasons, including one goal in the 2020 playoffs. In the 2022 offseason he signed as a free agent with Winnipeg. Currently, he plays for the Utah Mammoth.

How I feel knowing last night wasn't a dream and we beat a good team.

Post image
117 Upvotes

PROS:

Fantilli scored.

We scored on the power play

Knies passes the eye test; a shame he wasn't on the score sheet.

KJ is him this year. Good lord, so excited for him.

Fantilli/Nichuskin line looks good.

Cam looked excellent.

Only ONE penalty.

CONS:

26 years of dump-and-chase hockey.

Carson Soucy, I am sure, is a nice guy, but I cannot wait for him to be replaced by Fabbro.

[Portzline] Adam Fantilli ends power-play slump, sends Blue Jackets to needed win over Golden Knights

Under any circumstance, it would have been a beautiful goal. But, given how badly the Columbus Blue Jackets needed a win — not to mention a power-play goal — the goal that ended Saturday’s game carried a certain amount of heft.

Adam Fantilli’s blistered one-timer from the right circle 59 seconds into overtime sent the Blue Jackets to a 2-1 win over the Vegas Golden Knights before 16,451 in Nationwide Arena.

The arena erupted when Fantilli scored his third goal of the season and the third overtime goal of his career, but amid the jubilation there was also a sense of relief.

The Blue Jackets needed this win after dropping four of their previous five games. And they needed a power-play goal after going — gulp! — 0-for-22 with the man-advantage since the season-opening win versus the Buffalo Sabres.

I think Connor Garland has beef with my 13 year old daughter

First before anyone comes for me in the comments, this is only like a quarter serious. My daughter and I are both aware that these players owe us nothing and have much more important things to think about before games. But...

I think Connor Garland may have beef with my child.

It started at the Maple Leafs game.My daughter made a sign asking Garland to trade a puck or stick for somw shark gummies, something I've been told are his favorite candy. Garland looked at my daughter several times but looked absolutely pissed each time. No big deal, a lot of the players look angry when they are on the ice. Outside of the looks, though, he ignored her. Also no big deal, because like I said, we know they ha e bigger things going on than fan interactions during warmup. Not every player is Charlie Coyle, who had already tossed over like 4 pucks at that point. We wrote the whole experience off as a "we'll get em next time".

Move forward to last night, we are in the Tunnel of Pride and my daughter is waiting against the barrier. The team comes out and everyone is giving out fist bumps and high fives, but when Garland got to my daughter, HE PUT HIS ARM DOWN. She has a video of him dapping the kid directly in front of her and then immediately moving his hand to his side. Now I will admit, we did not pay atrention to what he did with the person after her, but all in all, evidence is pointing to the fact that my kid may be in a feud with a professional hockey player.

I love a mystery, so I plan to have some fun getting to tbe bottom of this, but my working theory is that he has heard me yell "short king" a few times when he's gotten on the ice, but only noticed my daughter when he looked in the direction it came from (she has bright pink hair and kind of stands out among the usual hockey fan).

Awesome game was sorta ruined for me by poor arena etiquette

I took the girlfriend out for a date night tonight and we had nice time together. I splurged earlier this month on some nice seats behind the home bench in F17, F18 of section 103 for tonight's game against the Vegas Golden Knights. It was really awesome to be closer than we ever had to the action, I was nerding out a lil bit getting to see all the players up close and she got a very cute picture with Stinger.

I try to be very respectful of others when im at nationwide arena, I've been going semi regularly with either friends, my girlfriend or my nephew since I got a good job a few years back.

Tonight there were multiple times where people were seat hopping and sitting in one of our chairs. A little annoying that people do that but whatever folks just move and thats whatever.

People keep getting up to go to the concessions/bathroom in the middle of play and blocking our view. Uhm, I will hold my tongue but thats pretty annoying.

What pissed me off more than anything was missing the game winning goal in overtime because a couple decided to stand up in the middle of play and stay that way, even encouraging another person next to them to do so. I asked them to sit down and they just told me to stand up too. As soon as I open my mouth to say anything else the goal is scored and they turn to me all excited saying i can stand up now as im just sorta staring slack jawed in anger. Im not going to stand up and block the nice family of mostly new fans behind me. This really left my girlfriend and I feeling a certain type of way. This is common sense at a hockey game is it not?

We tried not to let it ruin our night and went out to our local bar after to celebrate the win but here I am venting online, has anyone else had similar experiences? Are these kinds of people more common in certain sections? Is it worth grabbing an usher? I didnt think so given it was literally the end of the game, just really sucked to get awesome seats and have rude people spoil the best part of the experience.

Still great to see the boys pull off a win that I wasnt sure they had in them. Go Jackets.

Wondering what people's thoughts are on the coaching staff introducing a second player of the game award.

One of the blades broke off after coming into contact with a parachute. Fell in the shoot twice zone and they took it over to the accessible section for repairs.

NWA Temperature this year??

Is it just me, or did NWA become 20° colder this year? Not ONLY do we get to sit through the most dreadful dump and chase game of all time AND the most questionable power plays during the MOST pivotal time of the game…. I also get to freeze while watching?

Does anyone else share this experience?

Also, give me more of that OT line during 5 on 5

Jet and Talbot

Just curious on everyone’s opinions, we know jet can be good. Do we think he’s in a weird slump right now? Obviously we’re missing our D core but the games jet has started has got out of hand, what’s the consensus here.
