Finished I crocheted a frog purse for every mood 🐸

These frogs are made from polyester cord. I sew a separate satin lining for each one, then hand-stitch the metal clasp in place with strong thread so everything stays secure and lasts. Handmade from the first stitch to the final detail 🐸
The clasp has rings for attaching a strap, so you can wear your frog over your shoulder and switch straps to match your outfit or mood. They’re surprisingly roomy, too: all my everyday essentials fit inside, with space to spare!
The shape is the same, but each colour seems to give them a different personality. Which one would you take everywhere?

Made with #3 thread and 2.25 mm hook. I was trying to use up yarn I had lying around but ran out and had to buy more. Oh well. It was a fun first doily pattern, and now I’m ready for Halloween.

Image descriptions: a crocheted round doily in off-white featuring six cute ghosts.

Discussion bros (in the gender neutral sense), where are we finding manly patterns? especially in video form

hey y’all, i am new to crochet and starting to collect youtube channels and whatnot with crochet tutorials and patterns. i’ve also poked around on ravelry (which i know has the option to filter by gender) and i have a couple books. as you may have guessed, i am a dude who doesn’t dress feminine (no problem with dudes who do, it’s just not for me!). i see a lot of videos and stuff with lists of beginner patterns but most of em are just not stuff i would use or wear because of the motifs or silhouette. i don’t yet know how to read patterns properly and i just find video tutorials a lot easier to follow. i’m finding that especially beginner friendly stuff seems to lean more feminine.

some stuff i can just change the colour scheme of but i am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for crochet youtube channels run by guys or otherwise masculine people?

Changing colors while crocheting not centered

Post image

I’ve been crocheting a couple months now. I typically use patterns online to make amigurumi, lately I’ve been doing more difficult ones for me and the color changes is what’s been the most difficult. Everytime i switch colors the whole look becomes slanted and I have to change the pattern to fit the colors I need to be centered like this. When I initially did the project the white made it look very slanted so I had to change when I switched colors, no one else had this problem on the reviews so I’m wondering if it could be a me problem and the way I crochet that’s affecting the way my colors look in a project?

Started out as a blanket for my then small toddler who is now a much larger child. I kind of hate it at this point, but I will finish it even if it kills me!! I have given up on extending the pooling part and am just going for a thick border and am going to call it good. I did the thing (planned pooling)!!

Amigurumi wording question: a fixed marker and a round-start marker

Bros,

Girl Dad needs some crochet instruction help!

My daughter really likes making little animals (amigurumi, as I have learned to call them). I really like making software (and I really, really like my daughter). So, nerd that I am, I’m making a crochet design tool to help her design her own creatures. She can create pieces, tube, cones, etc and drag and drop arrange them. Then my tool will (hopefully) spit out useful instructions to actually make them. I'm just starting to learn about crochet, and wow there has been a lot to try and learn! I'm not (yet?) really a crocheter, so I’m trying to understand what makes instructions clear / useful / easy to follow.

Below is an example of some sample output, and I am trying to understand if I got the stitch-marker wording right (or really if anything could be clearer).

Instruction Excerpt:

sc = single crochet; inc = 2 sc in the same stitch.

Work in continuous rounds without joining or turning. All stitches are worked through both loops.

You have just completed Round 3, which has 12 stitches. Use two locking stitch markers of different colors.

Round 4: Sc in each stitch around. As you work, place a blue marker in the first stitch you make and a red marker in the seventh stitch you make. (12 stitches)

For the following rounds, move the blue marker into the first stitch of each new round as soon as you have made that stitch. Leave the red marker attached to the same stitch it marked in Round 4; it will be a reference for sewing later.

Round 5: [Sc in the next stitch, inc in the next stitch] 6 times. (18 stitches)

Round 6: Sc in each stitch around. (18 stitches)

Stop after Round 6 and leave both markers in place.

Questions:

  • At the end of Round 6, which stitch would you understand each marker to be attached to?
  • What is unclear or awkward about how to follow these directions?
  • Is it clear what to do when crocheting past the red marker?
  • Anything else would you change?

Any suggestions for more normal/natural/common ways to say things are very welcome too.

Thanks so much for helping a bro!

I watched 5 minutes of a video on how many chains to make for a cloak and then went purely off of vibes after. So much frogging, so much steaming, so many cat hairs woven in, and so many plans changed, but I love it. I do plan on adding more to the cloak as years go on. I loved seeing all the other fiber artists at the Faire and we all gushed over each other's projects. God, I love that place.
