Anyone using starlink? Which country are you using and how are you getting around the restrictions?
Mine got restricted today. I hate not being able to use it.

Hey Everyone ,
My name is Bryan
I'm a software engineer aka web designer, I build websites and web apps, handle both the design and the dev side. Open to freelance gigs, contract work, or joining a team if someone's looking for an extra dev.
Portfolio if you want a look: https://bryandev-portfolio.vercel.app/en (yes i have to buy a domain name haha )
If anyone's got leads, needs something built, or just knows where else to look I'm all ears.
Thanks for reading this far .

About three years ago I built PidginPal, an English to Pidgin translator, and eventually stopped giving it much attention.
Then someone emailed saying it had never worked for them and asking, “Abeg you fix it okay???” Fair enough. It made me go back and rebuild it.
One part I'm trying to improve is how the app handles context. A translation might be understandable but still sound wrong for the person you're talking to or the situation you're in.
I've added regional options and explanations of wording and tone, but these use AI and can still get things wrong. I'm the developer, so this is a post about my own app. It's on iOS and Android, with free core translation and one new explanation per day, regional options, context, history and favourites are in Pro.
Would you find something like this useful for understanding messages, helping friends or family learn, or something else? I'd like to understand the real use cases rather than assume.

With the right tools and the right domain knowledge, anyone with atleast a secondary school education can build most apps we have on the market today and start making money off of it .
Why not build for the world?
The AppStore is flooded with Turkish agencies building apps for the world and their government backs them seriously !
After teaching over 2 million people AI around the world , my team and I have built a 1 month program to help Cameroonians build apps professionally with ai .
Seize this opportunity!

That is why this app is brilliant. Furthermore it is a pure web app that means anyone can install it and it doesnt go through the app store.
We need to start exposing scammers by number and bad actors too.
Their premise is simple. Can you buy bread from a serial offender?
In Cameroon your bike man could be someone that was previously a criminal and you cannot know. This changes that for the time.
I dont know, it might stir up a lot of trouble and powerful people will want it shut down even though it is legal.

Good day,
I am interested in picking up remote work so I will like to have advice from someone who is doing remote work on websites which easily accept Cameroonians

Quick update on my earlier post: the test sub is now ready at r/locable.
It’s a map where you can pin a photo by posting it in the sub with the map flair and the coordinates directly in the title.
Since I built it with r/Cameroon in mind, the map used to be centered on Cameroon, but it now adapts to where most of the posts come from.
There are some test posts on the sub that you can use as a reference. Feel free to post a few photos and try it out. Since it’s a test, I’d really like to hear what’s confusing or broken, especially when placing a pin on the map.
I’ll publish the app and the source code soon. Thanks to anyone who tries it.

Hi, I'm a dev currently living in Cameroon, experimenting with the Reddit Devvit platform. I've already built a Reddit game - nothing fancy (no users for now) - the link is in the "Share Your Projects, Big or Small!" pinned post if you're interested. Now I'm building a Reddit app that lets people pin photo posts to a shared map for the sub, and I thought of this community as a good one to test it on. If you're interested in this idea, I can share the link to the test sub where it's currently running, or if the mods allow it, I can install it directly here. I'll also share the GitHub repo for fellow devs interested in it.

Hi everyone
Over the past few months, We've been building MySevent, an event management platform designed to simplify everything that happens before and during an event.
Instead of juggling multiple tools, organizers can manage everything from one dashboard:
- Guest management & RSVPs
- QR code ticket generation
- Mobile Money payments
- Fast check-in with QR scanning
- Donations
- Custom forms & surveys
The goal is simple: help event organizers spend less time managing logistics and more time creating great experiences.
A few questions:
Website: https://mysevent.com
We are open to any feedback, good or bad.
Thanks!

I’ve been working on an Africa first threat intelligence effort focused on observing attack activity against African hosted infrastructure, including Cameroon. Most threat intelligence platform focus on global and non Africa specific intelligence.
Most global threat intel feeds surface indicators after exploitation.
This platform focuses on early stage behavior discovery, probing, and credential guessing which tends to persist longer and be more operationally relevant locally for our Africa cyber defenders.
By operating honeypots across African environments, the goal is to improve Africa specific correlation and context around how attacks actually start, not just how they end.
I’ve been sharing aggregated, non sensitive observations publicly to compare patterns and learn what’s useful for people running services in the region.
Curious if this aligns with what others in Cameroon or across Africa are seeing.
The platform is currently in BETA, so if you want to test it out let me know.

A relative will be visiting Cameroon in a few days with a university student group from Canada. Will it be possible to buy an inexpensive mobile phone at the airport for use for a few weeks while visiting? Right now I don’t know the cities they will be visiting. Certainly Douala for a start.
Some parts of the trip will probably be in rural areas in the southeast, other times in larger cities. I don’t know what the mobile phone coverage is like there. If no phones are for sale at the airport do companies at the airport sell local SIM cards for use in the phones that are available in Canada or the US? Phones like Apple, Samsung or Motorola? I have traveled in North America and Europe, but not in African countries. Some of the airports I have visited did have sim cards, others did not. Sorry to sound so ignorant about this sort of thing in Cameroon.
Thanks for any pointers

Does anyone know of the ayo insurance service on mtn?
Have you used it? What’s the benefit of using it?
