Hi everybody! I am moving to a farm with my sibling who has cerebral palsy. It’s a great community that is giving me room and board for myself and my young child and there’s a good school nearby. It will be a much simpler way of life for us and if all goes well I’d like to stay for a while. I have a BA but most of my income comes from waiting tables and I really need a change. I have managed to save 10 000 dollars due to being frugal that is just sitting in my credit union account. I’m not money minded at all so wanted to ask on here, If you were me what would you do with that amount in savings since i’m not planning to touch it for 10 years or so. I’m comfortable with a bit of risk… I think. I really don’t want to leave the community with nothing after all that time. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanks and have a great day

I live in BC 🇨🇦. I have a corporate with approx $500k in assets. I invested about $200k in equities (sp500, Xeqt, fang, etc) and I have another $300k sitting in cash in bmo savings account.

Personal income on t4 is approx 80k. Which is enough for monthly expenses. I also own a mortgage with is $550k left @ 4.4% renewing next year sept. My wife helps with 50% of mortgage. She earns $110k on t4

The accountant is managing the taxes on stocks, and corp income.

Question: I feel like I am not managing my wealth properly. It’s not really making me any money? How would you go about managing the wealth? Would you prefer paying off the mortgage? Or investing it somewhere where It could make more money? And how do people take money out of corp on by optimizing the taxes?
