What is the interview process like now for higher skilled high wage jobs?

Hi everyone, I know this job market is awful and really hard, and I’d love to help anyone whose having a rough time or just wants someone to talk to or be friends with. So I’ll just start off with saying that before asking my question.

I realized the absurd process of interviews for low-skilled minimum wage jobs where managers ghost you after giving you an offer, or them saying they’ll get back to you but never do. And many other annoying things that people have to deal with when it comes to landing these jobs.

I’m more so curious about the interview process for more higher skilled jobs such as industrial hygienist, occupational health and safety jobs, operation coordinator jobs, etc. It took me 4 years during my time in uni to land a dead end minimum wage job and I got it though an employment agency just when my financial situation was looking bleak. I’ve been struggling with this job market ever since 2022 but I learned a lot about how difficult it is during my experiences over those 4 years. But now that I’ve made a career pivot and am now trying to land a job in occupational health and safety it is still difficult to land an Interview despite me having experience and specific certifications and education required for those entry level jobs. But I’m more so curious about the interview process, I know at some point it will happen, I won’t give up. Is it usually just continuous rounds of interviews? Do hiring managers still ghost you for these more skilled high wage jobs? What have been your experiences?

I’d appreciate any insight, and if any of you wanna connect or just want some friends or someone to talk to during a time where everything is bleak, my dms are open. I hope you all have a good day.

Corporate Job Seekers in 40’s

Hello Folks,

I am 38 and I am in Marketing.
I’ve had a very turbulent career with many gaps because I’ve lived and worked in many countries.

Everytime I relocate or move, I had to start over from scratch. This has severely impacted my career growth and stability.

From hindsight, I don’t have substantial number of years to add to my work experience and i feel nowhere.

I already tried freelancing for a few years due to difficultly in finding full time jobs and that’s further deteriorated my chances of finding meaningful full time work.

Plus, ageism is real.
I look way older for my age and it’s a weird feeling when folks who are much younger are directors and team leaders.

Life has not been smooth for me in Canada and I had to deal with a lot of mental health issues after losing my lifetime savings.

I am in a better headspace now but it’s difficult to repair the damage done to my career and I don’t have much savings to my name. I was planing to retire by 40 but life had other plans and several curve balls to throw at me.

I have a feeling it’s not gonna get any better.
I am holding onto the last strings of hope to revive my career which has been in doldrums.

Just sharing this.
Thank You for reading.

Just laid off and have a question

So, on a modern resume, is it still standard practice to put a full address? I have not been in the job market for a while, so I am assuming things have changed. I would rather not put my full address out there if I don’t need to.

We hear a lot about entry-level roles disappearing and young graduates struggling to get hired, but how are mid-level and senior professionals doing in the current job market?

Headhunter/talent scouts

Hi! I am trying to look for trustworthy headhunters or talent scouts to help me connect with potential employers based on my profile and work experience. I am wondering how effective this pathway might be as just applying to jobs online and connecting with people on LinkedIn, scheduling coffee chats and networking etc is not yielding much. Please suggest some Toronto based people I could get in touch with

Job Decision

Hey everyone I'm debating on whether to go back to uni or go join a 1-6 month job training program that can get me immediately hired. I'm not picky and can relocate - I'd like a plurality of options. I got accepted into nursing but it's not for me. So no healthcare options. I've looked into waste water operations and was thinking of going down to the mines but I have no idea where to start. If anyone has any input or ideas, much appreciated.
