This could be the last time I use it as my mothers next appointment is next year. All these cars will have to find a new place as I don't have any faith in the council listening to the citizen's of the city, the people they are suppose to be representing :(
They never do. Lost all trust in them.

Wedding reception venues- Cardiff and surrounding area.

We are looking to get married at insole court 2028 just 40 people in the registry office rooms. We then need somewhere for the reception with an additional 40 people. The ceremony is in the evening so no formal wedding breakfast required just relaxed evening food. Somewhere with a dance floor and DJ.
We have contacted Portland House, Norwegian Church, insole court for the evening part, Coppa Club. Anywhere else? I’m not keen on a rugby club. But all of those above places not including food are 3k upwards!

Willing to travel a bit further if anyone has suggestions pls? Thanks

Thought this may be helpful to share this blog post for any parents out there during half term looking for free things to do as life is so expensive right now - these are open all year round. Also, if you have any other suggestions, I would love to hear.

Yoloween

Hey I have a question for people who have previously attended YOLO and have had this experience. I wasn’t able to get tickets for yoloween unfortunately but a coursemate of mine has offered to send me a screenshot of hers. I would zoom it in so you wouldn’t be able to see the name but I was wondering if they are generally picky about seeing the name to confirm it’s you and then checking your student id. I’ve also heard that apparently they rarely ask to see the ticket but I want to hear your insight.

Ideas for Christmas alone in Cardiff? Anything open?

Hello, I’m thinking of spending Christmas alone this year as my daughter is with her dad (3 hours away). It’ll be my first Christmas without her and I feel like spending Christmas around my family without her there will just make me miss her even more.

I also don’t get on with a couple extended family members as they hold some extreme bigoted views so just think I would rather stay clear of that. I was thinking of volunteering but I’ve seen that there are normally more than enough volunteers helping on Christmas Day (and organisations prioritise pre-trained/existing volunteers which makes sense).

So I’m not sure what to do. I’m quite an extroverted and sociable person so don’t want to be completely alone. I could afford to travel for a night or two maybe. Is there anything in Cardiff or any other nearby cities which seem like a fun way to spend the day?

Early December hike recommendations?

I've heard so many nice things about Cardiff and the nature around it to decide to visit the city this December (first week of)! We're interested in doing a light hike/trailing around the area, especially in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park but have been getting some advice not to due to the potentially bad/dangerous weather, especially if hiking up the peaks.

And so, do you guys maybe have other recommended scenic & nature trail/hike in the area? Perhaps somewhere still in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park area that's not as dangerous for winter time? (if possible at all?) We're fit but are admittedly still novices in hiking.

And any advice would be welcome 🙌

What makes someone a Cardiff local?

Have been here three years and still feel like I don’t really know Cardiff that well. What in your opinion does one need to know to be able to call themselves a local/someone who knows Cardiff well?

Mushrooming around Cardiff

Hi folks! I have a friend coming to visit who would like to go mushrooming together (for tasty edible mushrooms not the funny kind!). I am familiar with mushrooming back in East Anglia where I grew up (mostly Penny Bun/boletus) but looking for advice for around Cardiff. Anyone know any good woodland areas where you can pick mushrooms? Thanks in advance!

Sunday roast, not on a sunday

Will be in london/cardiff next week, mostly cardiff. Ive been one time but failed to get a proper sunday roast. I wont be in the country by sunday. So, is there any place that serves sunday roast adjacent meal on a weekday? Bonus points if its less than a 30min walking radius of the city centre!

If not, any notable lunch spots?

Trick or Treating

My 4 year old really wants to go trick or treating this year for the first time.

Is there any street in particular that puts a lot of effort and expects a lot of visitors?

Gluten free options on City Road

Recently moved to Roath and am starry-eyed at all of the food options. For gluten free I know about Juno Lounge, Blossom Cafe, Scaramantica, and Moo moo Thai but am wondering if anyone has any hidden gems that have GF options on Albany or City road. So far Google and FindMeGF haven’t been super helpful.
