Just Chatting Scrolling Online is now our Walk in the Park

Its funny how I thought about "Daily walks" the moment my friend said "I just need my Mandatory Scroll"

I imagine fingers as people walking around...

In this day and age, Scrolling is now our Walk in the Park.

Picture this, when you go outside and have stroll, you'd see different kinds of things, Teenagers driving around with their music (litterally coming out of their car) , a group of friends just happily chatying and sharing their ice cream, and someone that tripped on a rock.

It's like that when you have your daily scroll. You'd see different kinds of things. People dancing to Brazilian Dance, Cat vids, News, etc.

Music Does anyone feel like often times you need to suffer the most to make the best art/music/theater, etc.?

I spent all day listening to Nick Drake, forgive me. But I can’t help but feel that some of the most prolific and influential art in my life was made from the suffering of others, as if that might be the only way to “capture” such difficult emotions. Vincent Van Gogh was another one that popped in my head.

But then on the other hand, I have my favorites like Paul McCartney who in my opinion, is much more apt towards love songs and pain, but just in a different light. Maybe its a bit of both? What are your opinions.

Just Chatting How do you get your resentment off of your father?

I had been a resentful son to my father because he did things I don't want to carry to my fatherhood. During our childhood, he pinches our hair near the ear when we are not at home the time he arrives from work. But I forgive him for that because it was discipline. Additionally, he brings his work luggage home, and one time he took it out on me, fortunately just verbally. Since then, I have been distant. This also contributes to the psychological communication barrier on my side as I do not like him for what he did.

Now I forgave him, but the communication barrier is this there. Maybe someone have some advice for me? I would really appreciate it!

Networking/Stay in touch

• Upvotes

I have been taking classes as part of my continuing career development and realized that, once the class is over, so is the connection I have with classmates. It’s quite difficult to stay in touch as adults.

Just curious, does any of you encounter the same thing, and if not, what do you do to stay in touch with people from your bootcamp/class? Thank you :)

Music Isn’t it weird how hearing an old song doesn't just remind you of the past, it literally brings back the exact "weather" and vibe of that month?

I randomly heard a track i used to loop back in 2019, and for a split second i could literally feel the exact late-afternoon autumn breeze and the specific stress i had that week.

It’s not even a specific memory or event, just the exact "atmosphere" of my life back then stored inside an mp3 file. do you guys have songs that act like weird time capsules for random, uneventful periods of your life?

Just Chatting Sometimes, life changes in a single day… Have you ever experienced a day when you realized that someone who once meant everything to you was becoming a stranger?

Today, I started thinking about how life works. We make plans with people, imagine a future together, and believe some moments will last forever. But sometimes, life takes a completely different direction.

One day, you're sharing your happiest moments with someone. Another day, you're learning to be happy without them.

Maybe growing up means accepting that not everyone who enters our lives is meant to stay forever.

My question is: If you could go back to one moment in your life, not to change anything, but simply to experience it one more time, which moment would you choose?

Just Chatting If you could create a holiday, what and how would it be?

What would be the history/story behind it?

What would we do during this holiday? Would we be dressing up like Halloween? Drinking beer? Exchanging gifts?

When/what date would it fall on? Why? What's the big deal about that date?

And finally, why would you think it would be an awesome holiday?

My best friend

My best friend and I know each other since we were 10 years old. We smiled at each other in class and that’s how our friendship began. We were inseparable for many years, so many memories shared. One day she just decided to not answer my text messages anymore and that’s how she slowly disappeared from my life. There was absolutely no reason. No fight..just like that after at least 15 years of friendship. She blocked me everywhere. It’s been 3-4 years now and never heard from her. I’m posting here because I remembered all the good time together and all our memories of school etc and wonder if she ever thinks about it too. How can someone just erase you from their life like that without any reason ? Have you ever experienced something like that ?

Why does the internet feel so lonely and corporate nowadays compared to 10 years ago?

I was just thinking about how the internet used to feel like a massive collection of weird, creative, and personal spaces—like random forums, independent blogs, and unique websites with their own personalities and custom designs.

Now, it feels like we just rotate between 4 or 5 giant apps where everything looks the exact same, content is heavily optimized for algorithms, and genuine human interaction is kind of hard to find. It’s super efficient, but it lost its soul.

What is one specific thing from the older internet (websites, forums, games, or just a vibe) that you miss the most?

Edit: Damn, didn't expect this to blow up so fast! Reading through all your replies is giving me some serious nostalgia, keep 'em coming.

Questions Fish or banana peel smell

I was eating fish and then post-dinner I started to get ick-ed out from its smell. Sometime later I decided to eat a banana but then the banana peel smell got on my nerves. So the question is....

Would you rather smell like fish or rotten banana peel?

Does anyone else find it harder to make friends as an adult?

I feel like making friends was so much easier when I was younger. At school, you saw the same people every day, so friendships just happened naturally.

But now it feels completely different. You have to actually make an effort to meet new people, and even when you do, it's not always easy to stay in touch.

Maybe it's just part of growing up, idk. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Just Chatting Making a fresh start

Hi there! Today, I’ve decided to start my life over from scratch. I plan to gradually finish the tasks I’ve been putting off and begin a diet and exercise routine. I might be the millionth person to say this, but I’m serious about it, so I’ve taken several steps to keep myself motivated.

For instance, I donated my larger-sized clothes and bought items two sizes smaller; now, I’ll have no choice but to tone up! I also need to get ready for the university entrance exam this June. Furthermore, I intend to use this account for productive purposes (my old account was a total mess). I really hope I can succeed, wish me luck!

Past friends will really surprise you, and to think that I assumed they'd forget me...

Its actually suprising to see ya'll include in you close friends in Instagram, even though I was just apart of your lives for like a few years. We don't really have a connection the during our school days since I was the quiet kid on the corner.

But seeing the green circle on your profiles makes me smile. Though, we only interacted once or twice, its kinda nice that you still remembered me...

Instagram Deactivation

Basically I have decided to break the habit of using Instagram..

I always deactivate my Instagram every now and then but now I have decided that I will just solve the root problem that is breaking the habit of using it. I will activate it again because yeah I need it for other purposes which aren't doomscrolling but, first I will start with trying to break the habit.

The most time I have went by deactivating insta is 7 days.

Today is the 13th day from the day I have deactivated insta. I got this urge to activate it, but I won't activate it until I complete 30 days.

Life Stories Somehow, I looked great in the mirror but like shit in every photo taken of me. It turns out I was just overweight.

I think I'm blessed by having a good bone structure and when I was looking in the mirror, I could control the angles to have a decent apppearance. It's probably what kept me from losing weight for the longest time because I thought looked better than I actually was.

But consistently, when people take photos of me, it would turn out horrible. This is because they would take photos of the 90% of angles and poses where I didn't look as good. This was what motivated me to lose weight and now that I've gone from 30 pounds overweight to probably around 10 pounds overweight, photos taken of me almost always look good. I'm probably going to continue losing weight and building muscle.

I hope this helps people with a similar experience. It seems like it's more common for the mirror to lie to people in decreasing their self-esteem, but in my experience it was the other way around.

Just Chatting got so good at folding fitted sheets once

a couple years ago i had this weird stretch where laundry just became part of my daily routine for a few months straight. nothing dramatic, just sheets and towels on repeat. after a while the fitted sheet actually started cooperating, like i could get the corners tucked without wrestling it across the floor. it was oddly satisfying, and i started timing myself for fun. now that life shifted again, the skill kind of faded, but i still catch myself thinking about it whenever the sheets look extra chaotic in the basket.

Just Chatting What’s the most unexpected acts of kindness a complete stranger has ever done for you?

I was thinking about a time a few years back when I dropped one of my credit cards on a rainy day, and someone literally chased me down two blocks to hand it back in a coffee shop, then left before I had the chance to buy him coffee. It was such a small thing, but it completely changed my mood for the rest of the week.

Would love to hear some positive story swaps today. What’s a small encounter with a stranger that you still think about?

Just Chatting My parents still ask about friends I haven’t spoken to in 10 years

I’ll be having dinner and my mom will randomly ask, “How’s Youssef?”

Mom, I last saw him in 2016. You’re now the only thing keeping this friendship alive.

Does anyone else’s family do this? Who’s the person your parents refuse to forget?
