Video Games blood elf names!
hi!! i'm making a few members of my world of warcraft sin'dorei oc's families!
both sides are mages from cities destroyed by magic, both cities in snowy climates, and with a connection to dragons. thousands of years later, they're still retainers and record-keepers.
the actively roleplayed and heavily plot important members of the family are as follows:
raenyste eldermist (née ivyspire)
rynesmira un'aviel-greyshine
mikkaren un'aviel
mystearine lunarose
mikke'hael un'aviel
brilowyn twiceriven
haela luneblind
alnu'el snowswept
nu'eliina ivyspire
alamae greyshine
hanamira featherpool
gaia'vyn ivyspire
vaeryn winterwish
my naming schema diverges from typical elven names. i don't like -iel/ielle, -isse, -tha, -thia, -lia, -ina, -stra, etc, unless i can make it sound significantly removed from other elven naming tropes like ael, ery, dae, etc. (and i named raenyste and rynesmira when i was a child, way before game of thrones!! the resemblance isn't lost on me, but it is a coincidence.) i stray from a lot of typical elven last name compounds as well - again, unless i can make it sound significantly different with at least one more rare word: spire, wish, swept, riven, blind, floe, twice. please no dawns, nights, moons, brooks, spells, etc.
i like double letters. i speak finnish.
my ideas for my new characters are:
first, one originally named yulisaie featherpool. i learned about alisaie from ffxiv, and with the crossover in fandom, i want to differentiate it a bit more. her last name just feels long. my ideas are yuliieth (or yulieth) and yunaleth. i'd be open to anything retaining the nickname "yuli", even if it's broken up through the name like the latter. for her last name, i'm torn between greyshine, ashfeather, and ashen...something? ashenpool? ashenbell? (greyshine would require some lore reworks, but, i'm in love with the name). ash or grey are vital to this character - her homeland, like all blood elves, was burned by undead.
the other is haela. her story is a bit different, and her name feels too simple. i've considered adding another h to make haelah, which i like the symmetry of. her last name would also need to change in this au. i like -dreamt for her. snowdreamt? floedreamt? for her, snow is significant.
thanks for reading!
