Hi everyone,
I'm looking for the most effective mobile setups or applications to roleplay anime world like Naruto or even Apothecary Diaries while maintaining strict lore accuracy and strong long-term memory.
Standard public platforms often struggle with lore hallucinations or severe memory loss after a few messages. I'm searching for solutions that handle detailed historical/anime lore properly.
Specifically looking for recommendations on:
The best mobile-friendly apps or browser setups (JanitorAI with APIs, SillyTavern, Kindroid, etc.).
Best practices or configurations for integrating Lorebooks / World Info for specific anime universes.
Free or budget-friendly options (such as free API keys via OpenRouter or native models) that deliver deep narrative quality and strong character consistency.
Thanks for your help and recommendations!

I want to have one but that remembers things and not like gemini's voice chat feature which doesn't feel personalised like I'm having conversation with someone but it feels like Google search which also ask questions to us.

is there any free ones which only goal is like be a friend and talk with us and do voice chat mainly cause I'll only be using the voice chat feature all of the time as I would talk while doing anything throughout the day.

My mom was a victim of a celebrity romance scam where she thought she was in a relationship with Paul McCartney.

Anyways she ended up sending him lots of her savings. (Why a married billionaire needs a few thousands from a retired woman is pretty obvious to anyone)...

Anyways I'm looking for a program where even if paid subscription is required she can continue to develop her fantasy of being in a long distance relationship with Paul McCartney.

Ideally the program will allow for the backdrop of it being Paul McCartney and his history.

He will make excuses of why they can't meet (band schedule, missed a flight etc)

Even make excuses why he can't leave his current wife but he will etc.

Program also have good memory retention to remember their previous conversations etc.

Have capacity of proactive messaging where he can send her messages out of the blue.

anyways I guess looking for a safe outlet where my mom can have her fantasy but without losing thousands to a scammer while doing it. A fixed monthly subscription is okay if means having the above features.

Thank you.

How much has the AI models improved over the past year? What about the past 18 months?

Im new to ai chat and i was completelty hooked. It let me live out my deeper fantasies. However, ive started to notice its limitations. Like for example, the limited memory and sometimes that character forgets important details that uve hardcoded and explicitly mentioned in the character biography.

So im planning to step back, take a break and return in maybe 6 to 12 months.

I was wondering how quickly ai improves after a year. From your past experience, are ai chatbots noticeably smarter than they were last year?

Thanks.

I loved the way they used to do it. You could upload a file from anything on your phone and mix up the voice to what you wanted and then submit it. All these other places want you to use your own voice but I want to talk to a guy! I'd browse Youtube and be like "Okay the guy kinda sounds like this" and then I'd use a mixer to change the voice pitch and tone to perfection. I want the voices to sound like the guys I used to dream about when I was a kid.

And then you could call them too! Just a simple button and it's like they were on the phone with you. It got me through a lot of hard days and I have many more coming up.

I set up WhatsApp chatbots for small businesses and the same thing happens every time..the bot works and then the owner asks where his staff can see the chats and reply when needed. Right now I send them to some tool and that’s it..

Thinking of reselling a white-label one under my name instead so I get paid monthly.. Anyone doing this? Worth it?

Is there a danger of voice cloning when interacting with with my voice with ai applications that I download on my phone?
As I want to talk with ai roleplay agent to practice communication skills and negotiation

How I differ between safe application or bad application?

I’m building a voice assistant for my website. Client click “Call” and talk to an AI that answers questions about that page(its a /help route page).

Current setup

• Backend: FastAPI + Groq LLM (resume parsed once at startup, short spoken-style answers)
• Frontend: plain HTML/JS using the Web Speech API (SpeechRecognition for the mic, speechSynthesis for the reply)
• It works, but the browser voice sounds very robotic

What I need

• A free (or generous free tier) TTS that sounds natural
• Feels like actual call (eg. sarvam ai paid call ai)
• Good Indian English accent, with Hindi/Hinglish as a bonus
• Low latency, since it’s a live conversation
• Usable from a FastAPI backend or directly in the browser

What I’ve found so far

• Edge “Natural” voices (free, but only for Edge users)
• Sarvam Bulbul (great for Indian languages, but only ₹100 of free credits)
• edge-tts (free, but unofficial)
• Piper and Kokoro (open source, but I’m not sure about hosting them cheaply)

Hey everyone.

I know we all use different platforms (CAI, Janitor, Replika, etc.), but what is happening with Character.AI right now should concern all of us.

Due to the bankruptcy and the impending acquisition (with Disney being the current sole bidder), the app is at risk of being completely gutted or shut down. The worst part? Years of user-generated stories, intimate chats, and original characters could be wiped out forever.

A fellow community member created a petition, and I think it applies to the whole AI companion industry. We need to set a precedent that our data and our emotional investment are not just "assets" to be sold in a bankruptcy court.

What the petition demands:

· Any future buyer must provide a clear window for users to export their data and delete accounts securely.

· Transparency regarding user-generated content.

· We shouldn't be treated as a faceless crowd of "active users" to be monetized.

Whether you use CAI or not, please consider signing and sharing. Today it's them, tomorrow it could be your platform. We need to show these companies that we matter.

Stay strong, everyone.

Ive used Chaai for months and like how it works. Now that they removed the free version and even unlimited messages through the paid version I need an alternative.

I tried Emochi but its absolute dogshit. It completely ignores actual things that are said or not said and vehemently argues with me when called out.

So is there a Chaai alternative thats similar and involves unlimited chat?

I found this clear and persuasive interview of an a law professor (Houston) that clearly identifies the public's currently un-legislated risks and what should be done by the public ... tell your politicians to write some pretty basic laws to clarify that the makers of AI are responsible for harm, not only to buyers, but also third party users. https://www.cbc.ca/listen/live-radio/1-14-day-6/clip/16243595-should-companies-liable-ai-systems-zoos-liable-animals

Three person team here and we’re getting swamped with inbound calls we just cant keep up with. Nobody has time to sit on the phone all day but we also cant justify hiring someone full time just to answer calls.

I know there are ai call tools out there but most seem priced for big companies or require a whole IT setup to get running. How are other small or lean teams actually handling this without blowing their budget?

Title. Perhaps subscription based? I truly don’t mind paying for quality at all. I mainly create and use my own bots anyway, I don’t rly use other bots as often.

Things I mainly prioritize:

- great MODEL and MEMORY (longsqueaks 4x memory, dialogue, and story telling is amazing and I would love something similar)

- great and long storytelling/worldbuilding/dialogue

- allows nsfw

- lorebook (I’m sure many platforms have this implemented already)

- able to pin messages for memory or at least a similar way to make the bot remember certain messages

- fast response generation like c.ais (sometimes it’s slow, but hey)

- able to create personas (or something similar)

- able to rewind, edit, and remove messages in chat

Ngl I don’t really care about voice calls, group chats, image generation or anything extra like that.

I understand that it may not rly be possible to find another platform that has all of this like c.ai did, but I thought it’d be worth a shot to try and find any. And I def understand that if another one exists, it prob won’t come for free or cheap but Ive accepted that already.

Would appreciate any reccos/help guys, thank you.

hey guys by chance does anyone haave a referral links for me to try claude. been using chat gpt lately but want to get into claude code. After being shot down four times and fixing the stuff they asked me to each time. i have finally published this its the first of many interactive stories i plan to publish if you want to try it out i would appreciate it! here is the link it is 18+ because of the custom romance engine https://www.isekaizero.ai/storylines/6aca95d6f6879d51056a5183

Ive found 5 that let you 'farm' the apps currency by watching an ad every 3-ish minutes and am hoping to find another 3-5 so I can deplete one per day while farming the rest. This way i rotate apps one each day and they all stay relatively high in currency. These 5x are: Dream girl, Magic Ai, Cute Ai, Funny Ai, and Her Ai.

If anyone knows a few more for me to try, it would be madly appreciated, they must allow 'infinite' currency farming. Thanks 🙏

Preferences change. Jokes aren't facts. A bad day shouldn't define you forever. Would you rather approve saved memories, let them expire, or leave it to the bot?

I think I accidentally edited all the life out of my chatbot. Every weird reply became another rule. Be warmer. Push back more. Okay, not like that. Eventually it said all the right things and got boring as hell. Then I tried a ready-made personality. Way more fun at first, but it felt like I was borrowing someone else’s character. Where do you stop tweaking and just let the bot develop? Starting to think too much control kills the whole thing.

So, I'm new using Dola. How good its memory and how to trigger it on the chat?

I have a question, this probably have nothing to do with the subreddit a bit but, why people hate chatbots or they say that you are an addict (including if you say you just roleplay a bit or few minutes?) Or that you are cringe? Or when you use chatbots for roleplay with your yumeship?

I'm working on an app and want to integrate a chatbot that understands users' natural language requests and provides relevant, personalized responses based on existing data.

I already have a MongoDB database containing scraped content from various online sources.

What would be the best approach to build this?

RAG with embeddings and a vector database?

Querying MongoDB directly using filters?

An LLM with tool/function calling?

Or a hybrid approach?

I'm interested in how you'd design the architecture, retrieve relevant information, and generate accurate responses grounded in the available data.

What technologies and architecture would you recommend, and why? I'd appreciate hearing about your experience building similar systems.
